The Biden administration on Tuesday argued that the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should have the authority to issue an immediate mask mandate on travelers. The Department of Justice had appealed a federal judge’s ruling in April that said the CDC did not have the legal authority to issue a mask mandate, according to Reuters. Noting that the crux of the issue was whether the CDC could impose the mandate without a public comment period, Justice Department attorney Brian Springer said action without waiting to hear from the public was essential “to prevent the possible infections and deaths that could result if people didn’t do the simple thing of

With regards to COVID, the masks don’t work as a preventative. They didn’t work during the 1919 Spanish Flu pandemic either. If anything they do more harm than good in the long term, both medical (rebreathing exhaled air with excess CO2, water vapor and bacterial growth trapped in the mask) and social disruption. The “greater good” is always the excuse. The result is loss of individual liberty and greater abuse and control by the state.

Giving the CDC authority to unilaterally imposed 'mandates' to 'protect' public health is like giving the FBI authority to spy on citizens to protect them from spying.

Here’s a chance for the Republican house to score big. Change the law on Public Emergency criteria to make it near impossible for any government agency to impose anything on the general public. Tie this up in a court case and investigation until 2025 and make it a Huge campaign issue.

The covid variants are basically the equivalent of a generic flu now so this is a scam. Are we going to do this to ourselves again? Democratic governors and mayors will happily comply. Republicans will tell them to go rot. Ultimately it will be up to the states and cities.

Imagine the following scenario: You are driving through Los Angeles when your car is inexplicably struck by another. You pull out of traffic and stop at the side of the road so you can exchange information with the other driver as the law prescribes. In speaking with the other driver, you can see he appears to be under the influence of some intoxicant, as he is agitated, speaking incoherently, and running around in the street. You are relieved to spot a passing police officer, whom you flag down and apprise of events. “There’s the man who hit me,” you say to the officer. “He’s running around in the street

News item: Stanford University withdraws its “Harmful Language” list after it received widespread publicity—and universal ridicule. But other universities are quietly imposing similar “language guidance” albeit without high-profile master lists that would expose them to the withering laughter and contempt they deserve. News item: The Biden Administration rushes to reassure Americans that there is “no plan” to ban natural gas stoves. This is a lie, of course. Lots of progressive cities—and even New York state—are moving to impose bans on all natural gas appliances. There is no doubt that the climatistas are determined to take away your gas stoves. Longtime journalist and Fox News co-host Geraldo Rivera received a wave of criticism on Twitter Tuesday after incorrectly identifying the AR-15 as an "automatic rifle." In an exchange on the opinion roundtable show, "The Five," Rivera discussed President Joe Biden's pledge to ban assault rifles with his fellow co-hosts. "I submit to you, ladies and gentlemen, there is no legitimate reason ... to have an AR-15," Rivera tells the table. Fox News host Greg Gutfeld pushed back on Rivera's opinion, however, and asked the former correspondent, "What does 'AR' stand for?" "It is an automatic rifle," Rivera answered, to which Gutfeld said, "That's not what it is."

A hearing on placing the 69-year-old Jeremy, whose legal name is Ronald Hyatt, in a state hospital will be held next month. Schwab has grown WEF’s $6,000 startup capital in 1971 into a $390 million a year business, turning a once sleepy organization into the think tank world’s FIFA. The National Archives issued three statements, one on August 12, one on September 8 and one on September 23, supposedly rebutting claims that there were any issues with Obama’s presidential records. The September 8 statement specifically denied that any records from the Obama administration were missing. Or, very specifically, NARA “is not aware of any missing boxes of Presidential records from the Obama administration.” Not aware is of course ‘lawyerese’ for plausible deniability. In November, the first tranche of classified documents was found at Penn Biden. NARA’s only statement on Nov 9 involved Trump’s documents. Ditto for another Dec 20 statement.

Two prominent governors who could be their parties’ nominees for president next year outlined competing visions for the country in largely ignored inaugural addresses this month. In their speeches, Florida’s Ron DeSantis and California’s Gavin Newsom both focused on freedom—Newsom invoked the term 17 times, DeSantis 12—and the perceived sins of their enemies. Each man also referenced the other, though not by name, hinting that each understands the potential for a DeSantis–Newsom showdown, whether in 2024 or later. Their contrasting styles and visions are worth examining. DeSantis’s liberal critics often accuse him of being a dictatorial Trump clone. But his concise, 1,649-word inaugural address was all-business, with no Trumpian bluster and

As California emerges from a two-week bout of deadly atmospheric rivers, a number of climate researchers say the recent storms appear to be typical of the intense, periodic rains the state has experienced throughout its history and not the result of global warming. Although scientists are still studying the size and severity of storms that killed 19 people and caused up to $1 billion in damage, initial assessments suggest the destruction had more to do with California's historic drought-to-deluge cycles, mountainous topography and aging flood infrastructure than it did with climate-altering greenhouse gasses.
