Collapsing at Home, DeSantis Travels to

This should be embarrassing, even for a seriously self-centered politician so filled with hubris and visions of grandeur that he cannot see anything except his own magnanimity. Alas, for the Narcissus Top Gov and the branding organization behind him, no scale of hubris exclaimed is excessive enough. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was in Israel Thursday, doing the obligatory indulgency tour all Republican presidential candidates must undertake before they officially announce. During his pre-planned events, DeSantis took credit for moving the U.S-Israel embassy to Jerusalem. […] DeSantis presented the Trump administration’s decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem as his own achievement, saying he worked to “cajole” the former president

Not sure how much a “fairy tale” it is. The Congressional delegation did, indeed, petition Trump and point out how he (and Obama before him) were not in compliance with the law.

Another former Republican governor, Scott Walker, wrote this in 2019. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/jun/13/why-moving-the-us-embassy-to-jerusalem-was-smart/ In Novembrrr 3018, the TIME, of all people, wrote: epublican Ron DeSantis won Florida governor’s election in part by turning the race into a referendum on Donald Trump. After a primary ad in which he built a wall and read “The Art of the Deal” with his kids, DeSantis was helped by the president’s involvement in the race, even as his Democratic opponent Andrew Gillum took hard lines against Trump’s actions at the national level. Without Trump’s support, DeSantis would not have marde iet through the primary, let alone prevailing over Gillum. So . . . someone promises in an interview (or presidential campaign) that he will accomplish something that none of his predecessors had been able to accomplish. He's hired (or elected). He follows through. Then one of the middle managers (or congress critters) he inherited (who'd already been with the company for several years) claims - after the fact - that he had to cajole the new boss into doing the very thing the boss had promised to do in his interview. That makes sense. Whether DeSantis actually did that is a whole 'nother thing that's left unproven by this particular article.

Just last November DeSantis campaigned to win re-election as Florida's governor. After overseeing the immediate effects of the hurricane disaster, his attention has been on the presidency - unless its on the Disney Corporation. I don't think that is why the citizens of Florida cast their vote for the Top Gov. They cast their votes with the knowledge their state had a law that prevented second term governors from running for president, and that their excellent leader would give them four more years of his focused attention. Ron DeSantis lied to them. Their state legislature betrayed them. As a Californian I feel their pain. The bottom line is, Ron DeSantis cannot be trusted.

#14 - I never criticized Ron DeSantis' job performance as governor. He has an excellent record; one on which he handily won re-election from a grateful constituency. Citizens that rightfully expected the current laws of their state to stand, and that Governor DeSantis would serve his full second term concentrating on the issues of importance to the people of Florida. He has not done so, and it is readily apparent he had no intention to do so. In my book that makes him a liar and a person not to be trusted.

#18 - Ron DeSantis being a governor is not the point. The other governors who became presidents were elected out of states where running was not against the law in their state. Floridians had put into a place a law that specifically forbade their second term governors from running for president for the express reason that it takes focus away from the governance of the state. DeSantis ran on those assumptions. He made no mention that he intended to have the legislature change the state's law for his personal benefit. I find that disingenuous and underhanded. Obviously, you don't have a problem with it. If, God forbid, President Trump is denied his rightful place on the ticket and his rightful place in the White House once again; and DeSantis is the anointed one of the GOP wing of the Uniparty, I'll be boycotting this selection. I'm in California. My votes hasn't counted since...ever. MAGA - Always in my heart.

All this does is harden the resolve of Trump supporters. Maybe this is a far fetched idea, but are democrats and their never Trump republicans trying to take both DeSantis and Trump out? They believe they have Trump taken care of with corrupt prosecutions and will chip away at DeSantis to prevent him from gaining any traction with Trump’s based should they be successful in sidelining Trump. I know I am biased but you would think that DeSantis would be smarter than this but he is playing right into their hands. Clearly, he has no idea what these people are capable of. Democrats and Never Trump Republicans are the very essence of evil. One group outwardly will do anything to retain their control of the country and the other will sneak around assisting them while they pretend to be their opposition. If we had a united party democrats would lose. We don’t because Rinos love the status quo and are ultimately only in it for themselves. Never underestimate their ability to betray the good people of this nation.

I know your advisor Jeb collapsed about three days out of the gate, but you haven't even gotten to the gate and you are going down in flames. Secondly, I find myself in agreement reluctantly with the appraisal of Sundance. Ron is exposing himself as being so desperate to be accepted by the swamp he is willing to do or be anything for approval. Kind of amusing that all the folks who hate the Bush name and dynasty don't mind them being involved with DeSantis.

Victor Davis Hanson often has a unique big picture perspective on current events, linking and contrasting the disconnected high-brow outlook to the pragmatic perspectives of the modern populist movement. Hanson takes an academic approach to the reality of current social constructs, yet in his own unique way he can describe the current status in a thoughtful and practical way. In this analysis VDH contrasts the goals of the ideological media, specifically the goals of those in the Republican wing of the media control apparatus, to the reality they have created by removing the voice of Tucker Carlson. Russian oil is still powering Europe — just with the help of India. Back in December, the European Union barred almost any seaborne crude oil imports from Russia. It extended the prohibition to refined fuels two months later. However, the rules didn’t prevent countries like India from snapping up cheap Russian crude, turning it into fuels like diesel, and shipping it back to Europe at a markup. The Asian country is on track to become Europe’s largest supplier of refined fuels this month while simultaneously buying record amounts of Russian crude, according to data compiled by Bloomberg from analytics firm Kpler.
