Republicans are mounting their own effort at an expanded child tax credit that includes applying the credit to fetuses in the womb. Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, is leading a package of bills in the House called the Providing For Life Act, an ambitious attempt at overhauling the federal government’s family care system.
Hinson told Fox News Digital her legislation "charts the policy course for a culture of life in America."
"By expanding the child tax credit to include the unborn and providing additional support to working families, empowering women to care for their babies regardless of socioeconomic status or zip code and improving access to community resources, we can

No tax credit without a legitimate birth certificate!! Fraud is easy enough with our current tax system.

That governs best that governs least.
There's a point where governments just keep adding stuff because it sounds good.

It’s a rational idea. In the sense of promoting procreation. Above objections noted as serious issues.

Yep. Let’s expand our debt. How many ways can this go wrong? At least make the payments returnable without a cert of live birth

We want to incentivize bringing more children into the world.
They want us all dead.
Perhaps that's a significant difference that people can use when deciding which way to vote?

Fraught with loopholes, and fair game for those who would conceive and then abort. We need more people working, and fewer giveaways. We know who figures out all the angles on those giveaways.

Just reduce taxes so that everyone can afford to raise their kids. This kind of thing sounds good to some people, but is poor tax policy. It is hard enough to enforce child credits when you are supposed to have a birth certificate and a social security number. Next thing you know, you won't even need to be in the US before you get a child tax credit. You can come to the US later, at your convenience after giving birth. Or heck, just get the coyote to claim the credit as prepayment to get you across.

It never stops. The government continues in their quest to make every person in this country completely dependent on Uncle Sugar. Could we please stop this spending bonanza? I am sick to death of being asked to pay for someone else’s college education, subsidizing their mortgage payments, food stamps, etc. The “government” is you, me, your neighbors. Would you go to your next door neighbor and ask them for a few hundred dollars a month to help you? No, you wouldn’t but you have no problem with asking that the “government” do so. It’s time to stop.

No, the family unit is already destroyed. Woman are encouraged to have children without being married because the government supports them. This is how a lot of women earn income. They teach daughters to do likewise. Why do you think there are so many fatherless children?

How about incentivizing marriage, legitimacy, and families who choose to have/adopt multiple children with one parent staying home to take care of those kids. I've always been a stay at home homeschooling mom (Thank you to my husband and to Jesus for blessing us so!) but it is pretty obvious when I do the taxes, we as a family are penalized for making this choice compared to others who get tons of tax incentives to throw their kids in daycare and then into institutionalized public schooling.
And I will be honest, in most industries where women were not previously present and well represented prior to "women's lib", women bring little to no benefit and often great harm to those industries. I mean let's face it my fellow gals, the modern scourge that is the HR department and DEI is purely woman's doing.

In so many ways, Republicans are just as stupid and just as much for big government as the damocrats. And of course, just as willing to spend other peoples money.
