NEW YORK— Former President Donald Trump answered questions for nearly seven hours Thursday during his second deposition in a legal battle with New York’s attorney general over his company’s business practices, reversing an earlier decision to invoke his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination and remain silent.
The Republican met all day with lawyers for Attorney General Letitia James, who sued Trump last year. Her lawsuit claims Trump and his family misled banks and business associates by giving them false information about his net worth and the value of assets such as hotels and golf courses.

I still don't understand the part about Trump valuing his real estate assets and the banks. Since the S&L collaspe bank regulators require an independent fee appraisal by the lending institution to make a loan involving real estate. In Trump's league that usually means an MAI appraiser with national clients and national reputation.

They got General Flynn for perjury. I expect they would like to pin something like that on Trump. In 7 hours of questioning it would be easy to misremember something.

Odd that the banks did not sue?

The banks willingly lent him the money.
They got paid back, with interest.
All sides are happy.
When you own an iconic property it is almost impossible to put a dollar value on it with accuracy.
So what.
No one was hurt.
Just the dems feelies.

When did Trump receive the authority to value real estate...once upon a time long long ago.. pre Trump... the county or city assessor had this authority. Do they think Trump accountants don't check the previous assessment values, previous sales & credit ratings.....this is nuts! What do the banks think about this? They gave the loans & he paid the loans.

I've only got one question regarding this: Exactly WHO is the victim in this ''crime?''

Remember: it’s not about appraisals or real estate value. Big picture.
Look from the Webb telescope — not from the street camera.
Today, appraisals. Tomorrow, ???
But they’ll think of something. Rest assured the dungeon trolls have 5-6+ more “scandals” in the works.

Who did Trump defraud? Who was harmed? Did Trump meet the terms of the loans and pay them back? Did the banks complain? Did the banks follow their own rules and NY law when making the loans? Is James investigating every NY developer who most likely valued properties the same way as Trump did?

AG: "Go over that one more time."
Trump: "You have asked me that question a hundred times."
AG: "If you do not answer the question, we will arrest you for obstruction of justice."
Trump: "I don't remember."
AG: "That is not what you said the first one hundred times. You are under arrest for perjury."

I’d be willing to bet that six hours of that seven-hour deposition consisted of plaintiff counsel asking Trump a question, followed by Trump’s lawyers saying “I object”, “asked and answered”, and “don’t answer that, Mr. President.”

Big ole know-nothing Letitia should know she’s being laughed at. Banks and lending institutions use their own appraisers to evaluate peoperties involved in potential loans. One would think she’d know that, but she’s another mindless “Get Trumper”.

Re #5. county assessors assess for tax purposes, not market value. Their numbers are not used by lenders.

If you own a business your bank will ask for assessment of your assets vs debt every yr or so.. If you are applying for a loan you have to do the same thing. You make your best guess based on the 'Sales Value' of your properties. It is up to the bank to verify this info. James and her minions have to be really stupid if they are basing their lawsuit on the county property assessment, that is for tax purposes. If you have owned a property for decades and never pulled a remodel permit the county assessment could be $400,000 whereas the sales value could be $1.4mil.
If I were Trump's atty's I would put someone on the stand that could list properties sold in the area near Trump's buildings. Read the county assessment of those properties and then the actual sales price of those same buildings. End of case.

When I bought my home, an independent appraisal was done on the property. That triggered a lot of things. It made sure that the lender was not loaning more money that the value established, and it made sure that I was not getting “Bidened” in the purchase. A bank would be remiss if the did not appraise and check the buyer out. I’m sure they got out the proctoscope for Trump.
