I lived and worked in SF on n off for many years until very recently. It _used_ to be that there were good areas and bad areas and if you simply stayed on a good street you were pretty ok as long as you didn't walk the extra short block to the bad street right next to it. That hasn't been true for years. There is no longer good or bad areas. Just bad. It is all bad. I hadn't be to the city for about 18 months and then went to the downtown with a friend last summer. It was shocking how truly insane what used to be a reasonable area had become. It was worse there than it used to be in the bad areas. Burn it all and shovel the ashes into the sea. There's no other hope.

Here's hoping he is caught quickly and then quickly released. I mean, just because, you know. And here's hoping he is released in the area where he can do the most damage to the most liberal progressive insane people possible. Then picked up and released again. Rinse, repeat. It's only fair. And their gov wants to make America into the image of CA. INSANITY reigns.

As #1 said, "nothing good happens at 2:35 in the morning." I live in a nice neighborhood in a different state, and I'd hesitate to go outside that time of the morning. My DH sometimes takes a telescope out late at night to look at the stars, but he's packing while he's outside. He's usually back inside no later than midnight.

The BBC reported in 2016: "Carrying a knife in public without good reason is already illegal across the UK." So #6's no doubt ironic comment is already true in some places heretofore considered civilized, where things are outlawed and criminals run free doing exactly as they please with whatever weapons they can obtain. San Francisco used to be one of America's true showcase cities. Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958) was a classic film that showed off the city and the gorgeous surrounding areas. Not too may years ago it was a place all Americans should see at least once. But liberal politics tend to morph into radical politics, and the people in charge of that city were and are insane. They welcomed the ruin long before it set in like gangrene. Now sensible people just cross the worst blue cities off their list of places to visit and enter those cities into their "do not visit" ledger. Bob Lee was an amazingly creative individual who should have had the second half of his life still to live. Instead, one of the innumerable derelicts squatting in the city decided to kill Lee because Lee was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Why was he there at that time? Didn't he know that nothing good happens on the street between midnight and dawn?

Tis a pity the perp didn't try it with Bob Lee Swagger. I have been to many Chit'ole places, in the USA and abroad, key safety practices are, dress down, no outward display of wealth, no jewelry, not even a watch, leave your phone in your pocket, be AWARE, and defensive at all times...get back to wherever you are staying BEFORE the clubs close. If you are not part of a Group, stay close to one that is heading your direction as if you are. Manage your intake, IF you drink, drink very little. Catch a cab if you wobble even a little...PREY wobbles, Predators are always looking for Prey. If you cannot, do not know how, to FIGHT! Never...EVER... get in a situation that may require one.(When you DO know, it shows, predators steer clear for the most part) Lets face it though, closing down a bar on a Tues means you were out LOOKING for something "Strange" to begin with.

Jake Shields, a former mixed martial arts fighter, told the outlet that he used to live in the area Lee was attacked in but ended up moving away because he didn't feel safe there anymore. "[Lee] did comment on San Francisco deteriorating, which is why he actually had just relocated to Miami," Shields told the outlet. 'That wasn't the only reason but was a reason," Shields told Insider. "I can't remember

Oil prices soared nearly 6% on Monday after Saudi Arabia and other major oil producers said they will cut production by 1.15 million barrels per day from May until the end of the year. The cuts in oil output by the so-called OPEC+ countries immediately pushed crude costs higher and were expected to boost gas prices in the U.S. and other countries. Higher oil prices also will complicate the efforts by central banks to rein in inflation. "This will create both political waves across Europe and even higher general inflation in the USA, leading to renewed pressure on the Federal

Washington - The Supreme Court on Thursday denied West Virginia's request to let it fully enforce a state law that bans transgender women and girls from participating on public school sports teams consistent with their gender identity. In an unsigned order, the court denied West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's emergency request to let the state enforce the 2021 law. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented, saying they would have granted the request. Earlier this year, a lower federal court ordered the state to temporarily stop halt the ban against Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 12-year-old transgender girl who sued the state over the law shortly after its passage.
