A new poll shows Donald Trump topping the list of likely 2024 Republican nominees, reflecting his enduring control of the GOP despite rising stars like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other new party leaders who are likely to challenge him for the White House.
Multiple federal investigations and the tax fraud conviction of his real estate empire have failed to dissuade a plurality of likely Republican voters from siding with Trump, according to a new Morning Consult survey published on Wednesday.
Forty-eight percent of respondents said they want the former president to top the GOP ticket for a third time.
He beats out DeSantis, who is the runner-up with 31 percent support,

I am very concerned about some of his comments of late. There was an article yesterday about his views on DeSantis running and I had to pause at some of Donald Trump's statements. DeSantis won because of Trump?
First off, DeSantis won because of DeSantis. Secondly, God gets the glory. Donald Trump's ego can turn people off and it does with me. Don't get me wrong, I will vote for Donald Trump if he is the nominee but his ego gets in the way of being truly successful. Yes, he is a fighter and works very hard but then he needs to stop thumping his chest. My comments will probably be a thorn in someone's side but it is what it is.

If Trump wins the nomination he will lose the national election, so this is not good news.

Ron DeSantis is one hell of a great Governor "but, but, but, but" Donald J. Trump is one hell of a great President and it would behoove Ron DeSantis to follow very closely on the heels of a Trump presidency because two Rottweiler's in the Oval Office, in succession, would be enough to make the demcommies want to flee the fetid and putrid locale, known as Washington, D.C.

I agree with #3. I understand pollsters have to feed their families and somehow justify their existence. We all do. But even if absolutely accurate (which is unlikely), a poll is nothing but a snapshot what people think at that instant. It has nothing to do with two years from now or even an hour from now. The next news cycle could flip it 180 degrees.

As a Floridian, I am possessive and want Governor DeSantis here for his full term. That poll means nothing because I like Trump also and am grateful the out party has two extremely capable men unlike the donkeys with their braying idiots.

Yes, Trump will win the nomination. But if he doesn't figure out how to win the votes of independents and suburban women - it will not matter because Newsome will be the next President.

Trump and DeSantis can learn a lot from each other. I hope they do that. Trump has unbeatable contemporaneous speech and public rally skills. DeSantis has great skill for actually using the power vested in his office to achieve conservative ends. I like Trump in 2024. DeSantis is still young with plenty of time to succeed Trump in the presidency.

I would vote for him, but with lost enthusiasm due to his poor personnel choices, support for the vaccine, and perplexing random comments that seem to come out of the blue.

Anyone "concerned" about Trump having a big mouth and saying things like some loudly braying donkey having a bad day wasn't a Trump supporter in the first place.
The man hasn't changed a bit. Ever. He -is- a loud braying angry donkey, not some measly mouthed soft spoken carefully pre-polled politician. That's exactly what got him elected.
He sometimes says dumb things. Everyone does. So what? Even if he was the perfectly soft spoken Jeb clone the press would just lie about what he said anyway just like they have been.
My governor DeSantis has not even hinted at interest in national office. This is an entirely media created weaponized narrative designed to pull trump supporters away. Sadly some people are falling for it.

#16 As for personnel choices, you have to choose from the pool you have...same as hiring employees.
Regarding the vaccine, Trump had to go with his "medical experts." He certainly was in no position to disagree with Fauci AT THAT POINT IN TIME.
His random comments have to do with the way his brain works. Six steps ahead of the conversation. You see that in exceptional people sometimes. We've gotten so used to dumb people we think smart people are peculiar!!!

In less than two years if republicans don't fix the cheating banning the ballots with their harvesting Trump or DeSantis will never see the inside of the White House, ever. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has a better chance of that if he was nominated by the communist cheats on the left.
Trump never lost his popularity with me but if the cheating isn't addressed, I wouldn't vote if Trump isn't the nominee. I quit at that point, giving up forever.

Next year the so-called mainstream media and their offshoots will start building up the Republican politician who they think they can push over the Republican primary finish line, and who they can then flip on and assist whoever the leftist, progressive, or socialist Democrat candidate turns out to be in the run up to the general election. More or less following the techniques they used before the 2020 general election, where Biden who has exhibited declining cognitive abilities stayed in his basement, and really never had to campaign for the Presidency, leaving that to the media, and leftist Democrat activists and operatives who rigged the general election. Knowing that Biden could be used as a figurehead for the “woke” socialist Democrat political agenda, guided by a behind the scenes covert leftist Democrat cabal placed in positions throughout the White House, and know that there are enough wimpy Republicans in DC who would quietly go along with a socialist Democrat political agenda as long as the DC Democrats allow them a piece of the pie.

I never heard of "Morning Consult" so I looked into them. They conduct on-line polls. I wouldn't trust this poll at all. In the conservative circles I run in if you said Trump would beat DeSantis by 17 points, they would laugh you out of the room !!

Donald Trump was a great president. Period. He drove the Demon-Rats, and the DC sewer-dwelling Republi-Can't elitists, absolutely crazy! But he loved this country and did everything he could to make it great!!!
He was cheated out of re-election in 2020. Period.
But after the disaster of just 2 years of Lyin' Joe bidet, Trump is the only man with the ability on a national scale, as well as the thick skin, to rescue this republic!!! And he will have my support (both time and money) for his run in 2024!
I like DeSantis. I believe he is the future of the Republican Party. But, at this point, he is a popular Republican governor of what has become a solid Republican state, and he has a solid Republican legislature to make his plans and ambitions in Florida come true. But he has no experience in the federal government, where he will be attacked ruthlessly by Demon-Rats and the MSM. If even one house of Congress is controlled by the Demon-Rats, he is going to experience failure like he has never known. He needs more time to grow a thicker skin, and to study under the best -- and that is Donald Trump!!!

#16, “seem” is the operative word in your comment, imo.
Trump usually says the things he says for a reason. I’ve come to give him the benefit of the doubt, simply because I’m certain he is privy to information that I don’t have about situations & certain particular capabilities to address them, & that info has likely caused him to form an opinion and to respond in a certain way - “out of the blue”.
Time has proved him right about his opinions more often than not. So, I take the long view when it comes to Trump.
Yes, he is human & he has made his mistakes just as all humans do, but his track record for the good of our country, as POTUS, is unparalleled under the dire circumstances we have faced & do face.
There are many days between today & Election Day. I plan on praying for our country and what is best for her each of those days, according to God’s holy will.
