US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Beijing early Sunday on a high-stakes diplomatic mission to try to cool exploding US-China tensions that have set many around the world on edge.
Blinken was to begin two days of talks with senior Chinese officials in the afternoon. He is the highest-level American official to visit China since President Joe Biden took office and the first secretary of state to make the trip in five years.
The trip comes after he postponed plans to visit in February over a Chinese spy balloon that was shot down after drifting over the US, further inflaming tensions between DC and Beijing.

The number of New Jersey students claiming to be “nonbinary” has increased by over 4,200 percent in four years, according to figures released by the state’s Department of Education.
The number of students in pre-kindergarten through senior year claiming to be “nonbinary” increased from 16 to 675 from 2019 to 2022, according to the data.
Eight of those children are in preschool.
“In the 2019–2020 school year, of those 16 nonbinary students, 10 were in high school. The youngest was in second grade, state records show,” the Epoch Times reports. “In the 2020–2021 school year, there were 85 nonbinary students; the two youngest two were in pre-kindergarten classes.

The U.S. Army is considering a new tape test that will help officers measure a soldier’s body fat, according to a new report.
"We want well-balanced soldiers," Army Sgt. Maj. Michael Grinston told Task and Fitness in March. "We didn’t want people to game it so you’d be really strong in one area, but you wouldn’t be well-rounded in fitness overall."
The previous tape test, which the Army uses to determine body fat content, measured soldiers around their necks, waists and hips. Critics have long called the method outdated and inadequate for gauging fitness, according to military.com.

Majorities of registered voters believe that special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment of former President Donald Trump is “politically motivated” and election interference, according to a Harvard/Harris poll.
A portion of the poll, which was conducted after Trump’s arraignment, gauged public perception of the 37-count indictment relating to classified documents Trump allegedly took to Mar-a-Lago at the end of his presidency. Of the registered voter respondents, 55 percent believe that the indictment is “politically motivated” versus 45 percent who find it “valid.”

Conservatives with close ties to Donald J. Trump are laying out a “paradigm-shifting” legal rationale to erase the Justice Department’s independence from the president. The essence? The lefty paper was agog - I say again, agog! - at the idea that the former president and his conservative crew were plotting how to “erase the Justice Department’s independence from the president” if and when Trump were to become president again.

President Joe Biden finally hit the road to deliver a campaign-style speech in a battleground state after launching his reelection in April.
Biden visited Philadelphia, near where he grew up, to tout his agenda and new labor endorsements at a labor rally in a state that was key to his 2020 win.
The 80 year-old president raced through remarks, railed against billionaires, and joked with the crowd as he hammered home his economic message to a crowd of about 2,000 members.'I'm more honored by your endorsement than you can imagine,' Biden told a crowd of about 200 members of organized labor, most decked out in T-shirts with their union names,

It’s showtime – and both lab leak enthusiasts and those who believe in natural origins (the ‘zoonati’) are nervous. No later than Sunday, and perhaps sooner, America’s director of National Intelligence must, by law, “declassify” and make public all “information relating to the origins of Covid-19”. It could be a huge moment, or a terrible anticlimax. By the time the deadline is reached, it will have been 1,265 days since news of a “mystery pneumonia” first emerged from Wuhan – and for much of that time a small group of US intelligence officials have anonymously been briefing that the virus came from a lab.

Apart of its continuing effort to make our lives less convenient and pleasant President Biden represented by “climate czar” John Kerry has signed a global agreement with 12 other countries to place farmers under new restrictions to reduce emissions of methane gas, all in the name of fighting "climate change." One of the chief characteristics of the stereotypical "banana republic" is that, whether or not it has bananas, it is not a republic, but rather a military dictatorship. "El presidente" may speak Spanish, Russian, or Korean. Soon, another language may be added: American English.
One of the core values that has kept us a republic (if we can keep it) is that of civilian control of the military armed forces. Generals and admirals take orders from the commander-in-chief, who is the president of the United States, just as surely as "buck privates" obey orders from the general.
It is shocking to witness the decline of that principle in practice.

