Walt Nauta, an aide to former president Donald Trump, pleaded not guilty on Thursday in a Miami federal court to several counts of mishandling classified material and conspiracy to obstruct justice, following Special Counsel Jack Smith’s indictment. Nauta was present when Trump appeared in court on June 13 – when the former president pleaded not guilty to 37 federal counts, including over two dozen violations of the Espionage Act – but was not arraigned at the time due to lack of legal representation. Nauta did not speak to reporters outside the courthouse on Thursday following his arraignment.

Honduran Drug Dealers Say They’ve Flocked
to San Francisco Because of Sanctuary Laws

Honduran drug dealers have made a business hub out of San Francisco due to the progressive city’s sanctuary laws for illegal immigration, fueling the nation’s fentanyl epidemic and the visible decline of a major American city. San Francisco’s accommodative approach to illegal immigration makes it appealing to sell there, Honduran dealers told the San Francisco Chronicle as part of an in-depth investigation into how Honduran nationals have come to play a dominant role in the city’s drug crisis. Under current San Francisco law, last amended in July 2016, city employees are forbidden from using city resources to cooperate with any ICE investigation, detention, or arrest relating to an illegal immigration case.

Former Vice President Mike Pence remains committed to doling out military aid for Ukraine against Russia’s invasion if he wins the presidency in 2024. He isn’t very good at explaining why voters should agree with him. The Associated Press interviewed Pence about the “call for limited military assistance to Ukraine” from former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), his top GOP rivals. “With all due respect,” he said, “I think the former president and the governor of Florida just don’t understand Americans’ national interest in supporting the Ukrainian military in repelling the Russian military in Ukraine.”

Turkey has agreed to support Sweden's bid to join the NATO military alliance after a year of opposition, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said on Monday. He called the moment a "historic step." Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to send the accession protocol to the Turkish parliament for approval as soon as possible, the NATO chief said, noting that Erdogan would "ensure ratification." “Sweden will become a full member of the alliance,” Stoltenberg said. The news comes after Stoltenberg held talks between Erdogan and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson the evening before the NATO summit was slated to begin in Vilnius,

The New York Times announced that it would shutter its sports desk and shift the coverage it provided over to The Athletic on Monday. Executive editor Joe Kahn and deputy managing editor Monica Drake explained in an email to the paper’s staff that the Times plans “to focus even more directly on distinctive, high-impact news and enterprise journalism about how sports intersect with money, power, culture, politics and society at large,” with less “coverage of games, players, teams and leagues.” Coverage of sports will now be relegated to The Athletic,

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the Wagner mercenary chief and his fighters just days after they threatened to topple the country’s military leadership and marched on Moscow, the Kremlin said Monday. Yevgeny Prigozhin and top commanders at Wagner Group met Putin in the Kremlin on June 29, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during his daily call with reporters. The meeting lasted nearly three hours, Peskov said, and some 35 people attended. Prigozhin and other members of Wagner did not comment publicly on the meeting and the Kremlin's version of events couldn't be confirmed.

RedState has reported on the reception from legacy Hollywood and the Left on the unexpected box office smash Sound of Freedom, starring Passion of The Christ‘s Jim Caviezel. Caviezel portrays Tim Ballard, a federal agent who rescues a boy from captivity in South America, only to discover that his sister has been left behind. The rest of the film focuses on the mission to get her out of the country. This journey leads Ballard to found Operation Underground Railroad, which works to rescue children from human trafficking across the globe. One reason the Left is having conniption fits is because the film is building not only awareness about child trafficking

“Sound of Freedom,” a religious thriller led by “The Passion of the Christ” star Jim Caviezel, is becoming an unlikely box office savior. The faith-based movie about child sex trafficking has collected an impressive $40 million after six days of release. Angel Studios opened “Sound of Freedom” last Tuesday, generating a mighty $14.2 million on Independence Day. The film picked up another $18.2 million between Friday and Sunday, enough to place third on domestic box office charts behind “Insidious: The Red Door” ($32.6 million) and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” ($26.5 million). It’s also playing in 2,850 North American theaters — a smaller footprint

