The Department of Energy is proposing new energy conservation standards for new household gas and electric cooking devices, some of which have never been subject to federal efficiency standards.
DOE's proposed rule-making, published Wednesday, follows the recent political frenzy over the fate of gas stoves that was ignited after a federal regulator at the Consumer Product Safety Commission said his agency could ban them to reduce indoor air pollution.

What a surprise. Your gas stove just failed the efficiency test. Must convert over to clean natural cattle dung.

We the people need to establish efficiency rules for Congress. Follow the will of the people or the entire Congress should be able to be dissolved at any time and a special election held in every state and territory.

Government bureaucrats MUST have something to do, some power to exercise in order to make their lives seem to have meaning. If we the people don't need them to tell us what to do, then what purpose do they have?

I propose that the Energy Department be shutdown to save energy and that the savings be passed on to the taxpayers.

Will new gas ranges work as (in) efficiently as the new dishwashers?

Natural gas range tops are essentially 100% efficient.
Any electrical heating device is no more efficient than the prime energy source that created the electricity. So, a "perfectly efficient" electric heating device is actually between 30% efficient and MAYBE an upper limit of 40% from some of the most modern gas turbine topping units.
BUT, you can be certain that the rotten pukes at DoE will NOT go back to the primary energy source, coal or natural gas and calculate efficiency from that, as a sane and fair person would. They'll do some crooked "math" and come up with some BS ways, no doubt.

I don't know how my propane cook-stove can be any more efficient. It used less than 75 gal of propane a year and that included canning my own food over several days of running it non-stop. I would assume that a natural gas stove would be about the same.

What are they going to do? Limit the flame level on gas stoves to low so that it takes 3 hours to boil a pot of water? Only small burners on electric stoves that heat up to Medium? An your new Oven? Well, that will have to be limited to only so many cubic feet so that it will be too small to cook your Thanksgiving Turkey. These new appliances will be just a efficient and effective as the new low water use flush toilets that are mandatory in many homes.

You will own nothing and be happy. Get your appliances from the Government Store and be happy. Get your food from the Government store and be happy. Watch your programs from the Government Broadcasting Network and be happy. The Government owns you from pre-birth and if you're fortunate to survive birth, to post grave. You are the subjects of the Government and have no rights other than what the Government gives you. The aforementioned is what the current UniParty believes.

This and other things like it should be the rallying cry for the 2024 election cycle from the GOP.
Every agency has to answer to the Congress, which means they need Congress to authorize their budgets (except when on these never-ending continuing resolutions, CR, or Omnibus bills).
The climate goals from the Paris Accord have a target date of 2100, or 77 years from now, which means we have plenty of time to improve on things by then, but don't have to follow the Democrat plan of penalizing people.
If they had the science on their side they wouldn't have to use forceful tactics like extreme regulations.
The U.S. has more Natural gas available, which is clean burning, which means we should NOT have a shortage. Same with oil, which California mostly imports from foreign countries, even though we have abundant supplies in North America.
What they really are trying to do is reduce the pollution levels, and using these tactics.

3 hours to wash the dishes in our new 'energy efficient' machine. Next: 6 hours to cook a roast and 1 hour to boil water But climate change is worse than nuclear war. Right Joe?

If gas stoves have to go then so do hot water heaters. Get ready for permanent cold showers, no cars, no air conditioning, eating bugs and an IRS Agent at every door.

Yep toilets only 1/2 flush, now they want to make stoves only 1/2 cook...so it will take twice as long to make a meal...oh wait, we won't have to cook the bugs will we?? Pretty soon we will be cooking over campfires like our ancestors....maybe that Indian congresscritter could give us some lessons...

What are you worried about, the end game is you won't be able to afford any food to cook. Soylent will be the only thing available for the non-elites.
