Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, the Bavarian-born theologian whose conservative Roman Catholicism earned him the nickname “God’s Rottweiler” and who shocked his flock by suddenly resigning the papacy after just eight years, died Saturday, the Vatican said. He was 95. Benedict was the longest-living pope, having surpassed Pope Leo XIII in September 2020. “With sorrow I inform you that the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, passed away today at 9:34 in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican,” the Vatican said in a statement early Saturday. No cause of death was provided.

He did not resign. He was too conservative so the globalists forced him out. If you think that 0bama wasn’t involved, think again. As a Catholic, I was pleased when he became pope. I hoped that he would do for Western Europe what John Paul II had done for Eastern Europe. Western Europe has become so secular that churches there are not much more than museums for the tourists. I had hoped that Benedict, coming from Western Europe, would be able to bring people back to the church. For me, since 2005, he has always been the real pope. Rest In Peace, Your Holiness.

Ditto, #. 4. I never believed any "official" story about his supposed resignation. The lid was kept on the circumstances so tightly. Maybe someone here recalls, but were there any sightings or interviews of him after he left? The whole thing was bizarre. Now that he is freed from his earthly chains, I pray he will intercede for us and bring the Church back from the edge of the cliff before it is too late.

Have lived my entire life doing what I knew was right based on the knowledge that God would (and did) provide me the strength and courage to fight the good fight. His rewards have been greater than what I feel was deserved, and I can’t help but thank Him daily. Have NEVER understood how a man of “faith” could be so weak, and I may incorrectly assign such weakness to a glaring (and obvious) lack of faith. We cannot know what was in Benny’s soul, but his actions were neither holy nor honorable in any way. He caved to evil and it’s despicable. I can only hope that he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, but this crew believe themselves to be above His law. This world will not miss him for one second.

#2 - Young Ratzinger was not a "brown shirt", the SA having been disbanded years before. He was a Hitler Youth, like others largely fored into the organization. He was drafted, apparently as a flakhilfer, not an unusual use of these kids, passing ammo and supporting an anti-aircraft battery. It is noted he deserted and went home...which would have been very risky knowing he would have been hung or shot summarily if caught. There is a whole lot we don't know about the circumstances of his resignation, the election of Francis and his ditching conservative cardinals wherever he found them.

It was all supposed to be so well-scripted and harmonious. Joe Biden would visit the border at the politically safe, Democrat-led El Paso entry point, make a speech about how well he's doing on his migrant surge crisis, and off camera, someone would clean up the migrant mess in the vicinity to give Joe the backdrop to spin to the public that all was quiet and under control at the border Ummm... but in much chaos, it's really not working out the way he thought it would work out. It's bad. Start with the street cleanup effort, which has led to before-and-after tweets making the rounds on the Internet here.

Has Barack Obama gone from ex-president to Democrat party crime boss? It sure looks like it, based on a new report about his treatment of Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Investigative reporter Lee Smith has got a stunning report that ran this week in Tablet, comparable in impact to that report by Molly Ball at Time who wrote about how elites conspired to "fortify democracy" by rigging the election against President Trump in 2020 and afterwards thought it was a smart thing to crow about. Smith's report beginns with how the FBI "hacked" Twitter, not just engaging in a "master-canine" relationship as Twitter files

"We have a great future ahead," he declared, adding: "Battles are lost, but we will not lose the war." It was Bolsonaro's first live address since his narrow October defeat, after which the active social media user fell uncharacteristically silent.

The public is being bamboozled about the conditions for pretrial release of accused mega-fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried. It is the worst possible signal to those who fear that his scores of millions of dollars of political donations have bought him kid-glove treatment by the judicial system. The stories you read and hear from the media would have you believe that a “record” bail of $250 million has been paid to ensure that he doesn’t flee the country or otherwise evade prosecution. Where that figure comes from, I don’t know, but this account from The Hill suggests that the federal prosecutors from the Southern District of New York had a hand in it:

The majestic structures of ancient Rome have survived for millennia — a testament to the ingenuity of Roman engineers, who perfected the use of concrete. But how did their construction materials help keep colossal buildings like the Pantheon (which has the world's largest unreinforced dome) and the Colosseum standing for more than 2,000 years? Roman concrete, in many cases, has proven to be longer-lasting than its modern equivalent, which can deteriorate within decades. Now, scientists behind a new study say they have uncovered the mystery ingredient that allowed the Romans to make their construction material so durable and build elaborate structures in challenging places such as docks, sewers and earthquake zones.
