The beautiful 17-year-old actress Madeleine LeBeau fled Paris in June, 1940, just hours before the Germans marched in. The face of her Jewish husband, a celebrated film star in France, was featured on Nazi propaganda posters as a typical Jew. The rest of his family died in Nazi concentration camps.(snip), they made their way to Lisbon, and (snip), with forged visas and all the complications, uncertainties, and delays imaginable in wartime, they managed to make their way eventually to Hollywood. Two years later, still only 19, Madeleine LeBeau would play a memorable role in a pivotal scene in what would become one of the most well-loved movies ever made: Casablanca.

What happened to that America? It's gone.
Never mind. Rhetorical question. We know what happened. We let it happen.

Back in the early 1960's, the lie-berals decided to start Civil War 2. And they are winning it convincingly, since conservatives have been too busy working and raising our families to realize that we had better start fighting back!!!
The lie-berals destroyed public education, and turned both public schools and public universities into lie-beral indoctrination centers. The removed God from the public sector, and replaced Him with deviant and immoral sexual mores. Our young people have been brainwashed into hating our country. They despise patriotism. If there is another world war, we might as well do like France and just surrender on day one, since we won't have any patriotic young men to fight for our survival. Just a bunch of man-bun wearing snowflakes that hide in their mommy's basement if someone says something to hurt their feelings.
Now the lie-berals want to take away the guns of law-abiding citizens. Then we can't fight back anymore. Just load ourselves into those cattle cars to go to the lie-beral "re-education camps".
Yes, America was blessed. But lie-berals have done everything they can to destroy that. And if we don't start fighting back soon, there won't be anything left to fight back for!!!!

The difference between the characters in pre-World War II Casablanca and us in pre-World War III United States is that they had Rick who could wangle them an exit visa to get on an airplane and fly away to safety but we have no Rick and even if we did, we have nowhere to go, so our only choice is to join those on the side of the bar who are singing "The Intenationale," you know, the socialist anthem with the refrain "So comrades come rally and the last fight let us face. . .The Internationale unites the human race" or to stay on our side and sing "The Star Spangledsd Banner," you know, the national anthem that ends with "the land of the free and the home of the brave." Here's lookin' at you, Deplorables!

I for one am not looking for a visa to ANYWHERE. This is MY country and I will stay and fight for it. I don’t know exactly what my role will be, but I’ll proudly accept it, whatever comes.

Yes God did bless America. He was involved in protecting George Washington while he fought for our independence. If you watch Kelsey Grammer's miniseries about the battles that made America what she is today on Fox Business channel, the one about the Revolution was fascinating. One bit from the episode. When Washington had to escape from Brooklyn Heights along with his troops, God rolled in a thick, pea soup style fog to cover their retreat across the bay. Fog was not a normal part of that part of the nation. But God sent it to save the day for Washington.

That was back when the majority of people realized that God helps those who help themselves & try to stand for what’s right for good to prevail. They were willing to fight for freedom & for their survival with everything in them.
God helped them & they succeeded - not just for themselves, but for the generations that followed.
Too many people believe that either God, or the government, will take care of them without any effort on their part these days.
God says to keep His commandments. So does the government. The difference is that God would still bless us for our good, if we would only turn to Him and obey. The modern government’s commands? They bless the government.
We still have a choice. But, it requires action & courage just like it always has. It’s a lot harder to do now than it would have been if we had acted before now & there will be suffering, but suffering will come either way.
Our forefathers had another advantage over our current younger generations- they knew God’s will & they knew their history.
Those two concepts have been grossly distorted today. If we aren’t able to fight for our freedoms, we had better wake up & pray & support & stand for those who have proven their understanding of what is at stake and their willingness to fight to preserve what’s left of it.
May God have mercy & bless every effort for good & those who stand for it. That is our only hope.

The thing that makes this a great movie is great quotes. The most famous are well known. One of mine that isn't quite as famous as when the German officer asks Rick what his nationality is. Bogie replied "I am a drunkard." I've always wanted to use that line but I gave up booze decades ago.

FTA: Good art helps us respond commensurately to the world as it really is, a fight for love and glory, a case of do or die. In the real world as it always is, the cause of freedom is there, waiting to be joined.

I have seen Casablanca more than once. Always centered on Bergman. This lends new perspective. We are on the verge of losing our freedom, our country forever. And the enemy is within. Next doors. On the TV screen, Across the kitchen table sometimes. As Bismarck, the Iron Chancellor of Germany said once - God loves fools and Americans. Let’s hope the latter is true.
