Finally, there is some more good news in the battle for free speech. The Global Disinformation Index has taken yet another hit after being exposed for its campaign to limit the reach of conservative and libertarian views online. Oracle, the multinational software company, has announced that it is ending its relationship with the Global Disinformation Index (GDI), a group that has been secretly blacklisting conservative media outlets. The decision comes after a review by Oracle, which stated that its services must be in full support of free speech. “After conducting a review, we agree with others in the advertising industry that the services we provide marketers must be in full support

Good for Oracle but the advertising industry will never tell you the truth about anything. Sometimes it's in the fine print that flashes across the bottom but it's not possible to read it.

"“After conducting a review, we agree with others in the advertising industry that the services we provide marketers must be in full support of free speech, which is why we are ending our relationship with GDI,” Michael Egbert, vice president for corporate communications at Oracle, announced in a statement given to the Washington Examiner." Mr. Egbert cites the actions of other companies to supposedly confirm the wisdom Oracle's decision. Typical PR-think. More perceptive readers (and customers) may well note that it confirms Oracle as an admitted follower, not a principled thought leader.

I knew Mr Ellison from long ago, when he 1st got started in competitive Sailing, I crewed on several of his boats, have crossed paths many times since while I was covering America's Cup sailing for various magazines/webzines. I teased him once because though he was on the cover of Fortune Magazine that month he stooped to pick up a nickle while we walked into the Yacht Club...he responded "One day if I decided a nickle wasn't worth picking up, it wouldn't be long until it was a hundred dollar bill...and soon after I wouldn't even get out of bed for less than a $Million$. No one should be too rich or too proud to pick up even a penny. A person needs to accept everything offered and keep it growing if they want to succeed". Perhaps his biggest customer/client is the US Govt, that uses Oracle for their "Cloud". His stance on this particular issue is important in that it also effects THAT, at least one hopes it does.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has directed the National Guard and California Highway Patrol to help combat San Francisco's fentanyl trafficking crisis. On Friday, Newsom announced an effort to have both agencies assist local authorities to address the rise in fentanyl use. The agreement will focus on "dismantling fentanyl trafficking and disrupting the supply of the deadly drug in the city by holding the operators of large-scale drug trafficking operations accountable," the Democratic governor's office said. "Two truths can co-exist at the same time: San Francisco’s violent crime rate is below comparably sized cities like Jacksonville [Florida] and Fort Worth [Texas] — and there is also more we must do

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) said New York City is being “destroyed” by President Joe Biden’s migrant crisis during a panel discussion in Washington, DC, hosted by the African American Mayors Association. “The city is being destroyed by the migrant crisis,” Adams bluntly stated. Adams was joined on the panel by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D), Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner (D), and outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D). Adams seemingly took a shot at other New York City officials, accusing them of not fighting hard enough to get federal resources to the city. “And none of my folks came to Washington, DC, to fight for the resources

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) got a warm reception at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th-anniversary summit just outside Washington, D.C., on Friday, softening a difficult weak that featured a wave of Florida lawmakers endorsing former President Trump for 2024. Facing a friendly conservative audience of around 1,070 that greeted him with a standing ovation, DeSantis, who has not yet declared for 2024 but is widely expected to, tested whether he could flaunt signing a six-week abortion ban. DeSantis did not mention the abortion ban bill in a Liberty University speech the day after he signed the bill last week. The measure drew criticism and prompted

This is kind of fun. Maybe Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy is crazy like a fox, no? If he can’t wear you out, he’ll wait you out. A couple of days ago I posted about how McCarthy had gotten the framework for a debt ceiling bill banged out with his fractious bunch of coconuts. In a speech given at the New York Stock Exchange, the Speaker put forth the meat of the GOP proposals, said they would have a bill to vote on “in weeks,” and, again, asked the president to please meet in good faith negotiations. The answer was the classic Democrat MAGA MAGA MAGA boilerplate

President Biden signed an executive order on Friday directing all federal agencies to make it their “mission” to work toward “environmental justice for all.” The order, which comes one day before Earth Day, also creates a White House Office of Environmental Justice. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency defines environmental justice as “the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.” The order aims to “better protect overburdened communities from pollution and environmental harms.” It claims that “racism is a fundamental driver of environmental injustice,”

A massive explosion rocked the Russian border city of Belgorod yesterday. It’s an area that has faced repeated bombings that the Russians have blamed on Ukrainian UAV activity. But what happened on Thursday was far more than a UAV bombing. This was something bigger. According to reports, there was “a blast that made nearby apartment buildings tremble and threw a car on a store roof.” The bombing left a 66-foot-wide crater in the middle of the street. Everyone wondered what in the hell Ukraine hit them with. Well… it wasn’t Ukraine. The Russian military has instead admitted that one of their own bombers accidentally dropped the bomb
