Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appears, finally, to be ready to enter the presidential race.
DeSantis, who has long been seen as the most serious rival to former President Trump for the GOP nomination, has been running a quasi-campaign for months, backed up by a big-spending super PAC.But now multiple media reports suggest the Florida governor will enter the race next week.
He is expected to file paperwork making a bid official around Wednesday or Thursday — the days when he has scheduled a gathering of campaign donors in Miami.
Here are the major questions facing DeSantis as he moves toward that declaration.

The Hill - when the topic is Trump - is never worth the time spent.
Their hate for Trump drowns all their articles on the topic.

I like both DeSantis and Trump. The liberal media will be playing up the rivalry, pitting both against each other because they hate both, and Republicans should step back and not spread their maligning garbage.

This article was quite evenhanded, I thought. I doubt it adds anything new, but fairly good summary of public thought on the subject.
I really do wish deSantis would not enter- it is impossible for me to see how that helps anybody, unless he is entering to win a VP slot, which seems like it wouldn't be his goal. In four years, he's a shoo in- assuming he can outmaneuver the deep state (bushes etc); now it's a blood bath because Trump wants it and has earned it.
"Trump drama"? how much of it is manufactured by the media and how much is Trump's personality- can the fight against the deep state and their treason be conducted drama free? How would desantis handle his campaign being spied on? Being sued for a "not rape" that occurred 30+ years ago? Having his home raided by the FBI? Or do we just want to start the cycle all over again fresh, and hope for the best?
When the enemy is everywhere, occupying many, many positions of power, and utterly depraved, it's not going to be pretty.

If he is shrewd, he won't file.
If he is dumb he will listen to his flatterers and take the bait.

Either you are with us or against us. Fox News, Paul Ryan, Karl Rove and the Bush loyalists support this guy.

I certainly hope DeSantis is too smart to commit political suicide by doing this!!!
He can't beat Trump in the primaries. There are just too many of us that support Trump and are super motivated to vote for him in the primaries. But by running against Trump, DeSantis will be seen as a backstabber and will not get the support of the Trump base in 2028.
On the other hand, if DeSantis swallows his pride, doesn't run in 2024, and is Trump's biggest cheerleader in 2024, he will then go in to 2028 as the odds-on frontrunner, with the massive support of the Trump base (including their action and financial support), as well as the support of Trump himself!!!
Right now, he has a great gig as governor of a solidly Republican state -- where he can continue to be governor and build up his impressive conservative credentials. It's a win/win for him and this country to wait until 2028 to run for president!!!

The fear of DeSantis, by both Trump and Democrats, is palpable. I suspect most Americans don't yet know who he is, for unlike those of us who hang out on political websites, most Americans lead real lives. Unlike Trump, DeSantis has a first-rate media team and won't be giving gratuitous interviews to the NYTimes' Maggie Haberman, or Bob "Worse than Watergate" Woodward, or apologizing for sending out pictures of himself with an axe looking askance at DA Bragg. It will be interesting to watch his campaign develop.

Bald-face lying about DeSantis is never a good look. I'd certainly not be inclined to support DeSantis in 2028, if he runs scared of Trump and his ardent fans in '24. It is also counterintuitive, that a Trump die-hard will "reward" DeSantis in '28 for abandoning the playing field in '24 for a false promise of future support.

I have another question; Governor, you promised the voters of Florida to serve four years as Governor. They believed you, voting you back into office. How can you go back on that promise?
Another question; After lying to the voters of Florida, do you expect the voters of the U. S. to believe and support you in a Presidential election?

I would only have one question for the Governor - why?
Trump is not just any candidate for the Presidency. He is a former President who was vastly successful and was manifestly cheated out of a second term. He deserves another term and, more important, we the people deserve to have him. If the entire Republican establishment got behind him, as they should, it should be an easy win. But they won't, some because they are ego driven and many because they are part of the Uniparty swamp, hate Trump and despise the American people.

I have THE key question which doesn’t appear anywhere. How will he handle Wall Street globalists and Bushies financing him, when they start demanding their pound of flesh.

The Bushes support DeSantis. Do you need to know anything else?

The left hates DeSantis just as much as it hates Trump. Unless the RNC does something to stop unrestricted mail-in voting and private money helping get out the vote in Democratic strongholds, it doesn't matter who the Republican nominee is. The time for legislation and court battles is now. After the election, it will be too late.