After a dismal $60 million opening, the Disney Grooming Syndicate’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny collapsed somewhere between 50 to 60 percent with a dreadful $25 to $28 million second weekend — and couldn’t even manage one consecutive first-place finish. What had once been one of the most popular and bulletproof franchises ever created finally met its match in Kathleen “Franchise Killer” Kennedy and her anti-entertainment identity politics. Kennedy might be offscreen, but she is the true villainess in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which should’ve been called Indiana Jones and Talentless Queendom of Woke Child Grooming Nazis. The leftist media in the United States have officially reached the point where they found an enemy they hate more than former President Donald Trump. Conservatives have pointed out that whoever the new media enemy is turns into the worst person ever and the old hated Republican is seen in retrospect as not that bad compared to the new enemy. Bush was called evil and racist and compared to Hitler until John McCain & Mitt Romney ran for President. Then Bush was talked about favorably in comparison to the latter two. Like clockwork, Donald Trump appeared on the scene and suddenly McCain & Romney were the ideal Republicans.

New York Magazine’s “Intelligencer” feature ran a fawning portrayal of President Joe Biden Friday, which mostly focused on his ice cream habits, cute text arguments with wife Jill, and his aching desire to be home in Delaware. The tone of the article was mostly, “what a nice older gentleman, aren’t his foibles endearing,” but several details describe someone who doesn’t sound all that decent. For starters, he makes Vice President Kamala Harris sit through self-congratulating slide shows. As little sympathy as I have for the quote-challenged VP, I have to admit this sounds like Chinese water torture: Once a week, Biden eats lunch with Harris, following a pattern he established

Nearly half of that came in the first 24 hours. The DeSantis campaign shared its fundraising data with Fox News, touting the fact that this haul was the “largest first-quarter filing from any non-incumbent Republican candidate in more than a decade,” and that it even “bests the $18.3 million former president and quasi-incumbent Donald Trump’s campaign raised

The headlines were stark and specific. Reuters claimed, “World registers hottest day ever recorded on July 3.” Well, “ever recorded” is misleading since the records have only been “recorded” since 1979. But what kind of a headline would that have been? At least the BBC was honest about their scare headline: “World’s hottest day since records began.” The bottom line: We’re all going to burn up and we’re all going to die unless we throw an hysterical climate change tantrum and demand that our government take panicky steps to save us from the climate change demons. There’s no doubt that this Independence Day was hot. It was very hot. It was uncomfortably hot

An archbishop in the Church of England said the opening of the “Lord’s Prayer” is considered “problematic” to some people because the 2,000-year-old prayer starts by addressing God as “Our Father.” Archbishop of York Stephen Cottrell told the General Synod, the legislating and ruling body of the Church of England, that referring to God as “father” might be offensive to some people because of the negative connotations of patriarchy. “I know the word ‘father’ is problematic for those whose experience of earthly fathers has been destructive and abusive, and for all of us who have labored rather too much from an oppressively patriarchal grip on life,” Cottrell said,

Stein’s Law holds that “If something cannot go on forever, it will stop.” The late Herbert Stein made the observation about economic trends, but his axiom perfectly describes Joe Biden’s shaky dance with political death. The president is trying to navigate a narrow path between two potential disasters. Each one could prove fatal to his tenure, but if the twain shall meet, he doesn’t have a prayer. And it’s a near certainty they will meet because the facts we already know are overwhelmingly stacked against him and more damaging information is coming soon. One track of his predicament stems from general public unhappiness with his performance.

Major legal rulings that dismantled the use of race in college admissions, undermined protections for LGBTQ people and tossed out President Joe Biden’s student debt relief program marked the end of a Supreme Court term in which the conservative supermajority continued to exert its dominance. The majority also doubled down on a controversial legal theory that limits the power of federal agencies to take unilateral action. Meanwhile, the justices rejected a far-fetched argument that would have limited the role of state courts in election disputes and turned away an aggressive attempt to challenge Biden administration immigration policy – both areas in which lawyers on the right might have overreached in their arguments.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was slammed for bowing multiple times when she met with China's vice premier He Lifeng, as some critics say the protocol error is a sign of American weakness. Yellen, who served as chair of the Federal Reserve before becoming Joe Biden's top financial official, wrapped up her first visit to China as treasury secretary on Sunday. Moments after bowing at least three times, Yellen then stumbled over He's name, calling him 'Vice Premier Hu.' Both Washington and Beijing said the meetings during her four-day trip were fruitful, although the visit - designed to help smooth a rocky relationship - did not generate any concrete agreements.
