WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to impose new limits on state courts reviewing certain election-related issues by ruling against Republicans in North Carolina fighting for a congressional district map that would heavily favor their candidates. The justices ruled in a 6-3 vote that the North Carolina Supreme Court was acting within its authority in concluding that the map constituted a partisan gerrymander under the state Constitution. In doing so, the court declined to embrace a broad version of a hitherto obscure legal argument called the “independent state legislature” theory, which Republicans say limits the authority of state courts to strike down certain election laws enacted by state

Since when can the Federal tell States how to conduct their elections of any stripe? Is this entry to Federal laws regarding State elections? What's next? Mandating use of a specific electronic voting machine?

The Roberts court is the most corrupt cabal of basterdes in my life. Denied states their standing in probably the most serious election fraud scheme in Americas history Now they are taking control of the process. Levin called these crooks black robed tyrants for a reason.

As always - - Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch are the only true Constitutionalists. Kavanaugh has a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome - - where he licks the hands of the people who brutalized him. And Barrett is a hopeless ninny. President Trump - - you must do better - - way better - - with SC appointments than you did in your first term.

FTA: the court declined to embrace a broad version of a hitherto obscure legal argument called the “independent state legislature” theory I find it interesting the article makes this statement, but when someone has a similarly different, or stretched legal theory, that may benefit Trump, it's considered something totally different according to the MSM and today's Democrats. Yet, stretched legal theories from people like Weissmann and Smith, are being considered as wonderful and simply believed, by the very MSM and today's Democrats, who seem to be very easily influenced by anything that confirms their implicit biases.

From a lay perspective, legal arcana of this sort is guesswork. Do not state courts have the power to review the actions of state legislatures? No need for kneejerk reactions here.

And is anyone surprised? Had the Supreme Joke followed the Constitution, it would effectively stripped itself of power to interfere in elections. Convention of States is imperative. It is clear the 3 branches of the goobernment have no idea what a Constitution is and what is in the Constitution. Limiting all three branches of the goobernment is our only hope.

Astronomers ‘hear’ the celestial choir

Astronomers have been able to “hear” the celestial hum of powerful gravitational waves, created by collisions between black holes, echoing across the universe for the first time. Their observations reveal that the waves — including some that slowly undulate as they pass through our Milky Way galaxy — occur at different frequencies and oscillate for decades. The discovery could help scientists better understand cosmic phenomena like supermassive black holes and how often galaxies merge. Gravitational waves, initially predicted by Albert Einstein in 1916, are ripples in space-time that were first detected in 2015. Astronomers found the waves by tracking pulsars, or the dense remnants of cores

The remains were recovered “within the wreckage” of the submersible, the Coast Guard said in a news release – an announcement coming nearly a week after authorities determined the Titanic-bound vessel had imploded in the North Atlantic, killing all five men aboard. US medical professionals will analyze the presumed remains, the Coast Guard said. Also Wednesday, huge pieces of the submersible were hoisted onto a Canadian pier, according to the company leading the effort and photos of the task.

Special Counsel Jack Smith was likely waiting on the Supreme Court's decision on the "independent state legislature theory" before deciding to proceed with charges against the former president over Jan. 6, a conservative former judge has said. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court shot down the controversial independent state legislature theory, which would have had the potential to radically change the way elections are run across the country. According to the fringe legal theory, legislatures have exclusive and near-absolute power in setting the rules of federal elections, without being challenged by state courts. But a majority of justices voted to reaffirm that state courts can curtail the actions

Washington — Systemic negligence, misconduct, and overall under-resourcing among federal prison staff and facilities contributed to the conditions that enabled financier Jeffrey Epstein to die by suicide in his prison cell, the Justice Department's inspector general concluded in a report released Tuesday. The 66-year-old financier was found dead in his New York prison cell in 2019 a little over a month after federal authorities took him into custody for the alleged sex trafficking of minors. He was accused of exploiting and abusing dozens of underage girls and utilizing a network of employees to ensure continued access to victims, according to

Leave it up to The Atlantic to tell us we've got too many food choices in a grocery store, and for our own good, we ought to have less. That's pretty much what writer Adam Fleming wrote in his plaintive cry against too much choice at the grocery store. On a recent afternoon, while running errands before I had to pick up my kids from school, I froze in the orange-juice aisle of a big-box store. So many different brands lay before me: Minute Maid, Simply, Tropicana, Dole, Florida’s Natural, Sunny D—not to mention the niche organic labels. And each brand offered juices with various configurations of pulp, vitamins, and concentrate.
