An 82-year-old Navy veteran working at a Maryland Walmart has retired thanks to an interaction with a customer that went viral on social media. Butch Marion officially retired from his job on Wednesday weeks after a Walmart customer walked into the store and filmed the 82-year-old veteran ringing up items in the checkout line and posted the video on TikTok, which raised over $100,000 for Marion, WTTG-TV reported. That customer, bug extermination business owner Rory McCarty, had seen a previous TikTok video where a woman went into a Walmart and filmed an elderly employee bagging groceries and raised money for that employee by posting the video online.

Sweet sentiment, but how much of the donation will end up going to fund 87,000 IRS salaries?

If he’s still working at 82, he wasn’t very careful with his money in his younger years. He’s going to find out REAL SOON that you can’t retire on a hundred grand.

I think it was a good deed done by a Stranger. Good to know there are still people out there who care for the Elderly who thought they were going to be able to retire on Social Security! Maybe he wasn't careful with his money, or maybe, he never had money. There are thousands of Americans who worked at jobs that didn't offer Health care or Retirement packages, so if they were unlucky enough to have a Medical emergency it could wipe out any savings they managed to put away. I know I have had family members who were in that kind of a financial bind due to huge Medical Bills. I say, Good Wishes to him. If he has a home that is paid for, a Hundred Thousand Dollars can go a long way!

It depends where he lives if he can retire on $100,000 grand. And don't blame this guy. My husband was sick for 16 years before he died. His medicines over those years - plus the 18 months we waited for Medicare when he first got sick (the waiting period is longer now), the cost of his insurance, the surgery he needed where we had to pay 20% hospital cost, of doctor's fees and other medical professionals, ate into our personal savings, then his 401 k which we could received early due to his illness and eventually my 401 k. You can't judge people based on your experiences! God bless this man and the person who helped him!

I have been noticing more and more elderly folks working in grocery stores, drug stores, fast food places and other jobs in my area. Inflation is killing them. Not that anyone in DC cares.

I graduated high school with a guy named Butch. He was a good guy who played football and joined the Marines after we graduated. Last I heard he retired as a Gunnery Seargent back when the Odiot was president. Hopefully Mr. Marion fairs well in his retirement.

President Joe Biden promoted his plan Tuesday to make it easier for migrants to come to the United States after meeting with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. “This has been the greatest migration in human history around the world as well as in this hemisphere,” Biden said, speaking about the ongoing migration crisis after meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during a summit in Mexico City. But the president did not appear troubled by the volume of border crossings and migrants flooding into local communities in the United States, placing a burden on U.S. citizens and legal residents.

A big problem Democrats and the complicit media have when it comes to the discovery of classified documents in President Joe Biden’s former office at a Washington think tank is that they set the precedent with their response to former President Donald Trump allegedly possessing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home. Another problem they have little interest in is that the documents were at a “Chinese-funded” think tank, according to Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. It was on the latter note that Trump had plenty to say, with the media quick to dismiss his assertions as “wild speculation” — the odd thing about Trump’s speculations is that, over time,

As we've all learned this week, multiple news reports allege that President Biden's personal attorneys discovered Obama administration-era classified materials among his belongings at a private office, where they undoubtedly do not belong. The items were handed over to the National Archives shortly after they were allegedly uncovered in a closet during the process of packing up the space. Biden's Attorney General has referred the matter to the US Attorney in Chicago for additional scrutiny, as this episode very much appears to involve improper handling of classified information and potential unlawful conduct.

The “Nation of Immigrants” narrative was invented in the 1950s by advocates for more migration. This is not to be confused with humorous “nicknames” — the most clever of which I enjoy, and have coined a few — but rather attempting to paint an adversary into a particular corner defined by you. Third-party “you,” that is. And of course, the most popular label by far among certain factions of the Republican Party is “RINO.” The definition of “RINO” — Republican in Name Only — not only used to be easy to understand; it was easy to identify Republicans who fit the RINO mold.
