Five questions for DeSantis as he readies

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appears, finally, to be ready to enter the presidential race. DeSantis, who has long been seen as the most serious rival to former President Trump for the GOP nomination, has been running a quasi-campaign for months, backed up by a big-spending super PAC.But now multiple media reports suggest the Florida governor will enter the race next week. He is expected to file paperwork making a bid official around Wednesday or Thursday — the days when he has scheduled a gathering of campaign donors in Miami. Here are the major questions facing DeSantis as he moves toward that declaration.

The Hill - when the topic is Trump - is never worth the time spent. Their hate for Trump drowns all their articles on the topic.

I like both DeSantis and Trump. The liberal media will be playing up the rivalry, pitting both against each other because they hate both, and Republicans should step back and not spread their maligning garbage.

This article was quite evenhanded, I thought. I doubt it adds anything new, but fairly good summary of public thought on the subject. I really do wish deSantis would not enter- it is impossible for me to see how that helps anybody, unless he is entering to win a VP slot, which seems like it wouldn't be his goal. In four years, he's a shoo in- assuming he can outmaneuver the deep state (bushes etc); now it's a blood bath because Trump wants it and has earned it. "Trump drama"? how much of it is manufactured by the media and how much is Trump's personality- can the fight against the deep state and their treason be conducted drama free? How would desantis handle his campaign being spied on? Being sued for a "not rape" that occurred 30+ years ago? Having his home raided by the FBI? Or do we just want to start the cycle all over again fresh, and hope for the best? When the enemy is everywhere, occupying many, many positions of power, and utterly depraved, it's not going to be pretty.

I certainly hope DeSantis is too smart to commit political suicide by doing this!!! He can't beat Trump in the primaries. There are just too many of us that support Trump and are super motivated to vote for him in the primaries. But by running against Trump, DeSantis will be seen as a backstabber and will not get the support of the Trump base in 2028. On the other hand, if DeSantis swallows his pride, doesn't run in 2024, and is Trump's biggest cheerleader in 2024, he will then go in to 2028 as the odds-on frontrunner, with the massive support of the Trump base (including their action and financial support), as well as the support of Trump himself!!! Right now, he has a great gig as governor of a solidly Republican state -- where he can continue to be governor and build up his impressive conservative credentials. It's a win/win for him and this country to wait until 2028 to run for president!!!

The fear of DeSantis, by both Trump and Democrats, is palpable. I suspect most Americans don't yet know who he is, for unlike those of us who hang out on political websites, most Americans lead real lives. Unlike Trump, DeSantis has a first-rate media team and won't be giving gratuitous interviews to the NYTimes' Maggie Haberman, or Bob "Worse than Watergate" Woodward, or apologizing for sending out pictures of himself with an axe looking askance at DA Bragg. It will be interesting to watch his campaign develop.

Bald-face lying about DeSantis is never a good look. I'd certainly not be inclined to support DeSantis in 2028, if he runs scared of Trump and his ardent fans in '24. It is also counterintuitive, that a Trump die-hard will "reward" DeSantis in '28 for abandoning the playing field in '24 for a false promise of future support.

I have another question; Governor, you promised the voters of Florida to serve four years as Governor. They believed you, voting you back into office. How can you go back on that promise? Another question; After lying to the voters of Florida, do you expect the voters of the U. S. to believe and support you in a Presidential election?

I would only have one question for the Governor - why? Trump is not just any candidate for the Presidency. He is a former President who was vastly successful and was manifestly cheated out of a second term. He deserves another term and, more important, we the people deserve to have him. If the entire Republican establishment got behind him, as they should, it should be an easy win. But they won't, some because they are ego driven and many because they are part of the Uniparty swamp, hate Trump and despise the American people.

The left hates DeSantis just as much as it hates Trump. Unless the RNC does something to stop unrestricted mail-in voting and private money helping get out the vote in Democratic strongholds, it doesn't matter who the Republican nominee is. The time for legislation and court battles is now. After the election, it will be too late.

Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a "state of emergency" on Monday in an attempt to stop a school choice bill from passing the state legislature. Cooper released a video announcement where he declared a state of emergency, arguing that the state of public education is "no less important" than other emergencies. "It’s time to declare a State of Emergency for public education in North Carolina. There’s no Executive Order like with a hurricane or the pandemic, but it’s no less important," Cooper stated.

