Fed Chair Powell goes beast mode on greenie wokery

Original Article

Well, here's one we didn't see coming. After months of wokery coming out of the Federal Reserve, with leftists promoting weird ideas like the importance of making global warming the primary consideration in assessing how the nation's money supply is to be managed, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell called out the crap and restated how monetary policy actually works. According to the Daily Mail: Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell cautioned that institutions like the Fed must 'resist the temptation' to try and tackle social issues such as climate change in a speech in Sweden Tuesday. Powell, 69, gave his remarks to a forum on central bank independence sponsored by the Swedish central bank.

Comments:

Bad news for the Bidenites. Greenie wokery is fake.

I worked to elect a conservative congressman many years ago, and was at an election party when he won. I asked him what he thought about MMGW, and his answer was one of the better ones I have ever heard. He smiled and said, "Well, it might be happening, and it might be due to mankind and it might be bad. Too many mights stacked up there to worry about." I see no evidence that it is happening. I doubt it has anything to do with human activities. So far, after 50 years of hysteria, nothing bad has actually happened. Total BS, and Powell is (shockingly) right on this.

Climate Change doesn't even qualify as a social issue, it's a label on boxes of free money sent to backward nations. The European Union and Africa will miss our participation in the charity program but I'm sure there are other ways they can use America as their ATM. According to real science, here are the reasons for the Earth's climate variations from year to year: 1. 24 hour or one-day rotation cycle 2. 365 1/4 day orbital cycle 3. 11 year sunspot cycle 4. 26,000 year cycle due to axis wobble 5. 100,000 year expanding-contracting orbit cycle The only way we can affect any of them is to blow up the earth with every hydrogen bomb in our arsenals and the good news then will be that there will be no more climate change - ever, and no more people to worry about it.

At least someone up there understands that the Fed has a full plate just trying to deal with inflation and full employment.

It seems to me that over the many past decades, the Federal government has been increasingly tinkering and meddling in the functioning of the economy, mostly by socialists, trying to exact a "fairer" system, trying to create a predictable economy, which is impossible, as you cannot possibly prepare for all the variables, permutations and possibilities, things you cannot predict, and things which you think you've predicted which prove you to be the fool. In other words, the socialist, Marxist "command and control" style economic plans never worked, and they can't work because no matter how diligent the central planners are, they simply do not have the ability to see the future. That's one reason why socialist economies bump along, they don't roll along. We have now the most command-and-control regime we've ever had, the latest evidence in its crazy goal of imposing a green economy, even announcing the need to rid the planet of gas stoves.

t was a story that came and went a few days ago. The Chicago Board of Education's Inspector General's office came up with an annual report noting hundreds -- and hundreds -- of sexual incidents by Chicago public school teachers commiting crimes against students in their "care" -- groomings, rapes, "love" affairs, and inappropriate sexual touching and encounters. The figure was described in the report as "an extraordinary high case volume." Kira Davis at RedState has descriptions of some of the most revolting activities. According to the Daily Caller: The OIG’s Sexual Allegations Unit (SAU) opened 447 cases investigating teachers for allegedly grooming, sexually assaulting,
Biden urged to extradite Bolsonaro after

President Joe Biden faced mounting pressure Monday to remove Jair Bolsonaro from the country a day after supporters of the former far-right leader stormed Brazil's Congress, Supreme Court and presidential palace. Riot police were deployed to protest camps in Brazil’s capital as the government vowed to prosecute the rioters for the assault on the nation's democracy. The attack, which carried unmistakable echoes of events at the U.S. Capitol two years ago, also turned attention to Florida — where Bolsonaro flew days before his term ended. “Nearly 2 years to the day the US Capitol was attacked by fascists, we see fascist movements abroad attempt to do the same in Brazil,”

When thousands of rioters ransacked Brazil's monumental government buildings on Sunday, political leaders condemned the grave attack on the country's democratic fabric. In waves of green and yellow, thousands of far-right supporters of Brazil's ex-leader, Jair Bolsonaro, wreaked havoc on Congress, the Supreme Court and Presidential Palace in Brasilia, leaving a trail of destruction behind them. But the three buildings also held a rich collection of art, some of which suffered irreparable damage.

Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to a hospital in Orlando, Florida, with "abdominal pain," reports say – a day after some of his hardcore supporters stormed the presidential palace and a number of other federal buildings in capital city of Brasilia. Mr Bolsonaro has faced hospital stays and multiple times in recent years with gut blockages after being stabbed while campaigning for the presidency in 2018. He traveled to the United States two days before Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took the office of president on New Year’s Day. The initial reports came from Brazil’s O Globo newspaper, with a source close to the family of Mr Bolsonaro

Nate Thayer, a risk-taking, publicity-drawing journalist whose career was capped by an exclusive jungle interview in Cambodia with Pol Pot, the leader of one of the worst convulsions of mass killing of the last century, has died at his home in East Falmouth, Mass. He was 62. His body was found on Tuesday, but it was not clear precisely when he had died, his brother, Robert Thayer, said. He said his brother had long struggled with multiple ailments. Mr. Thayer interviewed Pol Pot in October 1997 after months of clandestine meetings with Khmer Rouge guerrillas, whom Pol Pot led. After crossing the border from Thailand,

It was all supposed to be so well-scripted and harmonious. Joe Biden would visit the border at the politically safe, Democrat-led El Paso entry point, make a speech about how well he's doing on his migrant surge crisis, and off camera, someone would clean up the migrant mess in the vicinity to give Joe the backdrop to spin to the public that all was quiet and under control at the border Ummm... but in much chaos, it's really not working out the way he thought it would work out. It's bad. Start with the street cleanup effort, which has led to before-and-after tweets making the rounds on the Internet here.

Has Barack Obama gone from ex-president to Democrat party crime boss? It sure looks like it, based on a new report about his treatment of Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Investigative reporter Lee Smith has got a stunning report that ran this week in Tablet, comparable in impact to that report by Molly Ball at Time who wrote about how elites conspired to "fortify democracy" by rigging the election against President Trump in 2020 and afterwards thought it was a smart thing to crow about. Smith's report beginns with how the FBI "hacked" Twitter, not just engaging in a "master-canine" relationship as Twitter files

Jill Biden had three lesions removed on Wednesday during outpatient surgery at Walter Reed National Military Hospital - with at least two of them determined to be cancerous.  The first lady had gone in for a procedure to remove a lesion from above her right eye, which White House Dr. Kevin O'Connor said was confirmed to be basal cell carcinoma.  Doctors also excised a lesion from her left eyelid and sent it in for microscopic examination to determine if it was cancerous. They also found a lesion on her chest, which appeared to be basal cell carcinoma, and doctors extracted. They later confirmed it was that type of skin cancer.

Following yet another failure of government control of transportation -- the FAA system debacle -- Pete Buttigieg has been soundly thrashed again for his incompetence. The FAA failure is only one of many fiascos over the past year laid at the feet of the erstwhile secretary of Transportation. Recall when he and his “husband” were on paternity leave for nearly two months while the maritime shipping supply chain crisis was going on last fall. Next, he was AWOL during the railroad strike negotiations and really played no role in brokering a deal. As a matter of fact, he was on vacation in Portugal at the time.
