Your Candidate Is an Idiot and I’ll

Don’t you just love primaries? It’s a time when people who generally get along just fine turn into Yankees and Red Sox fans on a bender during the playoffs. It’s not fun to be around, and it’s not all that much fun to be a part of. Unless it’s happening to Democrats, of course, in which case you root for as long of a fight as possible. But this year it’s not happening to Democrats, at least not yet, it’s happening to Republicans, and there’s a better than average chance it’ll screw up the country going forward.

The term "candidate" is singular. Ignore number agreement and you are no different than woke leftists.

I'd say you can't ignore the fact of fraud... nor the list of accomplishments of, ahem, one particular candidate who was the nexus of both but...
... apparently you can.

Terrible advice and one of the primary reasons why the system is broken. It is the idea that "the Party is all that matters" If a candidate has an R behind their name then one is obligated to support them and if you don't then you are a traitor to the "Party". Thank God McCain and Romney did not get elected. But many who have been ordained by the Party have and continue to gleefully destroy this country. I gave up my Republican membership years ago because following the herd more often than not leads one to the slaughter house.

# 1, your point about number agreement is well taken. Many conservative writers consistently make that mistake and it annoys me, too. But to put them on the same level as woke leftists is a bit over the top, wouldn't you say?
And BTW - it's different "from, not different "than".

#3 is missing the point. In order to effect change you have to have a working majority. Like it or not, that’s the reality. That has never been more obvious than during the Biden Administration. ‘Independents’ are a myth. They love the attention at election time but principles and beliefs, if one has any, do not fall squarely in the middle unless you’re incapable of making a decision. Ideology matters.

Maybe, maybe not. I think the idiots have already been identified and effectively removed from the GOP primary. We have learned a lot since 2020.

In a party based electoral system, which the USA quickly evolved into, there are two classes of elections. In the primary, you get to vote for a candidate you prefer. That means you are voting FOR someone.
In the general election, your duty as a citizen is to vote AGAINST the candidate who is most likely to act against the interests of the people of the USA. Sometimes you have to vote for a really bad choice like Mitt Romney or John McCain, but the alternative is always worse.
Occasionally you will find the opportunity to vote FOR a candidate you like while also voting AGAINST a candidate you really know would be a disaster. That happened for me when I voted for Ronald Reagan and again when I voted for Donald Trump. These opportunities are rare.

The train of two generally well meaning parties offering slightly different paths to a similar goal, left the station in this country long ago. We have now a stupid Party and an evil Party. This is no time to discuss and debate who is more and lor less stupid Stopping the evil ones in their tracks is of critical, existential importance. If you are facing a kamikaze attack are you going to waste time discussing the Navy's affirmative action policies? Or pick up a gun and start shooting??

5, effect change like how McCain made a big show of going out of his way to be the deciding vote on a key piece of Trump's agenda and very publicly voted no with a big thumbs down?
McCain might as well have been AOC for all the good he did for Americans instead of his own ego.
And he's not the only one by a long shot.
I'd rather have a democrat we can kick out after one term than a democrat who ran had a Republican we are stuck with for life.
Party shmarty, I vote FOR conservatives. I never vote for RNIOs. They're worse than democrats, wolves in sheep's clothing.

And who was the last Democrat we kicked out after one term, # 10? Carter was a once in a century phenomenon.
RINOs are a fact of life and, believe it or not, have real constituencies. The GOP is never going to be a mirror image of the radical Dems. Working within that irksome reality is why politics is called the Art of the Possible.

#4, one of Alinski's tactics is to control the language. So no, not over the top.
"Different than" is perfectly acceptable, unless you are Noam Chomsky. Find another point to miss.

I posted, then read the comments. Yikes! Are you wanting Biden or any other democrat win again? I’ll want another place to live if that happens. #4/11 posted my thoughts too. Incumbents even like Biden are hard to get rid of. And poster is correct about from and than.

#14, ignoring correct number agreement is a grammatical error. Whether or not one uses "from" or "than" is simply a preference.
