Silvio Berlusconi, 86, the boastful billionaire media mogul who was Italy’s longest-serving premier despite scandals over his sex-fueled parties and allegations of corruption, died Monday, according to his television network. Mediaset announced his death with a smiling photo of the man on its homepage and the headline: “Berlusconi is dead.” Berlusconi was hospitalized on Friday for the second time in months for treatment of chronic leukemia. He also suffered over the years from heart ailments, prostate cancer and was hospitalized for COVID-19 in 2020. A onetime cruise ship crooner, Berlusconi used his television networks and immense wealth to launch his long political career, inspiring both loyalty and loathing.

Sex-fueled parties? Well then, how's MP Ilona Staller (aka, Cicciolina) doing these days?

Here’s a hint. This underlying cause is also the fuel of the epidemic of loneliness identified by the US Surgeon General in May. Here too, few of our experts want to just state the obvious. Marriage – at least the growing lack of it – is the underlying cause of both recent stories. The newly published Nationwide Study on Faith and Relationships shows how the collapse of marriage is causing our societally explosive levels of loneliness and isolation. Paradoxically to some, loneliness is not largely an epidemic for the elderly, but for the young. Our study found those never married in their 30s – both men and women
Trump Should Return to Being Unpredictable 13 replies

The best move for former President Donald Trump is the most unexpected. Being unpredictable or unconventional was the trait that helped him win the White House in 2016 and would help him today. The baseball pitcher that tips off his pitches eventually gets hit hard, looks terrible, and does not last long in a game against professional hitters. Trump must do something that no one would expect - maybe a change-up pitch after countless fastballs. Trump should be magnanimous and withdraw from the presidential race.

Everyone knows there are budget deficits, except, it seems, the union and the elected officials behind them. The city’s new contract — which gives teachers raises and bonuses of up to 20% and retroactively to 2022 — is particularly rich when taxpaying companies, from local McDonald’s to major corporations such as Morgan Stanley and Meta are making major layoffs. At a $37.5 billion total budget, the city Department of Education spending per student is higher than any other system in the world, let alone country. The public-district schools’ per student spending is $36,000, against the per public-charter-school-student cost of $18,000. Once the smaller-class-size law Gov. Hochul signed is implemented,

Conservative radio host Clay Travis called former Vice President Mike Pence "pretty disrespectful" to his old boss in a tense interview Wednesday about whether the Republican presidential candidate would pardon Donald Trump if elected president. Travis, who along with co-host Buck Sexton has said the federal prosecution of Trump for mishandling classified documents is politicized, challenged Pence to directly answer if he would pardon Trump as a matter of principle. "These are serious charges," Pence said. "I can't defend what's been alleged, but the president does deserve to make his defense."

First, the politics. The early indications are that predictions that Trump supporters would rally around him in the event of an indictment appear to be true. A poll by CBS News and YouGov found that 76% of likely Republican primary voters said that the indictment was politically motivated. When asked if the indictment would change their view of Trump, 61% said it would not change their view at all, while 14% said it would change their view of Trump for the better. Just seven percent said it would change their view of Trump for the worse, and 18% said it depends, meaning they weren't really sure.

NEW YORK (AP) — To its members, it’s a grassroots army of “joyful warriors” who “don’t co-parent with the government.” To anti-hate researchers, it’s a well-connected extremist group that attacks inclusion in schools. And to Republicans vying for the presidency, it has become a potential key partner in the fight for the 2024 nomination. Moms for Liberty didn’t exist during the last presidential campaign, but the Florida-based nonprofit that champions “parental rights” in education has rapidly become a major player for 2024, boosted in part by GOP operatives, politicians and donors.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s four years in the White House, even on some of the most consequential days of his presidency, were punctuated by the spectacle and attempts at showmanship he cultivated from years as a tabloid fixture and reality star. The former president’s history-making appearance Tuesday as a criminal defendant in a Florida federal court was no different. The former commander in chief, accused of being careless with some of the country’s most sensitive secrets and obstructing authorities as they tried to recover critical documents, pleaded not guilty to 37 charges. But he treated the day like a campaign event,

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday branded the 37-count federal indictment he faces as nothing more than a “distraction” from the bribery allegations levied against President Biden — while also taking aim at his own ex-attorney general William Barr for not backing him over the classified documents case. Trump, 76, in an interview with ally Roger Stone, said he doubted it was a “coincidence” that he was charged for allegedly storing hundreds of classified government files at his Mar-a-Lago estate at the same time as Republicans revealed more details regarding an FBI informant’s accusation that Biden took part in a $5 million bribery scheme involving the Ukrainian company Burisma.

House Democrats keep lying about the FBI’s handling of a “highly credible” confidential human source (CHS), who reported that the Ukrainian owner of Burisma bragged about paying then-Vice President Joe Biden a $5 million bribe. Their persistence suggests the FBI is poised to peddle selectively leaked documents to cover up its political favoritism and interference in the 2020 election. On Friday, Democrat Ro Khanna went on Fox News to discuss the scandal surrounding the FD-1023 form that implicated Biden in a bribery scandal. Khanna, a member of the House Oversight Committee, along with other committee members, had reviewed the FD-1023 the previous day. After professing his full trust in the president,

Audacity is Joe Biden’s magic power. When the walls are closing in, he laughs in your face and dares you to come after him. He did it last week when he laughed at a question about “damning evidence in an FBI file” that he allegedly took a $5 million bribe from a Ukrainian energy company in return for a policy decision when he was vice president. “Where’s the money?” he quipped, before calling the allegation “a bunch of malarkey.” Forgive us if we don’t take the president at his word, because he has lied before about his involvement in the international “pay to play”

America's first black president took aim at black Republican senator Tim Scott for saying his party was 'doing a fabulous job of making progress.' Scott launched his run for president last month on an optimistic platform and has put his own story of struggle at the center of his campaign, with a philosophy that suggests everyone can succeed if they want to. It would have fined him $16 million, half the special counsel investigation’s cost.

Paul F. Ryan declared on Black Tuesday that the federal indictment of former president Trump makes Trump unelectable in 2024. I hasten to put this backstabbing comment into context. Last November, Ryan predicted that Mr. Trump would lose the 2024 presidential election. Earlier this year, Ryan announced that if the former president is the Republican candidate in 2024, he will not go to the party's convention, to be held in Milwaukee, this July. Ryan is from Wisconsin. It should also be noted that in October 2016, Ryan declared that he will not campaign for, nor defend, Mr. Trump, then the GOP presidential candidate.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted against the idea of censuring and condemning Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., for insisting that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. In a 225-196 vote, lawmakers decided to set aside the censure resolution against Schiff, effectively killing it and preventing a vote on passage. The resolution, introduced by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., was opposed by 20 Republicans as two other GOP lawmakers voted "present" along with five Democrats. The resolution was known to be on shaky ground with some Republicans. One expected "no" vote, Rep. Tom Massie, R-Ky., said he opposed the idea of a fine against Schiff

The event was led by the Spectrum Club, an LGBT club for students and “allies.” In response, some students reportedly wore only red, white, and blue colored clothing and chanted, “U.S.A. are my pronouns,” and took down LGBT-themed banners and stickers.
