Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California was hospitalized in recent days with shingles and is now being treated in her hometown of San Francisco, her office announced Thursday.
Feinstein missed a key vote Wednesday when the Senate voted 50 to 46 to block a Biden administration rule allowing retirement fund managers to consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investment decisions. She has also missed a pair of Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.
'I was diagnosed over the February recess with a case of the shingles. I have been hospitalized and am receiving treatment in San Francisco and expect to make a full recovery.

DiFi is one of the dims that I don't totally despised. If Shingles if half as bad as the Shingles shot it must be agony. When Slick Willie admitted that he did improper relationship Monica, DiFi wanted to censure the pervert. The other dims just didn't care.

Since the Democrats stole the 2 seats in Georgia, their losing 2 seats would be justice.

timed it just right...yet another dem senator had been out with prostate cancer, just came back., and at the same time a repub is out with "Covid". It's now a 48/48 tie with Kamlalala again casting the tie breaking vote. Again making Manchin the Man of the Week, and Senema waiting to also make a little "News"

Both represent reliably Blue states with treasoncrat governors. Any vacancies would be filled with a democrat appointment and the voters would dutifully re-elect them. Its only a problem in the short term, while they are absent and either haven't assumed room temperature or haven't resigned.

They never had a majority - technically. It's 49 R, 48 D, and 3 Ind. Independent is not a party, they are neither Dem nor Rep. The Indies 'caucus' with the Dems, how that is 'legal' I don't know. The Dems even let an Indie run for president - Sanders - under their banner. Seems hinky to me. The Indies should have no standing in party matters.

Feinstein poses as a moderate. Her mode is to grandstand by speaking out occasionally against democrat policies. Then after a few days, she backpedals. Feinstein is an anti-second amendment radical and a reliable vote for the democrat party line. What’s more, she employed a Chinese spy as a driver for almost 20 years. I see nothing to like about Feinstein.

Hospitalized for shingles? Is it because of her age? I had a horrendous case of shingles about 15 years ago and all it took to clear it up was steroids, antibiotics and time.

I had shingles 8 months ago. I blame it on getting the
two shots as I had no other reason or stress. Still intense itching and I'm told that may last for years, even forever.

There need to be age limits OR mental acuity tests to qualify for continuing as a senator OR a representative. This great country, existing by the efforts of millions of patriots, deserves better than what it is receiving.

Shingles is nothing but a painful rash, more of an annoyance than a medical problem, but then the old girl is getting up there. She should have retired at least ten years ago. When she does retire, her Chinese spy will have to seek employment elsewhere.

I'm surprised at the responses so far, which seem to minimize shingles. Everyone I've known who has had it has been in extreme misery and one friend (50-ish woman) had to be hospitalized for a week. My mother refused to be treated for it because all doctors everywhere are trying to kill people all the time. When the pain became so unbearable that even she decided to go to the ER, her eyes were already affected. Shortly afterwards she lost her hearing.
I am no fan of DiFi but I don't wish illness on her. I am reluctant to get vaccinations but after watching friends and the mother go through it, I have gotten that vaccine. No side effects. Please don't minimize the potential damage shingles can do to you or your loved ones.

#20, You are correct in saying that a serious case can do some damage but in my experience, I only know one person who had it for more than a month and it affected the sciatic nerve causing extreme discomfort and difficulty in walking. However, "normal" shingles develops on the rib cage, causes pain and itching and lasts less than a month. When it arrives you never know which version you are going to get but the majority of people just soldier through it and usually don't even miss work. As for DiFi, why would she not use her Cadillac Healthcare provided by us taxpayers?

7, there is no such thing as a party in the constitution. They're a legal fabrication. They are private entities and not a legal constitutional part of the government.
Each party sets their own rules and standards as to who can run, how primaries work, everything. Nothing says a party even has to have a primary. They can roll dice, do a coin toss, best darts player, anything they want to determine their own candidates for the real election.
Once in office there is no constitutional thing known as a "caucus". That's just a group of individuals who have decided to declare their political union. Nothing more.

I've had shingles. It is very painful so I don't wish it on anyone. At DiFi's age, I suspect it is because her immune system is compromised which could indicate a more serious problem.

#32, I doubt that what you had was shingles. Did you have chicken pox as a kid? If not, you won’t get shingles. Also, shingles (at least in my case) produced blisters which were so painful that I didn’t even want air to touch them much less clothing. I had a band of them which started in the center of my chest and spread around to the center of my back and which was about 7 inches high. I got to the doctor quickly and, as I said in my post above, got steroids and antibiotics, and it took about a week for the blisters to go away, but my skin was splotchy for about 6 months.

So it is now a 49-49 tie --- instead of a 50/50. Camel-la-la has to vote again.
However, should another Demorat fall ill, in the spirit of fairness & cooperation, Mitch McConnell has agreed to kill a Republican Senator at random so UpChuck Schumer will stay in charge.

Where is the Fetterman Zombie? I sure hope that he hasn't died or anything terrible like that or gotten hit by a truck or been shot and robbed in a vicious mugging. The country needs a great intellectual and statesman like him. He's so articulate and such a great spokesman. He's so well spoken and articulate.
I'm sure that he would be a great POTUS. And his lovely and loyal wife would be a great benefit to the country also. He sure kicked a$$ in those debates didn't he. I know that I was impressed. And not to mention his movie star good looks. WOW,.....just WOW!
