The true enemy of a constitutional republic are the Mitch McConnell’s and Nancy Mace’s of the professional political class who build systems to undermine the will of the people under the pretense of representing them. These are the abusers, the professional abusers, the psychologically Machiavellian and inherently evil people within the system of power who operate on false pretense. They are smiley-faced fascists and liars, period.
“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate

The D'Rat plants are no longer hiding, they are in full view. I wonder if their constituents will continue to support them?

When I started reading this, it was with a negative opinion from the bias inherent in the headline. But, what I found was an intelligent, artivulate, representative of her district that wants the house to function, properly. She gets my applause.

I'm sure a certain regular commenter here from SC has something to say about Mace.

She didn't say she was a purple Republican. She said her district is purple. This headline was a bit misleading in a few ways, actually.

Thanks, OP. Nobody understands the swamp better than Sundance. Nobody.

Total crap article. Mace is my congresswoman and she is terrific. Her opponent in the last election was a lunatic that would have been a new member of the Squad. Sundance has lost all credibility in my view.

New term here, purple Republican. Sounds fancier than saying neocon which is what it sounds like she is. A really big con.

Amazing that GETTR allows real discussion with no moderation — suggest everyone go to GETTR for real first amendment rights.

She is a Republican who wants to represent her district and will carefully consider her votes -- must be fascist! What utter nonsense, typical of this Sundance person. He/she is incapable of making an argument, incapable of writing a sentence without ad hominem. People like Sundance do far more to diminish our chances of regaining the White House in 2024 than Nancy Mace. But I suppose that makes me a fascist, too.

It really seems that some who are commenting are doing so based on Sundance's summary opinion instead of reading what the Congresswoman actually said. And I'm sorry, but for the second time in the last two weeks, I have to say that I think Sundance has missed the mark....

After reading what she actually said, if quoted correctly, I agree with her, and poster #2. The backroom deals as with Pelosi were supposed to be over according to many of the members I heard during the speaker fight, but apparently nothing really changes but the faces of those doing the deals. I know they confer, but they need to do it for the people who voted them into office, not for themselves and some prestigous, in their minds, seat on a commitee. Time will tell who lives up to promises made and those who don't.

Ugh... these despicable garbage people breed like rats. You finally dump a Cheney and a Kirzinger and get a Mace and 200+ others voting status quo RINO.

The SC court has ordered that Nancy's district be redrawn to include more democrats. She has to be even more careful about how she "represents" her constituents.

First of all: I love the link/meme/pic at the end of the article.
Secondly: FTA I like the rules package. It is the most open, fair, and fiscally conservative package we’ve had in 30 years. I support it, but what I don’t support is a small number of people trying to get a deal done or deals done for themselves in private, in secret to get a vote or vote present. I don’t support that.
If I may say so, Nance, you are also there to represent all of us and this change in rules would not have come about except for the actions of the 20 you are castigating. Don't you think you could have been in on the 'back room deals' if you wanted to be included? And those secret, shameful, hidden, back room deals.... you'll be seeing them in print and voting on them soon, right? How secret is that? As secret as the FBI influencing social media?
I don't think so.

I read the article/interview transcript. Every Congressperson represents Republicans,Democrats, etc in their district. Nothing new there. Unless maybe Nancy Pelosi's district. Dem infighting when The Squad back in 2020nb(only FOUR members of her caucus) forced Nancy to cave - that was a good thing - Nancy Pelosi is a savvy political we were told, but when 20 or so members of the Republican caucus challenge the status quo - it's CAHOS, the end of democracy, etc. I only wish our side was better able at articulating this instead of trying to sound all reach across the aisle sweet talk.

I live in Mace’s district and it leans blue. The mayor of Charleston is a demonrat. It’s something of a miracle that she beat the incumbent democrat in 2020 and that she was reelected last year. I have issues with some of her votes and the fact that she would not have won without the support of Trump, who she then stabbed in the back before she was even sworn in. But I understand why she has to sometimes sit on the fence.
To further #8’s comment - her opponents in both of her elections were lunatics.
