The Untold Story of Racial Classification
in America

Original Article

Americans have been living with the idiosyncrasies of arbitrary racial classifications for almost five decades. These are now deeply entrenched and serve to drive political agendas while understandably fomenting divisiveness and resentment. That is the subject of David E. Bernstein’s impeccably researched book Classified: The Untold Story of Racial Classification in America. In his review of the history of American racial classification, Bernstein, a professor of law at George Mason University, brings clarity to the contentious discrimination debate which began in earnest with the Statistical Directive 15 of the Office of Management and Budget of 1977, creating five inconsistent and haphazard racial categories: American Indian or Alaskan Native; Asian or

Comments:

On the one hand, I don't see any path to getting rid of these racial labels. On the other hand, if we don't begin treating people equally, our country will continue into its mire of "equity" -- the enforced quotas of various groups -- as the ignorant and incompetent are put into positions they cannot handle. See Pete Buttigieg and Kamala Harris, for instance, and think of them in important military or industrial positions. Oh wait, little Pete has already left a huge mess in Ohio. (Granted, his group is not racial, but he is only there because he is a proud gay man. We have to get rid of all categories except competence for hiring and forget about the "first" this and the "first" that.)

The problem revolves around a simple preposition as our country does not have a problem with race but a problem race.

The "survey" options keep changing. It seems they've removed Caucasian and replaced it with White. So people from India are now all White. Pretty soon there will just be boxes for Black and White and you can pick your team.

There are 'officially' only a handful of actual 'races'; most of the categories discussed in this article are not true 'races'. I agree wholeheartedly with the author....it's pointless to continue this charade...particularly as increasing intermarriage has just 'blurred the lines' even further! Enough of all this racial categorization!!! It seems to be everywhere and, with the exception of genetic tracing for medical purposes, we don't need it!!!!

While it may look like the United States is being tough and forceful in Ukraine, the reverse is true. The US is showing incredible weakness, and it is wearing it on its sleeve. Let's start with Ukraine. The US has gone all out to try and help Ukraine win a victory over the Russians. The Biden administration wants this to happen for two reasons: to show that Biden is not a wimp and won't cut and run like he did in Afghanistan and that he wants to "strengthen" NATO by eventually putting a NATO army in Ukraine.

Few would dispute Leonardo da Vinci’s preeminence as one of the top thinkers and artists of the Renaissance era. According to an Italian professor, da Vinci may have been only half-Italian. The professor contends that da Vinci’s mother may have been a slave from the Circassia region in what is now Russia. That fact is worth contemplating when we think about the left’s desperation to do away with Christianity, fossil fuel, and capitalism. (Snip) Whether this revised history is correct or not, it’s useful to remind all of us that slavery was not a uniquely American institution. It was ubiquitous in the pre-modern world. The brutalism of government during the last three years was anomalous in western democracies. First of all, it was irrational, it contravened common sense, which almost everyone possesses, and it destroyed millions of household economies and small businesses. It impoverished and starved a billion people in the developing world. It killed the old, brutally, refusing them affection in their last days. (Snip) But this niggled at me. Who drew up the plan, instituted it in every country, bullied every citizenry, devised the advertising, instituted the protocols? What operation has that level of power, of discipline? Only one answer: McKinsey. McKinsey innovated and executed the whole damned thing.

There are many ways for the CDC and FDA to regain the trust of Americans. This article lists 20 ways. I was not asked to speak at the conference, so I thought I’d prepare my list for people who attend. 20 ideas for how to restore trust 1. Stop lying to people 2. Stop ignoring people who disagree with you: Answer questions/engage in meaningful dialog from people who disagree with you 3. Support data transparency: Show us all the data that you’ve been hiding instead of making us spend millions in lawsuits to release it (v-safe data for example). Escape from New York may be a work of fiction no longer. In El Salvador, the government plans to crush crime by opening a new prison that is quite literally the size of a city. Two thousand suspected gang members have been moved to a new mega-prison in El Salvador, built as part of President Nayib Bukele’s self-proclaimed “war on crime.” … The mega-prison, officially called the Center for the Confinement of Terrorism (CECOT), was built to hold 40,000 prisoners. Bukele unveiled the center in January, saying it is “a fundamental piece to completely win the war against gangs.” The prisoners transferred to the CECOT are reportedly members

Mainstream media correspondents for major US networks rarely, if ever, report from inside Crimea and certainly are nowhere near Russian-held territory in eastern Ukraine. This is especially as the "the people there... view themselves as Russian." Simmons noted that "This is the closest that any US news crew has got to the Russian Black Sea Fleet

Ron DeSantis attacked 'Soros-funded' prosecutor Alvin Bragg for creating a 'manufactured circus' in his first comments on rumors Donald Trump will be indicted. The Florida governor made the comments Monday after Trump's inner circle criticized him for staying silent on claims the former president will be arrested in the Stormy Daniels hush money case on Tuesday. It offers a dilemma to Trump's likely rivals for the Republican 2024 nomination: Do they take the opportunity to bash the former president for his indiscretions, or do they steer clear for fear of alienating the vocal, restless party base?

Donald Trump has characterized his impending arrest this week as a political vendetta, and has urged his supporters to take to the streets in protest. Numerous other prosecutors including sophisticated federal prosecutors have reviewed this same evidence, and have declined to pursue this case. Rightly so. It’s a lousy case. The legal theory is a stretch. Moreover, the prosecution’s fact witnesses are not credible.

"More importantly is the message this sends to all Black women, men and children that you deserve to be comfortable wearing your natural hair at school and in the workplace without being perceived as unprofessional or suffering other negative consequences," she said.
