Biden Unveils Effort To Crack Down On
Firearm Industry, Enhance Background Checks

President Joe Biden issued an executive order Tuesday aimed at keeping firearms out of “dangerous hands” by expanding background checks on gun sales and increasing the use of so-called red flag laws. Biden is set to announce steps to curb gun violence on Tuesday afternoon in Monterey Park, California, where he is expected to meet with the families impacted by the mass shooting that claimed 11 lives and injured nine others at a Lunar New Year celebration in January.

Puffery from the demented fool. This order has no substance, and there no chance of passing any gun control in this session.

I've read up on this from more than one source today, and I still don't have a clue as to what he plans to do to expand background checks, so I'm guessing his plan is fairly anemic. This is what they do when they can't address the really pressing issues this nation is facing.

Want to stop 90% of gun violence? Put anyone who has a gun in their possession and is arrested for a crime in jail with no bond until their trial. If found guilty serve 5 years for the gun charge and then serve any time for the violent crime. Problem solved.

Sadly, #7, since a disproportionate number of violent crimes using weapons are committed by blacks each year, that legislation would never pass any legislative body out of fear of being accused of being "racist".

It’s a particularly deadly time to be on Russian President Putin’s bad side — 39 bodies, piled up since war broke out in Ukraine, collectively underscore the point. Just this month, two former bigshots bit the dust. Sergey Grishin, a financial fraudster and oligarch who sold Harry and Meghan their Montecito, California, mansion for $14.7 million, perished from sepsis on March 6. Coincidence or not, this happened after he criticized Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Virologist Andrey Botikov — who helped develop the controversial Sputnik V Covid vaccine — went in a less subtle manner on March 1: He fell victim to a belt around his neck.

ATALAIA DO NORTE, Brazil—Brazilian federal agents aboard three helicopters descended on an illegal mining site on Tuesday in the Amazon rainforest. They were met with gunfire, and the shooters escaped, leaving behind an increasingly familiar find for authorities: Starlink internet units. Starlink, a division of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, has almost 4,000 low-orbit satellites across the skies, connecting people in remote corners of the Amazon and providing a crucial advantage to Ukrainian forces on the battlefield. The lightweight, high-speed internet system has also proved a new and valuable tool for Brazil’s illegal miners, with reliable service for coordinating logistics, receiving advance warning

Now that Democrats are in the minority in the House and unable to abuse their power as easily as they have done the last two years, they are resorting to shameless lies to sabotage oversight hearings and trash whistleblowers and other inconvenient witnesses. They have anointed as queen of this disinformation operation, a little-known Democrat named Stacey Plaskett, who is not even a full-fledged member of Congress. Plaskett’s favorite adjective is “so-called,” which is ironic since she is a so-called member of Congress. She does not have voting rights as the “at-large” delegate for the US Virgin Islands.

OXON HILL, Md.—Trips to Mar-a-Lago. Glowing speeches. Front-row seats at major events. The first Republican presidential primaries are nearly a year away and the candidate field is unsettled. But already, a shadow contest of another sort is underway with several Republicans openly jockeying to position themselves as potential running mates to Donald Trump, the early front-runner for the nomination. “A lot of people are right now auditioning,” Trump boasted to supporters in Florida last month. The mere mention of a running mate this early in the process is a departure from the traditional timeline of presidential primaries, where candidates typically spend the opening months of a campaign introducing themselves to voters

You may have noticed by now that folks on the left defending the effort to trans children in K-12 schools are still arguing that it is not happening. They claim conservatives and libertarians worried about such a thing are simply being bigoted reactionaries, using children to demonize members of the LGBTQ community.Despite numerous reports detailing how educators and members of school staff have promoted transgender ideology among children and have even helped many of these students “transition” to the opposite sex, progressives claim this is nothing more than a myth. But now, parental rights advocacy group Parents Defending Education (PDE) has exposed even more of this malfeasance occurring

If you are at all curious about how the war on campus free speech has evolved since student arsonists torched the University of California at Berkeley in 2017, look no further than the angry mob of infantile Stanford law students who shut down a talk by Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Kyle Duncan last week. Intolerant campus leftists have been shouting down speakers for years now, but what transpired at Stanford law school last week was special: The students’ effort to squash intellectual diversity was condoned and even enforced by a prominent university administrator.

Amid the litany of weather reports and coverage of a U.S. drone being downed in the Black Sea after colliding with a Russian jet and recent woke banks going under, Wednesday’s CBS Mornings made it interesting when they spent a few minutes fawning over San Francisco moving closer to offering $5 million, guaranteed incomes of $97,000, and homes for the price of $1 to Black residents as reparations. This was despite the fact that, as they admitted, a Hoover Institution estimate found it could cost San Franciscans of other races (and presumably those in poverty) $600,000 in new taxes. Talk about a case of mass racial arson.

The complaint, from lawyers for former President Donald Trump, asks the FEC to record the infamous “Dirty 51” letter as an “in-kind contribution” to Biden’s campaign because it allegedly was used to influence the outcome of the election.

San Francisco residents lined up at a city board meeting last night to share their full-throated support of a wide-eyed reparations plan that would award every black resident $5million, wipe their personal debt, guarantee $97,000 incomes for 250 years and $1 homes. But no one at the emotional meeting - where residents burst into song and begged to be made 'whole' - asked how the struggling, debt-addled city might pay for it. Reparations are being considered in various Democratic cities around America as a means of providing compensation to the descendants of enslaved African-Americans.

After months of near-silence and innuendo, Florida Gov. and GOP presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis decided to speak about Ukraine, removing all doubt about his position. While his statement on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show makes a handful of valid points, it is ridden with a fundamental misunderstanding of the war and US geopolitical interests. First, the good. DeSantis is correct to criticize the Biden administration’s lack of clear objectives in its support for “as long as it takes,” which is a recipe for a long and intractable conflict — which Americans would be right to reject.

Some electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are scrapping the AM radio from their cars, claiming safety concerns. Although conservative talk radio dominates AM radio ratings, it is also considered a critical safety tool, as it is one of the primary ways that federal, state, and local officials communicate with the public during natural disasters and other emergencies. Automakers such as Ford and Tesla have ditched the AM radio from their newer EV models, arguing that the motors on EVs interfere with AM frequencies, creating buzzing and signal fading, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
