South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) blasted Ben & Jerry’s anti-American 4th of July message and said the leadership of the company hasn’t studied its history enough.
On Independence Day, Ben & Jerry’s Twitter account posted a message pushing for the return of “stolen Indigenous land,” including Mount Rushmore, located in South Dakota, to Native American groups. Attached to the tweet was a company article that said Mount Rushmore should be returned first, linking to a petition to return the iconic American landmark. Governor Noem had other thoughts on the matter.

kind of funny isn't it. These people claim we were invaders who stole land from indigenous people but actively promote invaders into countries like Hungary, Poland, Sweden, France, England even against the wishes of the indigenous people living there.

There's evidence Chinese and Europeans made it to this country long before 'native' Americans. I was waiting for someone to start in on Rushmore. Too them long enough. Let's see them move a mountain to get rid of it.

Give Vermont back to the Abenaki and maybe we'll talk. Although I am of the Cherokee and Choctaw, I recognize that the U.S. didn't steal the land we citizens occupy, as much as they, in the finest Native American tradition, conquered it by warfare; however, what Andrew Jackson did to the "civilized tribes," resulting in the Trail of Tears, is criminal. Be that as it may, my 3/4th blood father fought in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam to preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution and I followed in his footsteps. No one is taking our country without a good old fashion shootin' war. If only the more "pure" Americans of European descent among us would believe similarly. Too many have obviously, by their own repeated statements, given up on the U.S. of A. and our political system, handed us by our country's founders. Cowards, the whole lot of them.

“Stolen lands?” No, conquered lands. There is a big difference. We need to be careful when judging the people of history on morality. Until the 20th century it was perfectly legal and was considered morally ok to start a war against another country and take their land. Germany didn’t get the memo and declared war on the world twice in the 20th Century.

Won't buy anything from Vermont. None of their Teddy Bears, cheese, maple syrup, etc. Not to go off topic but South Dakota has the best looking governor I've ever seen. She has commercials trying to get folks to move to South Dakota. Sorry, I saw the movie Fargo.

These two fools have been numpty headed morons pushing a not so good product for a long time. Plenty of other choices out there and priced a whole lot better as well. How much of Vermont are they willing to give up? Like we say to other liberals, your suggestion so you go first.

If that's the case, then we better push out all the illegals since they're "stealing the land." What say you Ben & Jerry?

Aren't Ben and Jerry's owner sitting on indigenous land? If they are so ardent about their cause, why haven't they given their land back to the Native American Tribe that lived there back in the 1600's?

Indian tribes officially recognized by Vermont:
Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation.
Elnu Abenaki Tribe (See Nulhegan Abenaki Tribe of northeast Vermont.)
Koasek Abenaki Tribe.
Mississquoi Abenaki Tribe.
They are waiting to be contacted by Ben and Jerry's lawyers about when they can take possession of the ice cream factory land. The superstructure, of course, belongs to the company, but they can pay rent, and back rent owed.

Ben and Jerry want to give the Black Hills back to the Lakota. Well, the Lakota stole that land from some other tribe.

Re #6 - If you haven't seen it already, I highly recommend the film: Hostiles. It came out in 2017 and stars Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike. I am not a Western fan but I thoroughly enjoyed this film and its narrative.
How about we return all of the Hawaiian islands to the natives. Buh bye Obama seaside mansion.

you know I think if we do our homework and anwer with actual history we will win something every time and all of it some of the time. knowing US history is not a strength of the other party though they have credentials. the facts are not actually on their side, and even when it is... the dialogue itself will raise curiosity about truth and the past. we would not be in so much tumult now if people knew the history of reconstruction.

Typical mush-minded yankees. Presuming to tell others what to do with their property everywhere they go. And while the injustices were being committed by the yankee power brokers against the conquered Indian tribes, the same oppressive government was doing much the same to the conquered southern states. The Outlaw Josey Wales was very loosely based on the history of that time, but has more than a grain of reality to it.

#19 and #20:
Here's a map from the Library of Congress showing locations of tribes in the 1600s:
https://www.loc.gov/resource/g3301e.ct000669/?r=0.387,0.499,0.421,0.235,0
Apparently, the Dakotas area was the home of the Arikara (aka Ricarees), Mandan and Hidatsa. The Sioux, pushed out of the Great Lakes region by the Ojibiwa (aka Chippewa), didn't have to fight the above for the land, as those tribes had been almost annihilated by smallpox.
However, the Crow were there. I seem to remember the Crow and the Sioux didn't get along. Maybe the Crow resented the new immigrants into the area. So maybe Ben and Jerry ought to push to give the Black Hills to the Crow?
Try it. Oh, please try it.
