Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell chimed in late Friday evening to congratulate now-Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy.
McCarthy weathered days of opposition, eventually offering enough concessions to secure the votes needed to break the logjam. Most of the conservatives involved seemed to walk away happy, garnering key positions on committees and rule changes that should bring the House back to some level of sanity.
For his part, McConnell decided to drop the following message, and I’m officially dead. I cease to be alive.(Tweet) I’m not sure there’s anything conservatives despise more than being gaslit by their own leadership, and this is gaslighting of the highest order.

The Turtle needs to be shelled.
Start by seizing Elaine's ill-gotten portfolio - - and proceed vigorously from there.

If Kevin's married, why don't we ever hear anything about or from his wife?

The I-75 Brent Spence bridge from Ohio to Kentucky is badly in need of repair and replacement. It is approximately sixty years old. I-75 is a major north-south interstate and is densely traveled by heavy semis, and parts of it have been crumbling for the last ten or twenty years. I should know; I used to live in Cincinnati.

McConnell is an old school establishment Republican who does whatever he wants, regardless of the voters wishes or even other Republican Senators. Romney probably loves him. What we just saw in the House needs to be done in the Senate. How many will have the testicles to get rid of him?

FTA - "McConnell isn’t going to do a thing to “check and balance” Joe Biden over the next term. Instead of insulting everyone’s intelligence, he should just stop talking."
When will the national petition urging Turtle to resign get started?

McCarthy has been elected Speaker-- big whoop!
Thank goodness for those 20 who held their ground until those items which had been discussed and agreed to in principle became part of the limitations on top-down Pelosi-style corruption and dictatorship!!!
SO MANY wanted a vote of INSTANT approval BEFORE any of these agreements had been agreed to---
ANOTHER gaslighting operation of BigTech/Big Media or just LOTS of uninformed angry and impatient "people"?
Its time to move forward now that these things have been signed on to, but lest we forget.....
MCcarthy voted for Same Sex Marraige
McCarthy voted for vaccine mandates for the Military
McCarthy voted to give away $100 million dollars to Ukraine
McCarthy voted for drafting women into military service
McCarthy vote for the January 6 fishing expedition and witch hunt
McCarthy voted FOR making DC the 51st State with 2 Senators
McCarthy voted FOR having a DACA AMNESTY
No wonder those 20 (some who made jackasses of themselves) opposed quick voting

Right, #9. And don't believe for a minute that McCarthy is going to honor the compromise commitments he made to the Speaker hold-outs. He and McConnell are two snakes in the same grass.

Establishment Republicans like McConnell *prefer* to be the minority in congress. That makes it easier to do exactly what's described in this article, work behind the scenes to help the Democrats enlarge the scope of government while publicly claiming conservative principles.

I am beginning to wonder if this is Turtle's last term in office. Given his behavior and hatred of the American voters in his own party, makes sense if he doesn't plan on reelection when it comes time.

I hate the turtle as much as anyone here, but I really dont see a problem with his statement. We know its all lies because he is a politician, but other than that, what could he have said that would have been more appropriate?
Besides "I resign". Maybe that.

The current Congress is not bound by the misbehavior of the previous Congress. We can pass a different set of spending bills for this year, ignoring or overriding the previous budget for this same period. We can lower the taxes also. The time to act is now.

The Senate happily installed this man again as their leader when he has played the part of Uniparty Mitch for six years now. How can we get rid of the clueless clowns in Congress and the president before the country is wrecked completely? Maybe we lucked out when the little red ripple didn't win back the Senate. We have a clearer picture of who our enemies are when they identify as democrats.

Yeah right. Two articles down - now Biden wants to work across the aisle. It is my opinion that Kevin McCarthy should now have to earn every cent of his speakership. . .
