NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino is in talks to become Twitter’s chief executive, the Wall Street Journal reported, after owner Elon Musk’s announcement that he had found a new leader for the social network and would shift into a new role as chief technologist. In a tweet Thursday, Musk said the company’s new CEO will start in about six weeks, without naming the individual. Yaccarino, who is chair of global advertising and partnerships at NBCUniversal Media, didn’t respond to an email seeking comment, and a representative for NBCUniversal said she was in rehearsals for the company’s Upfront presentations to advertisers.

“I can say that she would be my first choice, and my only choice, to save the platform from the hands of its owner,” Lou Paskalis, who advises marketers as chief strategy officer at Ad Fontes Media, said on Twitter. “I still cannot understand why she’d subject herself to @elonmusk, however!” well.. if THIS guy likes her, i HATE her..

Let's hope she is not NBC as usual. Musk needs advertising on Twitter to make it profitable, many advertisers being "coerced" to pull back advertising when Musk took over. This is probably a business move, bringing in NBCUniversal's chair of global advertising, perhaps appeasing the Left?

Twitter is back in left wing hands. This doesn't look like a safe place for conservatives to invest their time.

I seems Musk is abandoning any pretense of conservatism. No one would or could work for NBC and have any affection for traditional American values or ant allegiance to America.

I just can't make myself trust Elon. On the surface, this looks like a con on US, but who knows? I don't do Twitter, but it matters to a lot of people. And to free speech, I guess. People can go other places. Or not.

If you're surprised he'd pick her because you count yourself among those who believe Musk is the 21st century John Galt, you probably got jabbed (and ridiculed those who thought for themselves) and thought Zelensky was a hero (and ridiculed those who thought for themselves). You have to be your own John Galt. Trust yourself. And baby Jesus. No one else is coming to save you with a podcast or tweet.

Climate change not 'serious risk' to financial

WASHINGTON - Climate change does not pose such "significantly unique or material" financial stability risks that the Federal Reserve should treat it separately in its supervision of the financial system, Fed Governor Christopher Waller said on Thursday in a detailed rebuttal of demands for climate initiatives by the U.S. central bank. "Climate change is real, but I do not believe it poses a serious risk to the safety and soundness of large banks or the financial stability of the United States," Waller told an economic conference in Spain. "Risks are risks ... My job is to make sure that the financial system is resilient to a range of risks
Portland Mayor Calls for Tax Increase

Portland mayor Ted Wheeler is pushing for a one-year freeze on nearly all planned or proposed increases in taxes, fees, and utility rates after receiving complaints from residents of the far-left Oregon city, which has one of the highest income tax rates in the country. Some business leaders have suggested that the high taxes may be driving people out of the city. “The bottom line for me is that Portlanders are overburdened,” Wheeler, a Democrat, told the Oregonian newspaper. He acknowledged that the freeze would require significant changes to his proposed $7.1 billion budget, including cuts and reductions to municipal services.

Why did CNN host a town hall with former President Trump? For the ratings, baby. The network has been in the ratings doldrums for so long that it decided Trump was the person to put them in the win column. He did. The town hall got a Tucker Carlson level rating with 3.3 million viewers. CNN was the most-watched cable news network of the evening and that hasn’t happened in years. Axios reports that on an editorial call with CNN employees Thursday morning, CEO Chris Licht defended the event. “It is our job to get those answers and hold him accountable,’ he said while acknowledging that covering Trump is “messy

Donald Trump’s “town hall” appearance on CNN last night has liberals gnashing their teeth. They don’t understand why CNN would give Trump a forum, they are appalled that the audience was in Trump’s corner, and they are frustrated that Trump dominated the event, with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins unable to keep Trump under control, let alone embarrass him. Inevitably, CNN’s host ignored the pressing issues of the day and went straight to what the Left really cares about, the 2020 election and Trump’s refusal to accept that Biden’s victory was legitimate (just as Hillary Clinton refused to accept that Trump’s 2016 victory was legitimate). This was Collins’s first question (from CNN’s transcript):

It must have seemed to Democrats like a good idea at the time to encourage the idea that their most solid political base, African Americans, deserve payment from taxpayers for the harm that slavery did to their ancestors. Particularly when Donald Trump began making inroads in 2016, taking Hillary Clinton’s support among black males down to 82%, well below the 90s that Barack Obama enjoyed. Because bribing voting blocs with taxpayers’ money is such a familiar tool for politicians, this tactic didn’t raise alarm at first. In California, which likes to see itself as a trend-maker for the rest of the nation, the Democrat-dominated Legislature passed and Governor

Now that we’re in the midst of a full fledged border crisis once again, immigration is finally a top story at some of the top newspapers. It’s at the top of the front page of the Washington Post and the NY Times. The Post story points out that we’re setting new records this week, averaging twice as many border crossings per day as we were in 2019 during what was then considered President Trump’s border crisis. The Border Patrol has averaged 8,750 migrant encounters per day over the past week, the memo noted, more than twice as high as the peak of the 2019 crisis when record numbers

Washington — A federal judge in Virginia invalidated a set of federal restrictions that prohibit people under the age of 21 years old from purchasing a handgun from federally licensed firearm dealers, finding the rules violate the Second Amendment. In a 65-page decision issued Wednesday, U.S. Senior District Judge Robert Payne ruled in favor of four men who are over the age of 18 but not yet 21 and want to purchase handguns. One of the men, John "Corey" Fraser, attempted to buy a Glock 19x handgun from a federal firearm licensed dealer in May 2022, but was denied the purchase because of his age.

With Title 42 set to expire Thursday, the White House announced on Wednesday a new set of sweeping rules to curb the anticipated influx of illegal migrants. The Biden administration will now begin denying entry to all migrants who do not first seek asylum in a transit country or apply for protection in America using an online form before arriving at the border. Moreover, Venezuelan, Haitian, Cuban, and Nicaraguan nationals caught illegally crossing the Southern border will be deported back to Mexico. Complimenting these new initiatives, the White House has disclosed plans to open at least 100 regional processing centers while granting 30,000 humanitarian exceptions to the new asylum rules per month.

On Wednesday night, CNN invited President Trump to hold a town hall in front of New Hampshire voters. Despite her best efforts and weeks of preparation and role-playing, “nasty” CNN host Kaitlan Collins was dragged through the mud by President Trump. CNN had to cut the network’s town hall with President Trump by 20 minutes after Trump, backed by a wildly supportive audience (hand-picked by CNN), took control of the forum from anchor Kaitlan Collins right from the start and never let up. Puck’s Dylan Byers reported on CNN cutting the town hall short, “Note: The CNN Town Hall was a 90-minute broadcast,

Recently, while apologizing to "indigenous peoples" and denouncing Christians — without the all-important historical context — Pope Francis declared, "Never again can the Christian community allow itself to be infected by the idea that one culture is superior to others[.]" This — claiming all cultures are equal — is a dangerous position, not least as it leads to relativism and the abnegation of Truth. For most Western people today, the word culture conjures at best superficial differences — "exotic" dress or food. In reality, however, cultures are nothing less than entire and distinct worldviews with their own unique sets of right and wrongs, often rooted in a

I know Romanian corruption. When I was exiting the country in 1987 after investigating its collapsing economy, I made sure to bribe every guard who searched my luggage at the Bucharest airport with a pack of Kent cigarettes. But I neglected to give a pack to the soldier on the tarmac as I walked to my Lufthansa flight. He was soon screaming and waving his submachine gun in my direction. Whoops. After the fall of the Communist regime, the US State Department launched a program to help Romania curtail corruption. Vice President Joe Biden masterminded that effort from 2009 to 2016.
