Top Republican contenders head to Club
for Growth's donor retreat ... except Trump

The Club for Growth, a leading conservative campaign group, will host a donor retreat in Palm Beach, Florida this weekend. Most of the 2024 potential or declared Republican candidates are invited and will be there, all except for one noticeable exception – Donald Trump. Though the retreat will be held near Mar-a-Lago, Trump is not invited. He and the group had a falling out during the 2022 midterm cycle and apparently that has not been repaired. Trump has worked with the Club for Growth in the past. However, the two found themselves at odds during the 2022 midterm elections on candidate endorsements. And, Trump was angry about the group’s publishing

Whatever one thinks of Trump, CfG is not interested in getting government under control. It's just another establishment feedlot for promoting the next pliable puppet to be put on the strings.

It's a repeat of 2016. 2016 it was Jeb, this time they want Desantis. The people will decide, not the Big $$$ Donors. Trump never fit in because he doesn't need their endorsements or $$$...The Bush, McCain, Rove, Krystol, Will, Ryan, McDaniel, McConnell party is over. It's now the MAGA party regardless of whether they like it or not! Trump proved he could do the job without their support.

#1, Exactly. CFG is not concerned with “something for everyone” when it comes to candidates. Its only concern is keeping Trump marginalized. They do not want him anywhere near the Presidency because he actually promoted bringing manufacturing back to this country to benefit the American worker and holding financial institutions accountable. CFG wants no part of that. It would upend their little scheme of outsourcing and financial shenanigans which weakened this country, and certainly do not want Trump advocating for a better way They would rather send that work to the Third World countries and have free reign financially. We have seen the results of that with baby formula shortages which is still going on by the way. Our local pharmacy keeps it behind the counter with a notice stating you can buy only two containers at a time. Then there is the whole issue of China manufacturing much of our over the counter drugs and prescription drugs which I believe is a serious national security threat. Also, the blatant increase of credit card interest is doing great harm to families who are struggling to put food on the table. It seems that big banks have time for wokeness but little time to be concerned about the American family just trying to make it from week to week. Nevertheless, this boycotting of Trump is nothing more than a petty attempt to push him out of the race. They want to make him persona non grata. The candidates invited are CFG approved which convinces me more than ever that Trump is my guy. Now all of you who will say, he can’t win, he’s mean, he’s not worth the baggage he brings. I get it. However, there is one thing he brings that is huge, TRUST. The American people are not stupid or are they going to forget the massive positive things Trump accomplished that made their lives better. Everything he did was with the realization that it was his job to put America first at home and abroad. A majority of Americans know he has been shafted by democrats, the media and other republicans and whether the CFG likes it or not, that is going to be a factor. Not inviting him is a slap in the face to his base which is loyal and considerably larger than any of the other candidates put together. What CFG’s goal is getting rid of Trump and backing candidates who will not win because Trump’s base is not going to support them. What you have to understand is that CFG doesn’t care who wins because they will do just fine under a democrat President maybe even better. It’s just anyone but Trump. A vote for any of the CFG approved candidates is a throwaway. Trump’s base is not stupid. We get it. We are as unwanted as Trump but we are loyal and can see the strategy playing out by the anti-Trumpers. They are willing to dump the most successful and effective President in modern history because the status quo is more comfortable. Trump is not corrupt, can’t be bought and will protect the interests of this country. Do you think Ukraine would have happened under Trump or that we would be pouring billions upon billions into that country? Many Republicans just do not like the battle that is coming and will take the path of least resistance. Trump supporters would rather go down fighting for this country than accept the status quo hierarchy driven insanity that has consumed the political class and devastated this country. We want our country back and the old Republican donor driven way is just not going to cut it.

Maybe Club For Growth should do a self-evaluation. It would really help them if they treated every candidate equally which includes inviting Donald Trump. After all, what they are doing is exactly like the Democrat's biases.

To the GOP, "growth" means raising money. They are desperate and without Trump they are treading water in a sea of democrat sharks. I have a suggestion for Ronna to save some money, stop mailing me those big envelopes with "suggestions" for my donation amount. It currently stands at ZERO. If you don't fully support Donald Trump in 2024 and don't fix the nationwide election corruption, Joe is going to "finish what he started" as Doctor Jill says. After that it won't matter.

Club for Growth? What are they growing? Corruption? Stupidity? Anyone they invite, they think they can control regardless of what the candidate says. Club for Growth can be an oxymoron. They are alienating millions of voters. If you want business as usual, support one of their choices. Or a Democrat. Want real change that will help America? Support Trump! Watch the candidates that aren't invited. They are the good choices. Thanks for the clarification, CfG! Beware of unintended consequences.

A bill in California's state assembly takes aim at paper receipts and if passed, would ban businesses from handing customers receipts unless they specifically ask for it. In the reintroduced "Skip the Slip" bill, businesses would be charged up to $300 if they continue to pass out paper receipts. Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, introduced Assembly Bill 1347, and shared that his bill is an easy way to reduce paper waste in the state while addressing consumers’ frustrations with excessively long receipts. The nation’s second-largest pharmacy explained to Politico that it made this decision out of an abundance of caution amid a shifting policy landscape post Roe. However, Walgreens does intend to seek certification from the Food and Drug Administration to distribute abortion pills in certain states, but it declined to say which. The move follows two dozen Republican attorneys general writing to Walgreens in February warning it not to distribute what has become the most popular abortion method.

Amazon has paused construction on its second headquarters near Washington DC, as the internet retail giant slashes costs and makes its largest ever job cuts. The indefinite pause affects the second phase of construction on the massive complex, known as HQ2, that Amazon is constructing in Arlington, Virginia, the company said Friday. The first phase of the project, two office towers known as Metropolitan Park, is due for completion in June, and will be able to house some 14,000 workers. The delay impacts a larger development planned across the street, called PenPlace, consisting of three 22-story office towers and a 350-foot architectural showpiece known as the Helix.

Rep. Thomas Massie was so eager for Donald Trump’s endorsement in a contested primary three years ago that he ran TV ads targeted at the then-president in Florida to win his support. Today, Massie is all but shunning Trump and his comeback campaign. In fact, the Kentucky Republican attended a retreat last weekend for Florida Gov.
