A number of politicians are stoking speculation that they could make late entries into the 2024 presidential race ahead of what’s shaping up to be a potential rematch between President Biden and former President Trump. Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) became the latest figure to raise questions about a White House bid after he released a cryptic video this week that prompted murmurs about a possible third-party campaign. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) has sparked similar questions for the past few months and in recent days.

Don't understand the logic that Manchin would take votes away from Old Yeller. If anything, he would take votes away from President Trump. My only prediction is that all the losers will demand that the Electoral College be eliminated when the popular vote for the winner is under 50%.

Neither Hogan nor Manchin is the answer. There is a reason names keep being floated. Nobody has any faith in the frontrunners. Biden? He's not even at the helm. DeSantis? Looks like another fat cat in government. Reminds me of the Bushes. Ramaswamy? His background suggests he would fit right in with the Washington swamp. And then there is Trump. He shows promise, but if he allows himself to be influenced and manipulated like he did during the pandemic he will be a disaster. You don't kill tens of thousands of businesses and tens of millions of jobs.

Here's a clue as to who Larry Hogan is. Aside from being the former governor of Maryland, he is a never Trumper extreme, and he was considered a conservative in Maryland. Those three things should alone disqualify him from running for any public office ever again.

Just my paranoia perhaps. But have these people been tipped off that Trump, by hook or by crook ( mostly crook) will not be permitted to contest. So the race is wide open and they have a chance.

Guess Larry didn’t get the CNN/MSNBC gig he was angling for. When you don’t have a job running for president is the next best thing.Larry must thing the Democrat cross over voting will get him the nomination.

Imagine if they simply started to work WITH him instead of opposing him at nearly every turn? They need to remember, the opposition party are registered as Democrats.

Inconclusive vote in Spain leaves country

Spain was plunged into political uncertainty Monday a day after Alberto Núñez Feijóo's conservative Popular Party narrowly won the country's national election but without securing the parliamentary majority needed to topple the five-year-old coalition government of Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. The result means Feijóo can't claim outright victory, though he told his supporters he would try to form a government. That process is likely to take weeks or even months as Sánchez may also be able to secure support from smaller parties to form a governing coalition. A new election could also be called.

MADRID (AP) — Voters in Spain withstood soaring summer temperatures to vote Sunday in a general election that could make the country the latest European Union member to swing to the political right. The Interior Ministry said turnout was 40% at 2 p.m., 2.5% more than in the last elections in November 2019. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called the early election after his Spanish Socialist Workers Party and its far-left partner, Unidas Podemos, took a severe beating in local and regional elections in May. Sánchez has been premier since 2018.

LONDON (AP) — Environmentalists cautioned Britain’s main political parties on Sunday not to water down their climate change promises after a special election result widely seen as a thumbs-down from voters to a tax on polluting cars. The governing Conservatives suffered two heavy defeats in a trio of by-elections for House of Commons seats on Thursday. But they managed to win the third contest, for a suburban London district, by focusing on a divisive green levy imposed by London’s Labour Party mayor. The Ultra Low Emission Zone, or ULEZ, charges drivers of older gas and diesel vehicles 12.50 pounds ($16) a day to move around the city.

The letter signed by over 1,000 Israeli Air Force personnel on Friday announcing they would suspend their reserve duty if the government continues pushing the judicial overhaul legislation is the most critical step taken by the pro-democracy protest movement thus far.  'We are defending Israel from an internal threat,' say military reservists    It comes at the 11th hour, just before the coalition led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu completes a key component of the judicial overhaul – revoking the reasonableness standard, which would deprive courts of the power to overturn government decisions that it deems unreasonable.

A damning FD-1023 document detailing then-Vice President Joe Biden’s Burisma bribery scheme was made public on Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley. The record shows Biden fired a Ukrainian prosecutor tasked with investigating the energy company his son was a board member of in exchange for a total of $10 million. Delaware prosecutors hid the document from IRS investigators who say it would have aided their tax crime probe. The FBI, similarly, stonewalled publicizing the bombshell form, which earned FBI Director Christopher Wray the ire of Grassley and other Republicans focused on exposing Biden family corruption.

Last month, two conservative groups made court filings to oppose Florida’s anti-woke law: The Academic Freedom Alliance (“AFA”) joined the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (“FIRE”) challenging the statute’s constitutionality. The Florida law bans promotion of divisive concepts, based on race or sex, in the educational setting. Its language is similar to President Trump’s Executive Order 13950 which applied to the federal workforce but was withdrawn when Biden took office. Challengers claim that the Florida law chills the free speech rights of professors and therefore violates both the First Amendment and what is called “academic freedom,”

On Tuesday the House Oversight Committee released a 14-year timeline of the Biden Crime Family’s influence peddling and selling out America to foreign regimes including Communist China. For the past three or four weeks of this record heatwave, people have been burned just by falling on the ground. “Summers are our busy season, so we anticipate that this sort of thing is going to happen. But this is really unusual — the number of patients that we’re seeing and the severity of injuries — the acuity of injuries is much higher,” said Dr. Kevin Foster, director of burn services at the Arizona Burn Center at Valleywise Health.

After seeking to reduce the use of gas stoves, the Biden administration is pushing a proposal to ban the sale of almost all portable gas generators—which some experts have said would be disastrous for the millions of Americans who rely on such generators during power outages. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has proposed a policy (pdf) that would remove nearly all existing portable gas generators from the market. The new rule restricts the amount of carbon monoxide that generators can emit by forcing these generators to switch off when they reach a certain level of emissions.