Elon Musk's aerospace aspirations are set to be helped by the 'youngest employed software engineer on the planet'.
Kairan Quazi, 14, landed a prestigious job at the space exploration company's satellite team, shortly before his upcoming graduation from Santa Clara University.
The teen virtuoso could speak full sentences aged just two and completed complex math equations at six, but admitted his school years were a struggle as his peers failed to keep up.'It was physically painful for me to sit through classrooms trapped, existentially bored, for hours and months — and eventually years — on end, and not learning at the level that I physically, intellectually and emotionally needed,' he

The Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team is facing a Bud Light-style boycott after inviting a controversial LGBTQ group of drag queen 'nuns' to a Pride Night ceremony - enraging the Catholic community and sparking protests on Friday.
The group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, was invited to appear before the Dodgers' game against the San Francisco Giants, and receive an award for their community work.
The ceremony to award the Community Hero Award to the 'nuns' was held before an almost-empty stadium, ahead of the game - but outside, protesters gathered.

In an unprecedented move, twenty armed Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agents carried out a raid on a gun store in Great Falls, Montana, seizing all Form 4473s – documents that record buyer’s information during firearms transactions.
Tom Van Hoose, owner of Highwood Creek Outfitters, alleges that he has been under constant surveillance by state and federal agencies for over two years, KRTV reported.
On Wednesday, the gun shop owner reported an unexpected visit from 20 heavily armed IRS agents at his store.
The agents reportedly arrived at the shop early in the morning, as Van Hoose was opening for the day.

Trans activist Rose Montoya, a man who identifies as a woman, apologized after briefly going topless at a White House Pride Month event, an act the Biden administration later called “inappropriate and disrespectful.”
In a three-minute long clip posted on Friday on TikTok, Montoya said that “Today I need to apologize…in a quick moment of fleeting and overwhelming trans joy I decided to do something unbecoming of a guest of the President at the White House lawn celebration.”

A new study estimates there were 24,290 fewer legal abortions between July 2022 and March 2023, after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.
FiveThirtyEight obtained the study from #WeCount, which is a national research project led by the Society of Family Planning, a nonprofit that supports research about abortion and contraception. That study found that there were more than 24,000 fewer abortions compared to a pre-Dobbs baseline. #WeCount made its estimate by contacting every abortion clinic in the country multiple times over a twelve-month period.

After these last seven years, it’s obvious any politician who questions the Congress-defying security state will get the Trump treatment.
counting — has seen the nation’s top Republican politician framed, impeached, raided, prosecuted, and now indicted by corrupt spy agencies on behalf of the Democrat Party. Their goal is to send their top political opponent to prison on charges they said were fascist to bring against their own presidential candidates.
After these last seven years, how can anyone not expect that any Republican who questions the unelected, Congress-defying security state won’t get the Trump treatment? If they can and will do it to Trump,

Opposition is in full swing to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ on-field ceremony honoring the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, an organization of “drag nuns” that the Catholic League calls an anti-Catholic hate group. Thousands of Catholics, other Christians, and even some people of the Jewish faith gathered in a parking lot near the Dodgers’ stadium on Friday afternoon to pray ahead of the game. Later, the religious groups marched to Dodger Stadium, shutting down one entryway on Vin Scully Avenue.
Weeks of momentous opposition led to the drag nuns being announced on-field to a mostly empty stadium, while receiving some boos from baseball fans in attendance.

During Friday’s CNN This Morning, the network covered 16 young people suing the state of Montana over climate change. Chief climate correspondent Bill Weir portrayed the young people as the heroes of a movie where they attempt to fend off the Republican-controlled government, despite admitting that the lawsuit would not change anything even if the judge ruled in favor of the plaintiffs. The lawsuit merely singled out Montana Republicans and blamed them for the existence of fossil fuel. CNN called it “fascinating” and “such a great story.” The case hinged on the following clause in the Montana state constitution: “The state shall maintain and improve a clean and healthful environment

A hypothetical 2024 poll shows that former President Donald Trump is tied with President Joe Biden in Michigan, a state the Republican won in 2016 but lost in 2020, in a hypothetical general election matchup. The EPIC-MRA poll, released Friday morning, shows Biden and Trump in a dead heat in the Wolverine State at 44 percent apiece. Another 12 percent are either undecided or refused to answer. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) performs slightly better in a hypothetical head-to-head with the 80-year-old Biden, leading 45 percent to 44 percent. In that matchup, 11 percent of the poll participants are undecided. Trump narrowly won Michigan over twice-failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton
