Drones struck Moscow on Tuesday but were neutralised, Russia said, in what one politician called the worst attack on the capital since World War II, while Kyiv was also hit from the air for the third time in 24 hours. Since Russia invaded its neighbour in February last year, the war has largely been fought inside Ukraine, though Moscow has reported some attacks on its territory and blamed them on Ukraine, including an alleged assassination attempt against President Vladimir Putin. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said two people were injured, but not seriously, while some residents in two lightly damaged apartment

OP - I'm hearing this from other sources, too, and this is not good news. The Russians are fiercer than most countries about protecting the rodina, or homeland. They aren't going to take this lightly.

A previous "drone attack" on the Kremlin a few weeks back has been judged by most observers to be a false flag attack. I doubt that Ukraine has done this, they have far more important targets in their own country which are full of armed Russians who are more critical targets for their very limited long range capabilities. Putin, however, has an apparently politically urgent need to keep flogging the "Ukraine is attacking and we must defend ourselves from them" lie with the Russian public, while Putin's troops continue their invasion of a neighboring country. It is pretty apparent now that what was judged to be "the second best army in the world" three years ago, is actually "the second best army in Ukriane". The only effective fighting force on the Russian side, PMC Wagner, is withdrawing from Ukraine, heading to Africa, where I imagine Prigozhin will wait for an opportunity to return to Russia as a hero with a "stabilizing force" if there is political unrest. Forty oligarchs have formed private armies in the last couple of years, apparently to defend themselves from high rise windows. I can't see how having forty private armies, complete with tanks and artillery, is a stabilizing development in any country. Putin's inability to progress in his "three day war" on Ukraine has caused many of his buddies in Russia to question his competence, an amazing number of them, in public, and still living. Putin has a history of false flag 'terrorism' in the past, calling it "Chechen terrorism" during the failing Chechen war. Old habits and all that.

The way Putin keeps poisoning or throwing out of windows so many of his political opponents, I wouldn't be surprised if it is either a false flag or some of those better hidden opponent's attempts at payback. If the world gave Zelensky drones that could deliver weapons he'd have them on the black market in no time.

Paraphrasing Sir Arthur Harris: They entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them.

Just a strategy I've been musing. Ukraine should send a couple dozen small teams into Russia to plant demolition charges in tall structures and level one or two every si often. Let's get the Russian people reacting to their leader's folly.

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan appeared to take umbrage at Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s majority opinion in a copyright case involving Andy Warhol and Prince, telling readers in her dissent that she would trust their “good judgment” rather than counter her colleague’s “fistfuls of comeback footnotes.” The shot at Kagan’s fellow liberal came in a lengthy second footnote of her dissent, which several Supreme Court observers found “interesting” and “noteworthy.” . . . Kagan wrote, “ . . . the majority opinion is trained on this dissent in a way majority opinions seldom are. Maybe that makes the majority opinion self-refuting?”

Former Clinton White House Communications Director George Stephanopoulos, now host of “This Week” on ABC, commented on the results of a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll Sunday. The short version: “This poll is just brutal for President Biden.” Stephanopoulos was introducing ABC News Political Director Rick Klein, who went into the specifics. “The skepticism over his leadership extends deep inside his own party,” Klein said of President Joe Biden. As evidence, Klein said that only 36 percent of the Democrats surveyed by the poll said that the incumbent should run for a second term. More than half preferred “someone else,”

Senate Republicans found themselves shaken and disoriented Thursday after finding out their leader Sen. McConnell, who in January became the longest serving party leader in Senate history, has led the Senate GOP conference since 2005 and has helped guide his colleagues through some of the biggest moments in recent history — the 2008 financial collapse, the near default of the U.S. government in 2011, the fiscal cliff of 2012, the two impeachment trials of …

On a clear, sunny day in April 2014, two F/A-18s took off for an air combat training mission off the coast of Virginia. The jets, part of my Navy fighter squadron, climbed to an altitude of 12,000 and steered towards Warning Area W-72, ... Just at the moment the two jets crossed the threshold, one of the pilots saw a dark gray cube inside of a clear sphere — motionless against the wind, fixed directly at the entry point. The jets, only 100 feet apart, zipped past the object on either side. The pilots had come so dangerously close

New York — The New York City suburbs nearly cost Gov. Kathy Hochul her job. Now, far from treading with caution, she’s pushing a proposal that may be radioactive in the bedroom communities that dot the region: A plan to mandate more housing in those suburban counties, some of the nation’s largest and wealthiest. Hochul wants to give the state bold new authority to override local zoning laws in cases where municipalities resist the measure, which she hopes will help address a housing shortage that’s made New York one of the least affordable places in the country.

Florida recently passed a law that leftist opponents and their collaborators in the media have branded the “Don’t Say Gay” law. Actually, however, the law does not say “don’t say gay.” [snip] Note the classrooms to which this prohibition applies – only kindergarten through third grade. And note the persons to whom it applies – only instructors, not students. And note the subject to which it applies – only sexual identity and sexual orientation, not any other sex issue. But using authority figures like teachers to indoctrinate kindergarteners into the wonders of transsexuality is something the left wants. Predictably, they’re PO’d about this
