Two-thirds of Americans say rising prices across the board will affect their Thanksgiving plans this year, a survey from The Vacationer revealed.
The survey asked respondents if high levels of inflation are affecting their Thanksgiving plans this year. The vast majority said the country’s current economic state is, in fact, affecting their plans in some way. About a quarter, 24.73 percent, attributed the issues to the high cost of food, while 16.75 attributed it to the increased travel cost “due to gas prices.” Another 25.02 percent said both the increased cost of food and gas will affect their plans.

None of this matters anymore...... now that the manipulation of the economy and the news before the mid-terms, we are out on our own now...
Many of our customary election-day voters, didn't show up, while the young showed up in droves worried about abortion, transgenders, and weed which are things that matter to them.

But a good many of you in America still vote dim? How come? Because cell phones still work? Electric and gas at the house no problemo? Credit cards are a ok? Lots of gas at the pump and drive that gas-guzzler anywhere you want? Plenty of higher-priced food at the grocery stores? Banks are still wide open? The gimmedats keep on a coming? The political attack ads during the mid-term election were spot-on?
But dim voters, what gives, then inflation is no biggie, right?

At this point what difference does it make. This is the new normal so get used to it. I’m not going anywhere. I wanted to drive from LA to Oakland to visit my mom and daughter for TG but gas is over $6/gal on the I-5 and the hotel i stay at is $200+/night. Sorry guys can’t do it.

And there's there's shrinkflation. We bought a "pint" of Häagen-Dazs on sale for $4.00 at the Giant. But the pint had shrunk to a crummy 14 ounces. 😒

#1...Meatlof is way too expensive. Good ground beef was $3.99lb this week on sale but I could get a nice turkey for $.59 lb.
A full Thanksgiving meal can be expensive but if you stick with the "loss leaders" at the grocery store, buy off brand, make your rolls, gravy, stuffing, potatoes, (sweet, and mashed both $.19 lb this week ) from scratch you can still pull off a decent dinner. Of course if you turned down you nose when your Mom wanted to teach you to cook because you'll always have Door Dash, you might be at the mercy of inflation.
We'll be having a good dinner by ourselves this year. Gas is way too high for everyone to travel.

In re #11, I was born and raised in Libertyville in Lake County. Prices up there were always higher. After my mother died, wife and I left for Colorado. I bit cheaper here, but more importantly, the people on the west slope are tried and proven very good people.

American complain about anything they’re asked about. Even with $6/gal gas, so what? Call mom on your unlimited plan cell phone. Use FaceTime for a picture. #11 has it right.

I'm with #11. Got a whole turkey cheap. Everything is made from scratch, and I have most of the ingredients on hand. Had to have fresh cranberries, oranges and apples for relish though. Just the two of us, but I shouldn't have to cook again for days.

Another "Duh" poll that you could have taken from your basement. Other impediments to fun and vacation travel are jungle-spawned mobs that are now running loose around many former good vacation destinations and an airline industry that runs like a customer service book of bad examples. Find a nice remote park or patch of woods and enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving.
