About 300 Californians moved to Texas each day in 2021 - a staggering 111,000 people, newly released data shows.
That is double the 63,000 that made the same move in 2012, according to a new report from Storage Café, which examined California-Texas migration patterns over nearly a decade.
Of those that moved in 2021, nearly half were millennials, born between 1981 and 1996, and headed to counties around major cities such as Austin, Houston and Dallas. The study found Californians were lured from their state by a number of factors, including cheaper housing, lower taxes and booming work opportunities

In the near future the headlines will read: "Texas infected with liberals, homeless drug addicts running wild in the streets, welfare at all time highs, Texas legislature votes to legalize illegal immigrants"...you get the picture?

They shouldn't be allowed to leave the mess they created. Live with it or fix it.

The left has already turned Dallas, Houston, and even Hispanic San Antonio to the darkside. Austin was already lost to woke UT student/grads and dopers long, long, ago. This more recent exodus has made housing unaffordable even in far-distant bedroom communities. and running away from one's voting mistakes appears not to have taught these people anything at all.

... and they keep voting for the same far left-wing candidates and policies that destroyed their own state.

That’s OK as long as they don’t bring their leftist Democrat politics with them and infest Texas.

Texas may need a wall on ALL of its borders. I live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and I see more new houses and apartments springing up every day, and every day the traffic gets worse. Illegal immigrants flooding in from the south and legal ones from the west, and if the Californians bring their politics with them they might be worse.

Not for long! The prices of homes in my area (Dallas/ Fort Worth) have taken off like crazy in the last 2 years. My own home is now worth $150k more than when I bought it 4.5 years ago. There are homes, like one I saw online this past week, which are small in square footage, need huge repairs, including graffiti removal, selling for more than what I paid 4.5 years ago! I actually blame this on the new arrivals. They are buying up homes and hand with all their cash and building what we call "McMansions" in their place. Property and home prices are soaring, property taxes are going through the roof (mine is almost $5k for two districts), and a first time home buyer of modest means is going to have a hard time affording a place to live. Even apartments have become very high.
I remember about 15 years ago watching the show House Hunters. On one episode in California, they were in home similar to the mid-century modern home I lived in. My home would have sold in the higher $100,000s, this home sold for about $450k. Now, there are homes like my old home selling for about that much in this area. It's outrageous.

And here in Colorado, we see many cars on I 70 with California license plates passing through. Ok for them to pass through. But the lefty ones can take their politics with them.

So sorry, Texas. I visited there many times and liked most of the people I met. Your rugged individuality and love of freedom have made you attractive to invaders from the south and the west. Both directions seek to exploit and ultimately destroy that which made you special.

I see the same things going on here as #9 is seeing in the D/FW area and I am in a rural area 100 miles away. We are also getting refugees from D/FW, San Antonio, and Houston. Land prices are going up 3, 4, and 5X in last 3 years. Houses and rents up the same. To add to that, they don't have the sense God gave a rock when it comes to driving Farm-to-Market roads.

You are not alone, #16, our Panhandle FM roads already have idiot kids in their 70K pickups driving crazy. We now have newcomers from the city used to 60-75MPH speeds forgetting to slow the heck down.
With expansion of Texas Tech and W Texas A&M, we gets lots of academics moving here and they are not conservative. Delicate lands around palm Duro Canyon grow more dotted with mcmansions every year. We wonder what our rural areas will be like in ten years. We are the Golden State just as California then Republican-run was in the 50’s-80’s. Look what happened to them…
