Some parts of the city of Chicago saw nine or more inches of rain fall over the weekend, and after thousands of residents were left dealing with basement flooding, officials are seeking state disaster relief. (Snip) Johnson also called for additional funds for flood prevention, saying that climate change will only cause more severe weather events in years to come. “Clearly the Earth is speaking to us loud and clear, where extreme weather is taking place all over the country,” he said. “Unfortunately because of some of the failed policies that have left our environment vulnerable, this is not likely the last extreme example of weather.”

I for one am all for helping these poor Chicagoans out. Basements are the civilian term for bunkers. Bunkers are used to protect the occupants form enemy fire. And in Chicago, there is plenty of enemy fire. Especially on weekends. We need to help since women and children are usually the most impacted by enemy fire in Chicago.

We can all live in caves and what is will be until the real violators like China and India cease and desist. Meaning that our failures, if you believe that, have nothing to do with the storms. Too bad James wasn't around when the Spanish Amanda went down off the Florida coast.

They spew this "climate change" mantra out for everything now, as if they have proof that it's the actual cause. Why are most of the hottest temperatures in the 1920's? You know the hottest day of the year on the weather portion of the news. I think it's time they produce the actual data that supports their theory/claim.

Some of ya'll are missing the bigger picture...This was just mother nature fighting back against the NASCAR street race that had been scheduled for the weekend. Basements can flood for a variety of reasons. Clogged gutters, clogged storm drains, and unprotected window wells are big causes.

I think that Chicago has always had flooding problems. I remember reading many (40 or so) years ago, about the Chicago 'TARP' storm-water tunnel project This is a HUGE system of tunnels and underground reservoirs designed to drain away mixed sewerage and storm-water, which are then pumped back out and treated before being released. Here's more information on it: Link: https://mwrd.org/tunnel-and-reservoir-plan-tarp Later, I read about another HUGE project that Chicago undertook, back in the 1850's..... they RAISED THE ENTIRE TOWN between 4 and 14 feet. Sound crazy?.... but they DID it! Here's a link to an article describing it: Link: https://www.enjoyillinois.com/illinois-200/raising-chicago/ Chicago used to be called "The City that Works", and it was an accurate label. It is a crime, what has become of Chicago, with all the murders, urban decay and Thug Culture.

#1. To refer to the thugs of Chicago as Amish implies the Amish people are stupid and ignorant. They are neither. they are God loving Americans who are peaceful, kind and well behaved people. Please stop referencing them as BLM and Antifa thugs.

Chicago (CBS) - A burglar who can't see something can't steal it either – that is the idea behind a new method of deterring crime by using fog. As CBS 2's Tara Molina reported Tuesday, the technology behind the fog release is a brand-new way of fighting the mass retail thefts plaguing the city. (Snip) "DensityUSA's instant fog technology is pretty unique," said Mike Egel, president and chief executive officer of DensityUSA. "When a criminal breaks in after hours, the alarm deploys; the fog deploys, and in seconds, your business is going to be protected." The reason, Egel said, is because the burglars won't be able to see what they're doing.

Austin, Texas — Liberal policies have led to a shocking explosion in homeless camps across the state capital, with around 10,000 people living in 168 different areas that have popped up across the city, sources tell The Post. The illegal camps have been visited and mapped by local filmmaker Jaime Hammonds and show how out of control Austin’s homeless crisis has become. His map reveals the clandestine encampments have spread to a far greater extent than many taxpaying residents had previously realized — dotting the entire city, including near popular tourist destinations (Snip) Hammonds warns that an even bigger public safety threat could be looming as the sites remain largely unregulated

Federal agencies are secretly accumulating mountains of data that could be used for “blackmail, stalking, harassment and public shaming” of American citizens. That allegation doesn’t come from a pink-haired civil-liberties fanatic — it’s in a new report for the nation’s chief spymaster, Avril Haines. The Fourth Amendment recognized Americans’ right “to be secure . . . against unreasonable searches and seizures.” But Washington is mothballing that lofty standard for a new motto: “Those who have nothing to hide have nothing to fear.” The latest federal surveillance tsunami is being spurred by purchases of commercially available information (CAI) that private companies vacuum up from data from smartphones, computers and other digital devices and trackers.
