Tim Scott’s announcement here Monday that he’s running for president came mere days before Ron DeSantis is expected to declare his own, far more ballyhooed campaign, joining Donald Trump in what has looked for months like a two-person race for the Republican nomination. Scott, polling in low single digits, is starting far behind. But in what’s likely to become an even wider field of longshot candidates, the South Carolina senator is plotting a path that many Republican donors and strategists consider credible if Trump or DeSantis falters. His campaign is powered by a sizable war chest and a record of electoral success in his home state that suggests

Don't be too quick to count him out. He is personally appealing, has a good story to tell, doesn't make anyone feel threatened. I think there is a strong contingent among the GOP rank & file that wants to leave Trump and all of the attendant drama behind. It's not fair, but it's out there. Today's polls mean nothing and surprises do happen in politics. We will see.

Frankly I don't give a........... I will not back anyone that is bought and paid for. DT proved what he can do for America, even with one hand tied behind his back. I would rather have turmoil in DC with a great economy, strong world leader, then to gamble on anyone else. The Left and the RINOs do not want DT. That is good enough for me. I want DT and only DT.

Tim Scott is young but a good man and will only get better with experience. The only negative I see is the stink left by Barack Obama which may sour some people on voting for a black man. Tim Scott is no Barack Obama and we are all thankful for that.

Part of me likes Tim Scott and think that he might make for a decent VP candidate for Trump. However, another part of me thinks Tim Scott might be an inside the beltway plant. Scott has appeared dozens of times on Fox shows over the last couple of years and since Fox has been firing every conservative commentator that they have had on their network, I'm wondering if Tim Scott is as conservative as he's portrayed by the current Fox commentators.

The third article on Scott, etc., by Politico’s Allison to be posted here. Does she xerox her pieces, change wordin around, and add a few bits? A self-plagiarizer? Her theme is that he’ll win with “evangelicals, Iowa and tons of cash… This appears to be a new bit as she rolls along: Ahead of Scott’s announcement, two Republican colleagues, South Dakota Sens. John Thune and Mike Rounds, have already endorsed his bid, with Rounds calling Scott “the closest to Ronald Reagan that you’re going to see.” Thune, the No. 2 Senate Republican, gave the opening prayer Monday at Scott’s campaign launch rally. Glen McCall, the Republican National Committeeman from South Carolina, led the pledge ahead of Scott’s speech. Among those in the crowd of supporters was former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, who is serving as Scott’s national campaign co-chair and Larry Ellison, the billionaire founder of Oracle whom Scott from the stage called a “mentor.” Rounds’s gush was over the top, … Scott ain’t and never will be another Ronald Reagan. Not even close.

President Trump did not lie to us. Some could not take his being what his daughter described as “blunt”. The dictionary says this means “uncompromisingly straightforward”. Sounds good to me. Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Daniel Werfel denied intervening to retaliate against whistleblowers in connection with the Hunter Biden complaint, according to a letter he sent to the majority and minority on the House Ways and Means Committee. Fox News obtained the letter sent by Werfel on May 17 in which he responded to concerns that whistleblowers may have faced retaliation for voicing concerns about the probe into the business dealings of Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden. "I want to state unequivocally that I have not intervened – and will not intervene – in any way that would impact the status of any whistleblower," Werfel said.

On a recent episode of his cable television program, Bill Maher asked Bernie Sanders to explain the difference between equality and equity, and the long-winded senator was at an unusual loss for words. “I don’t know what the answer to that is,” Sanders mumbled after an awkward pause. Pressed to clarify his position, Sanders composed himself and offered only that he supports “equality of opportunity” over equal outcomes. He does? If this answer is sincere, it would put Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, substantially to the right of the “equity”-obsessed Biden administration and today’s public education establishment. If, on the other hand, Sanders was merely being politically adroit, his answer demonstrates

Politics is theater now, as Donald Trump showed during his recent CNN “town hall” interview, for which CNN is still taking heat. All the proper people are horrified, now. But they weren’t horrified when John F. Kennedy beat Nixon—though there was a wide, if not general, consensus that that election was stolen, in Chicago (which is why Senator Bob Dole wondered, in a letter read at his funeral, if he’d still be able to vote in Chicago). JFK was better at the theatrics that year: he was better-looking than Nixon; no five o’clock shadow; and he didn’t sweat under the klieg lights. But Kennedy was a fraud

The Biden administration announced Monday that seven western states had reached an agreement to conserve critical Colorado River system water supplies amid severe drought conditions. The agreement — reached by the so-called Lower Basin states of Arizona, California and Nevada — ensures that at least 3 million acre-feet (maf), or 978 billion gallons, of Colorado River water supplies are conserved by 2027, according to the Department of the Interior (DOI) which has worked with states to address shortages. Under the plan, at least half of that amount will be conserved by 2025.

A silence kept in order to hide the truth is a lie. By that maxim, there are plenty of liars among prominent Democrats who knew that the damning Trump-Russia collusion narrative was all a hoax. But they chose to remain mum, preferring instead to watch contentedly as an American president was vilified nonstop by a media-driven orgy of lies. It consumed the nation for years and inflicted untold harm. None of them had the decency to volunteer the truth. This is one of the key findings in the 306-page Durham report that the special counsel filled to the brim with documented acts of deviousness, dishonesty and malice by high officials

Roughly 25 years ago, many of us were shocked by the discovery of a home full of bodies of dozens of people laying in bunk beds, wearing jumpsuits and identical black-and-white Nike Decade sneakers. They were the members of the Heaven’s Gate cult who, with their leader, drank a lethal mix of phenobarbital and vodka to gain entry to “Heaven’s Gate” with the passing Hale-Bopp comet. Few of us could understand how rational people could believe their leader that it was necessary to shed their earthly bodies to gain access to an orbiting alien space craft. Iraq has just banned US-dollar transactions, the Saudis and Emiratis plan to sell oil without it and there are plans to establish a whole new currency to bypass it. To know why, first have a look at the war in Ukraine. Anyone in Iraq who wanted to buy a car or a house this week got a nasty shock. Last Sunday, the Iraqi government announced a ban on doing personal or business deals in US dollars. Ordinary Iraqis usually make big-ticket purchases using dollars. Because of the ongoing devaluation of their own dinar, they'd need several large rubbish bags filled with paper dinar notes to buy a car or house.
