A Chicago police officer who was badly wounded during a shootout with a gunman Wednesday evening on the Southwest Side succumbed to his injuries, officials said. In the early 1980s I took some training for my job. One of my classmates was from Chicago. He told me that Chicago was the best big city in the country. I wonder what he would think of that sheethole now? How thing can change in a generation.

From CWB's blog: CWB Chicago has learned that the 18-year-old was arrested last summer after police said he and two other people ran from a car that had just been used in a shooting. The Cook County state’s attorney’s office rejected felony charges against him but approved charges against the other two people.

The legal team representing former President Donald Trump formally has requested a six-month delay in the civil case filed against him by New York Attorney General Letitia James. James brought a civil suit against Trump in September, alleging the Trump organization had fraudulently inflated the value of certain assets. The lawsuit alleges Trump and senior executives at the Trump Organization, along with children Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, "falsely inflated" Trump's net worth by billions of dollars in an effort to secure bank loans with more favorable terms.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office (WFO) affirmed that there may have been “undercover officers” and “confidential human sources” inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to whistleblower testimony obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The FBI’s Washington Field Office requested the Boston Field Office open investigations into 140 individuals who took buses from Massachusetts to D.C. on Jan. 6., but denied the office’s request to see video proving those individuals were inside the Capitol, FBI whistleblower George Hill said during a Feb. 10 interview with the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. The office claimed they needed to “protect” the identity of possible undercover agents,

Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury is not the (allegedly) dirtiest fight of 2023. That title belt goes to DirecTV vs. Newsmax TV. Some quick background: After failing to come to terms on a new carriage deal, DirecTV and Newsmax TV parted ways in late January. DirecTV, one of the first pay-TV services to carry Newsmax when it launched nearly a decade ago, brought in a new right-leaning cable-news channel, The First, in its place.Negotiations between DirecTV and Newsmax continued, the dispute has devolved into accusations about greed, playing politics, and even antisemitism. Like we said, it’s bad. But, incredibly, it is still resolvable.

General Michael Flynn is a retired United States Army lieutenant general who was the 24th U.S. National Security Advisor for the first 22 days of the Trump administration. General Flynn, a staunch Trump ally and confidante, was forced to resign in 2017 following screaming reports that he had lied regarding conversations with Sergey Kislyak, a Russian diplomat. This was while the Democrat Party and highest levels of US intelligence concocted an attempted coup to take down the sitting President based on what they knew was fraudulent accusations that Trump was Vladimir Putin’s stooge. General Michael Flynn was collateral damage. They had to remove him to get

The Delaware Supreme Court literally lowered the bar this week by changing the grade needed to become a certified lawyer in The First State as part of its attempt to increase racial diversity among lawyers and judges. Yet, those responsible for the change insist that it has not lowered standards. Of course, certain barriers are put in place to keep unqualified people from doing very important jobs. Nonetheless, Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Collins J. Seitz Jr. said via a news release, “the bar exam is not supposed to be a barrier to entering the profession but is supposed to be a test of an applicant’s ability to successfully practice law

As Donald J. Trump revs up his campaign for 2024, he continued to make news with big plans for his re-election. On Friday, he released a video titled, “Agenda47: A New Quantum Leap to Revolutionize the American Standard of Living.” Trump’s speech emphasized the need for America to regain its boldness and pursue big dreams like past generations did. “Today our country has lost its boldness. Under my leadership, we will get it back in a very big way,” he stated. Trump discussed several ways this can be achieved, such as building new cities and transforming transportation with vertical takeoff and landing vehicles. “Our objective will be a Quantum Leap

Talk about your Friday news dump. The White House has released a statement from Joe Biden’s doctor stating that the president had “cancerous tissue” removed. The procedure occurred on February 16th but was not revealed to the public at the time. A biopsy came back and confirmed the “skin lesion” was cancerous. (Tweet) As is typical with these statements from doctors vouching for politicians, the most positive spin is being put on the event. According to the president’s physician, no further treatment is required and Biden has healed “nicely.” I suspect that’ll be the official line from the White House going forward.

A poll from Quinnipiac University found that just 24% of Californians want him to run for president, whereas 70% do not. Even among California Democrats, Newsom is still in the negatives, with 54% wanting him to sit out in 2024 and only 35% wanting him to run. This is despite the fact that 57% of Californians and 37% of California Democrats do not want President Joe Biden to run, according to a poll from the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies.

A stunning report in Wednesday’s Washington Post details the tensions between FBI agents and Justice Department attorneys over the August raid of former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, Mar-a-Lago. FBI officials were leery of the plan, and pleaded for a more measured approach, while DOJ prosecutors were hell-bent on a surprise incursion to search for classified documents: Prosecutors argued that new evidence suggested Trump was knowingly concealing secret documents at his Palm Beach, Fla., home and urged the FBI to conduct a surprise raid at the property.