Tim Scott’s announcement here Monday that he’s running for president came mere days before Ron DeSantis is expected to declare his own, far more ballyhooed campaign, joining Donald Trump in what has looked for months like a two-person race for the Republican nomination. Scott, polling in low single digits, is starting far behind. But in what’s likely to become an even wider field of longshot candidates, the South Carolina senator is plotting a path that many Republican donors and strategists consider credible if Trump or DeSantis falters. His campaign is powered by a sizable war chest and a record of electoral success in his home state that suggests

The Biden administration announced Monday that seven western states had reached an agreement to conserve critical Colorado River system water supplies amid severe drought conditions. The agreement — reached by the so-called Lower Basin states of Arizona, California and Nevada — ensures that at least 3 million acre-feet (maf), or 978 billion gallons, of Colorado River water supplies are conserved by 2027, according to the Department of the Interior (DOI) which has worked with states to address shortages. Under the plan, at least half of that amount will be conserved by 2025.

The infamous car chase Meghan Markle and Prince Harry experienced this past week keeps changing details and adding more to the story. Given the severity of the accusations from the royal couple, multiple photo agencies have decided to respond with press releases. But a report from Page Six suggests the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were the ones who wanted to approach photographers. They wanted everybody to get their pictures in order to do their job. But things escalated right after these pictures were taken. Paparazzi did chase Prince Harry and Meghan Markle through the streets of New York, that's what paparazzi do for a good shot. CORRECTION*

Roughly 25 years ago, many of us were shocked by the discovery of a home full of bodies of dozens of people laying in bunk beds, wearing jumpsuits and identical black-and-white Nike Decade sneakers. They were the members of the Heaven’s Gate cult who, with their leader, drank a lethal mix of phenobarbital and vodka to gain entry to “Heaven’s Gate” with the passing Hale-Bopp comet. Few of us could understand how rational people could believe their leader that it was necessary to shed their earthly bodies to gain access to an orbiting alien space craft. Few would buy such a pitch, but these people did.

Iraq has just banned US-dollar transactions, the Saudis and Emiratis plan to sell oil without it and there are plans to establish a whole new currency to bypass it. To know why, first have a look at the war in Ukraine. Anyone in Iraq who wanted to buy a car or a house this week got a nasty shock. Last Sunday, the Iraqi government announced a ban on doing personal or business deals in US dollars. Ordinary Iraqis usually make big-ticket purchases using dollars. Because of the ongoing devaluation of their own dinar, they'd need several large rubbish bags filled with paper dinar notes to buy a car or house.

As an attorney and retired NYPD Inspector, I’ve been told some stories in my day. This one lands someplace between "Beowulf"and Monty Python. So let us now uncover these mysteries, hidden deep in the tale. As we’ve all heard by now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (wasn’t he recently banished from the realm or something?) are claiming that on Tuesday night, after leaving an event in Manhattan’s midtown, they were pursued by paparazzi in a "near catastrophic" car chase that went on for two hours.

Democrats are squawking because their bluff has been called on illegal immigration. Lori Lightfoot, ousted mayor of Chicago, and Eric Adams, mayor of New York City, wrote recently to Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) to complain about his busing of aliens to their doorsteps from the Mexican border. “We simply have not more shelters, spaces, or resources,” bleated Lightfoot, adding that it was an attempt to “cause chaos and score political points.” That is true and is well done for being so. Democrats, with their virtue signaling on illegal immigration, led by President Joe Biden making a dog’s breakfast of border security, are causing chaos and trying to score political points

There are powerful parallels in the 1961 movie "The Hustler," the 1913 U.S. Open, and the current debt ceiling negotiation. Let me explain. In each case, there is a real question of which competitor is going to succumb to the pressure and break. In "The Hustler," Paul Newman plays Eddie Felton, a young pool shark who takes on the greatest pool player of his time, Minnesota Fats (played brilliantly by Jackie Gleason). A great deal of money is involved, with the champion being backed by several big money guys. They are equally good pool players, but Gleason’s character is confident, and Newman’s character is insecure.

Speaking with Maria Bartiromo on her Fox Business Network program, McFarland laid out the grim reality that, strangely, does not bother any of the people who rage about “protecting democracy” from Donald Trump. A report today in Politico states the next Senate Leader, the heir to the McConnell legacy, John Thune, will be endorsing South Carolina Tim Scott for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. This approach makes sense, because the modern Senate is a rogue division within the modern branches of government. The modern Senate has unique corrupt interests that are specific to the upper chamber, and those interests must be defended from any possibility of diminished influence. The current U.S. senate does not consider themselves to be a co-equal branch, especially since they created the weaponized intelligence apparatus to give them greater power. A recent CNN headline — "We don't have enough doctors" — is quite accurate. The explanation given for the M.D. shortage is completely wrong. CNN notes the "health-care workforce shortage is 'more acute' in Black and brown communities." The black community represents 13 percent of the U.S. population, but only 5.7 percent of American physicians are black. The implication is clear: only black doctors should or can treat black patients or, at a minimum, will treat them properly. This is racist dogma. The vast majority of American doctors (and nurses) are blind to skin color, religion, ethnicity, and even criminal behavior.
