California’s Governor Gavin Newsom finds himself in such an awkward position that he is refusing comment on a gathering storm that will not go away, and which has the possibility of turning his presidential ambitions to ashes. Newsom is known to many as “Governor Brylcreem” for the large amount of greasy pomade he favors for his coiffure. He will need all the lubricant he can come up with to slip through the trap he has constructed for himself. (snip) Either he takes on the entire reparations movement, which is the darling of the left wing of the Democrats (snip) or else he presides over an unprecedented financial disaster.

Go ahead and give each $360,000, but tax it at 22% bonus level plus the Windfall tax of 21% then the reimbursement for welfare, affirmative action, etc. They Each would owe back $1.5 million. Enjoy yo reparations.

At best, legislation will be introduced, and die in committee. More likely, the report of the task force will land with a resounding thud and be ignored forever more, a victim of its authors' greed.

Whether it’s $260K, $360K, $5 million, $7.6 million or whatever, it will never be enough, there is no money to pay it, and there are significant constitutional questions. But these fools keep talking about reparations and raising expectations. It will not be pretty when reality eventually intervenes. This has the potential to set off huge “mostly peaceful protests”, and as we’ve seen before, they tend to spread nationwide. This could make 2020 look like a Summer picnic in comparison. Everyone should consider where they live, what sort of police and national guard response they can expect, and either move or make other arrangements to defend themselves, their families and their homes.

As usual, the Dims promise a lot to the blacks- imagine thinking you and each of your children would get a $360,000 check- plus uncle fester if you move him in with you, and you start thinking about it and what you would do with the money. And then the dims say "nah." Will it dawn on people that life throws a lot of stuff on you no matter what your color?

So what about the descendant of the people who receive the reparations? They also will be descendants of slaves, so will the government continue to pay the reparations generationally, ad infinitum? Or will having a slave ancestor and a reparations recipient ancestor in a particular family line cancel each other out? (If you find another slave ancestor, will that qualify you for another pot of money? Which raises the question, why not more money for more slave ancestors? And how far back? I have two from colonial times; does that count? And as one pot of money or two?) In the "cancelling each other out" scenario, will there be some sort of restrictions on investing the reparations or something like a family trust or an annuity, so that the benefit will passed on to future generations? And finally, will there recrictions, or at least guidelines, to ensure that thee money is first spent on actions that will counteract all these injustices they have suffered from having a slave ancestor, such as acquiring housing in a non-high-crime neighborhood, setting up education funds for oneself and one's children, and subscribing to high-quality health insurance BEFORE one can make impulse buys. (Looking at the spending habits of lottery winners should be instructive.) Oh yeah, there is one more point. What governmental agency will oversee this program? How about Social Security Administration? THAT seems to be working out well. (This is called sarcasm.)

This writer points out several times that reparations for blacks are beloved by the far left. He fails to mention that reparations are also beloved, according to surveys, by California blacks, far left or not. Any scheme to transfer huge bucks from 95% of the population to 5% will not go over well, even in California. The Democrats are playing with fire.

Sadly, this is not going to go away. Blacks have become accustomed to accommodations like welfare and no-punishment crime. The stage has been set for increasingly violent demands and Blacks will see any move away from reparations as proof of systemic racism and broken promises. Newsom and the Dims have backed themselves into a corner but I am not sure Republicans can capture lost Black constituents. Our only hope may be for Blacks to become so disenchanted that they stop voting at all. At least then they won't be a reliable Dim voting block.

Weirdo Newsom is not too bright and they want him to run for president? This is what you get when liberals open their mouth and sprew rhetoric that they do not believe but say it just to get votes. Basically the are lying. Liberals are the same people who want their cities to be sanctuary cities but in name only. They talk the talk but do not walk the walk. Look how many liberal mayors and governors complain when just a handful of illegal aliens are dropped off in their city limits and they have to pay for their living existence yet they welcome open borders and the wear the sanctuary city designation proudly. Just plain bizarre! Now dumba%$ Gavin has painted himself into a corner by having to possible pay for slavery reparations from funds from a nearly bankrupt state. If that does not stop him from being presidential material nothing will. He proves everyday he is not fit to even be governor. What a silly proposal. Next he will want federal tax dollars to pay for his silliness. If this occurs is a civil war looming? Northerners who had relatives fighting in the Civil War against slavery and for maintaining the union of states should be exempt from their tax dollars being used in this idiotic fashion if it every comes to this.

Another proposal is to set up a Slavery Lottery that would only be open to qualified descendants of slaves in California. The prize could be a billion or so tax free. They would pay a $1 for a ticket with a 1 ticket limit per household. With odds of 1.8 million to 1 it would be a lot fairer than the Powerball scam they run.

So-called reparations for slavery in California are not going to happen until Black folks amount to over 50% of the California population, control the California legislature, and elect a Black Governor in California. As the current majority population of California is made up of other ethnic and minority groups, that are made up of people who never owned slaves, and are not about to pay California Black folks who were never slaves large amounts of their money, in a State that never had slavery in it’s history.
