A top House Republican said Sunday he agreed with the Biden administration’s contentious decision to supply cluster munitions to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package, while a prominent progressive Democrat said the US risks “losing our moral leadership” over the move. House Foreign Affairs Chairman Michael McCaul, a Texas Republican, and Rep. Barbara Lee, a California Democrat, made their remarks in separate interviews with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” McCaul said the weapons “would be a game-changer” in the war in Ukraine, noting that “Russia is dropping with impunity cluster bombs” on Ukrainian territory.

We only "cut and run" when democrats gain control. Vietnam was lost due to democrats in congress refusing aid to South Vietnam and Afghanistan was lost due to Biden's fecklessness.

‘Climate Czar’ John Kerry can’t

Why the long face, John Kerry? The former Secretary of State and current “Climate Czar” looked most unhappy yesterday as he appeared before a Congressional hearing. No wonder. It seems Kerry never expected to actually be questioned about his special role. Indeed he seems to have thought that the position given to him by the President not only entitled him to year-round perks, but to lifelong immunity from criticism. Kerry has been in his role since January 2021. Since that time his office has said that he reports simply and solely to the President. During his time in office he has jetted around the world to explain why other people shouldn’t use jets.

The FBI spied on two of then-GOP Rep. Devin Nunes’s staffers while they were investigating the bureau for misconduct related to Spygate. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan sent FBI Director Christopher Wray a letter suggesting the Bureau retaliated against two of Nunes’s staffers for the House Intel’s oversight of the FBI. Recall, Nunes, who served as the House Intel Committee’s chairman from January 2015 to January 2019, vigorously investigated Russiagate. Nunes investigated the FBI’s role in Russiagate/Spygate and released a memo revealing Hillary Clinton’s fake dossier formed an essential part in obtaining FISA warrants to spy on Trump.

In the Trump era -- and in the media, it's still the Trump era -- there is no need to strain a mental muscle to prove journalists have a liberal bias. We find it everywhere. But there are still leftists who channel the spirit of Eric's "What Liberal Media?" Alterman and claim reporters tilt inescapably to the right. Claiming a liberal bias is somehow silly nonsense.Michael Tomasky -- who not too long ago was a reporter for Newsweek -- is now editor of The New Republic, and he claimed there's an appalling double standard in the political press. Media coverage of President Joe Biden is inherently unfair.

Donald Trump doesn’t usually engender comparisons to FDR. But he’s in a strong position to win a major party’s presidential nomination for the third consecutive time, something that hasn’t been done since Roosevelt won the Democratic nod four times in a row from 1932 to 1944.There’s a big asterisk here, of course. In the post-22nd Amendment world, with a president limited to two terms, Trump only has a shot at a three-peat because he lost his reelection bid in 2020. If Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, who all won reelection, hadn’t been barred from running a third time, they all would probably have secured their party’s nomination again easily.

Ron DeSantis is trying to reassure donors and activists that his campaign only looks stalled. A confidential campaign memo obtained by NBC News lays out what the Florida governor’s presidential campaign sees as its path forward: focusing on the early states, refusing to give up on New Hampshire, not yet investing in Super Tuesday battlegrounds, zeroing in on DeSantis’ biography and sowing doubts about his competitors — particularly Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. “While Super Tuesday is critically important, we will not dedicate resources to Super Tuesday that slow our momentum in New Hampshire,” the memo states. “We expect to revisit this investment in the Fall.”

A lot of politicians talk about free speech. But then you wonder if they genuinely even understand the concept. Particularly those on the liberal side of the aisle who seem all too cool with trying to shut down free speech on social media. The Biden team got shut down for their efforts at censorship in a landmark free speech case. But as we saw, they’re still trying to appeal that in court. They got smacked down again on Monday when the judge denied the Biden team’s motion to stay the injunction against the efforts at censorship pending the appeal.

BANGKOK  — Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, who served almost nine years in office after seizing power in a 2014 military coup, said Tuesday that he is leaving politics. His announcement came after the political party for which he served as a prime minister candidate this year finished fifth in May’s general election, capturing just 36 seats in the 500-member House of Representatives. Prayuth, 69, a former army commander, made the announcement on the Facebook page of Ruam Thai Sang Chart, or the United Thai Nation Party. He had been their nominee to return as prime minister.

There has been a lot of aggressive politicking around election policies over the past few years. From sea to shining sea there have been battles over voting by mail, voter identification rules and the like. For the most part, these have been partisan fights. Democrats cry out for loosening rules to make voting easier, and Republicans try to tighten them. Sure, the contestants often speak in lofty terms about their aims, but their motivations are plain. Each party wants to adjust the rules in ways they believe will increase their odds of winning. This is nothing new in American politics. The March 26, 1812,

Although it is not clear whether Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin plans to actually deploy these reservists anytime soon, the move suggests that the U.S. military’s training mission in Europe, along with the deployment of several new brigades after the invasion, has stretched active-duty forces. “This reaffirms the unwavering support and commitment

Former President Donald Trump, up by double digits over every GOP opponent in the critical early-voting state of Iowa, took a swing at the state’s popular Republican governor — and it may have backfired. Some influential Republicans in the state tell The Washington Times that Mr. Trump‘s social media attack on Gov. Kim Reynolds has caused them to rethink their support. They believe many others will follow. “She’s more popular here than he is, by far,” said Cody Hoefert, the former co-chair of the Iowa Republican Party. “And when he goes after her, that doesn’t bode well for him.”

Due to the lack of a solid suspect, the agency is closing its investigation. Katie had more on this yesterday. She included the statement from the Secret Service:
