Former President Donald Trump blasted Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) ahead of his presidential campaign launch on Wednesday, asserting he would be doomed to fail in the general election after voting to overhaul entitlement programs when he was a congressman.
Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate, took to Truth Social to hit DeSantis’s support of legislation that took aim at Social Security and Medicare during his time in Congress : Ron DeSanctus can’t win the General Election (or get the Nomination) because he VOTED TO OBLITERATE SOCIAL SECURITY, EVEN WANTING TO RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE TO 70 (or more!),

Actually, I'd vote for raising the age for SS to 70 in a heartbeat.

Trump needs to read Reagan's 11th Commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."
Instead of bashing Republicans, he needs to direct his comments to Biteme and the DemocRATS.

Trump is acting like a scared rabbit.
If DeSantis' congressional record was so gawdawful, then why did Trump endorse him for the governorship in 2018?
And I believe The Donald is distorting what went on at that time. As I understand it DeSantis was reluctant to run for governor and it took several sessions with Trump to convince him to run. That "tears in his eyes" story sounds like Trumpian hyperbole to me.
Trump will find himself in trouble if he continues to act as though he is entitled to the nomination and that the 2016 steamroller is going to work again this time around.

I'm grateful for most of what Trump did while in office (not his covid response) but I've moved on and I believe I'm not the only former Trump supporter who now supports Ron and/or Vivek.

I would vote for either one; I like both. But sadly republicans will be taking sides to trash the other, even posting this hear demonstrates someone backing a particular horse in the primaries, and we'll be getting shills for the DNC posting articles like this to spread the discord.

Trump is sounding and acting more like a democrat every day. People should realize he was a dem until the last 10 yrs or so. I’ll vote for whoever is the republican nominee, but I’m afraid if Trump gets it he will spend all his time with retribution and not the welfare of the county.

Interesting that Trump is attacking DeSantis from the left. Along with siding with the Democrats on letting Social Security and Medicare implode, which will screw the younger generations, Trump is also joining the GOPe (Pence, Sununu, Haley, Christie,etc.) in condemning DeSantis for reigning in the excesses of Disney. Trump is losing his touch. His panic over DeSantis pushes me ever closer to not voting for Trump in the primary. As of this moment DeSantis is the most conservative candidate who can win the presidency. Needless to say if Trump ekes out a victory in the primary I will vote for him in the general.

I know many posters love the fighter in Trump, but a lot of us feel he could tell about DeSantis’s voting record without the name calling. The people who want to overhaul Social Security and Medicare are correct. Something needs to be done before it goes broke sooner. I also wonder why trump endorsed DeSantis, if he was so bad regarding running for Governor.

#2, Reagan isn’t alive today to see what the democrat party has become along with many Republicans. I bet he would reconsider that 11th Commandment if he was facing the hell that Trump has endured. How about someone ask Ron D why he broke his promise to the State of Florida to serve his full term? How about he explain exactly who in the donor class is supporting him. Also, I’d like to hear his reasoning for actually running at this time? Does he actually believe he can match Trump’s accomplishments? Or is he running as a spoiler. Does he assume that democrats will prevent Trump from running with some nefarious scheme and he will be there to ride in on his white steed to rescue us all? As you can see, I am fed up with these also rans who put themselves above the good of the country. The hubris and/or greed that drives them is a real indication that they don’t understand how fragile the Republic is right now. In fact, I am not sure it is even functioning right now. The justice department is corrupt. The FBI is weaponized against half the country. The military has gone woke and puts our security at high. Risk. The border is wide open and we are dolling out phones, housing, food, education, and walking around money to people who broke our laws. Look at the crime in our big blue cities. They are like war zones. The conversation in the country regarding race is toxic and blames whites for everything bad that has happened in the country in the last 200+ years. The culture is rotten as it can be. The depraved are bullying anyone who holds different views about gender or child grooming. Americans are being pushed around by men in drag and child sexual abusers. Let Reagan come back and look at his beloved country and see if he is as magnanimous today. Until republicans understand this is a whole other ball of political wax we are dealing with today, we will continue to lose ground to the lawless depraved democrats. If you are not prepared to take the field of battle with swords figuratively drawn, just step aside and let the warriors do what has to be done.
Trump is focused on saving this country and to do that he must get through the primary process and he is not messing around. He is deadly serious about defeating this horrific regime, but he has to take out his primary opponents first. If Ron DeSantis believes he can take the high road and win, he is a fool. He may get every big shot donor and political family who believe they run the Republican Party, but he has failed to understand the loyalty of Trump’s base. We trust him which is something that cannot be said of any other candidate. Even Saint Ron is an unknown since he hitched his star to the Rino cabal. He has already lied twice. He said if Trump was running, he would not. Remember that? And he lied to the people of Florida regarding his intention to serve his full term as Governor. Those are big statements to do a 180 on.
#3. Scared rabbit? Now that dawg won’t hunt.
Secondly, Ron DeSantis went to Trump BEGGING for his endorsement because a drug addlepated nekkid man who was caught in a hotel room in flagrant delicto was actually eating his lunch and he was losing. He would have lost without Trump’s endorsement.
How can you fault Trump for showing some emotion after all this lawless cabal has thrown at him?

trump's endorsement did indeed catapult DeSants to the gubernatorial nomination in 2018. And Ron's hair's breath victory spared us Floridians the nightmare of an Andrew Gillum governorship. But that does not mean that Trump has some overriding right to control Governor Ron's policies or actions.
As to all this business about donors and the Bushies and so forth, can you show me anywhere
in his policies or governance where DeSantis has capitulated to the demands of some mysterious cabal of Bushies, RINO'S, or whoever?
Obviously you believe that Trump can win in 2024. Maybe you think his victory is inevitable if only we all fall in line. But some among us recognize that that the sands have shifted and that the dynamics of 2016 and 2020 are no longer relevant.
Will I vote for Trump if he wins the nomination? Absolutely. But I won't stay up very late waiting on the returns.
The country is degenerating. New blood which is not tied to frozen past perceptions may be needed.

How anyone not walking in President Trump’s shoes dare to tell him what to do or how to do it. This man has suffered not only personal assaults, but assaults on his family as well. Fair-weather friends and/or political hacks may be trying to drive a wedge between MAGA supporters and fence-sitters. For many individuals, nothing like the extreme, fierce vindictiveness arrayed against President Trump going on almost eight years has ever been seen before. Without question, President Trump IS the MAN IN THE ARENA! Prayers for President Trump and his family. May our Lord be with President Trump and his family and keep them safe.
