Recently, Arizona Republican Eli Crane was rebuked for referring to “people of color” as “colored people.”
That’s a controversy which would, at any other time in the history of the English language, be incomprehensible to a sensible reader. After all, there’s no practical difference in the phrases. In fact, the choice to give preference to the phrase “people of color” is worse than practically useless to an English speaker -- it’s needlessly more burdensome to both the talker and the listener.
Consider this formula with any other trait. Would you refer to yourself as a “person of dark hair,” or a “dark-haired person?”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Castreau is slavishly precise in his enunciation of politicized acronyms. Fidel's son would never misgender anyone, or violate left fringe pre-Elon Musk Twitter standards--never! FTA: "...Last month, Chris Kenny of Australia’s Sky News marveled at Trudeau’s invention of new virtue signaling letters for the LGBTQ+ movement ... “Talk about virtue signaling,” Kenny says. 'I’ve got to admire his articulation here, his vocal dexterity, as he rattles off the latest combination of letters and numbers.' The segment cuts to Trudeau, speaking very effeminately, but with absolute precision, to include individuals claiming the peculiar “two-spirit” identity ...."
"(S)peaking very effeminately...." You can say that again. What sex does Justin claim to be? He's not a man like his communist father was.

How about we just call them the ‘sexually abnormal’ crowd. They’re a very insecure bunch. That’s why anytime they get a chance to shout someone down for any reason, however minuscule, it gives them a sense of power and purpose.

I just use the 'Q' word, since I feel it encompasses the whole of their movement. Unfortunately, it can't be used on this forum, or at least I haven't been able to.

This has been one of my thoughts for a long time.
I was brought up calling what are called blacks today colored people.
Then the People of Color didn't like that they wanted to be called black, now they want to be called people of color.
I wish they would make up their minds what they want to be called.
I know what they call themselves, but that is a no-no.

Fredrick Douglass and MLK freely used the word negro. Should they be rebuked? The intent is the key. But the Left's precise argument is that even if your intent isn't derogatory, it is still racist because it offends someone. Well. this attitude offends me. What about my sensibilities??

Yes I guess we should be demanding that all MLK or Douglass statues be toppled at once and all buildings and streets currently named for them should be renamed immediately, right?

How about People of the Crayola Box? BTW - Kevin McCarthy - true to GOP form:
McCarthy’s take: Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters on Friday that Crane’s comments were “unacceptable,” and he’d take Crane’s word about misspeaking. source: Politico

Poster number 1 meant 'NAACP not NAAPoC'. And will now apologize.
But, good catch. It's The National Association for the Advancement of COLORED PEOPLE'
Meanwhile, spouting all those letters is a pain in my.... larynx. I say 'Ligbit' and leave it at that.

Same as #10, I grew up in the Deep South. The polite designation was “colored person”. We were forbidden to use the “N” word. It was considered impolite and a word used by low class or ignorant whites. I would occasionally overhear black people using it among themselves, usually in a derogatory fashion. “People of color “ is a pretentious, virtue-signaling phrase used by the clueless left trying to follow the latest woke language.

Been reading Walter Scott and struck by how similar his Covenanters are to the American Left and his royalists to another US faction.... The grievance that has truth in it, the rigidity, partisanship and cruelty of the party that emerged. The ideological tests, the silliness, the very real suffering on both sides. It felt just like us. And they all ultimately lived happily ever after somehow.

I call them the alphabet people but maybe it should be the people of the alphabet. I use this among conservatives. Around progressives I try to avoid the subject. I still cannot comprehend how we got to this point with all this fixation on sex and identity.
