House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy's pledge to block Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff and "Squad" member Ilhan Omar from committees next Congress drew a strong response from the lawmakers. Omar, a Minnesota Democrat who has been accused of making antisemitic statements, claimed that McCarthy's pledge was just another example of her being targeted by Republicans. "From the moment I was elected, the Republican Party has made it their mission to use fear, xenophobia, Islamophobia and racism to target me on the House floor and through millions of dollars of campaign ads," said Omar. I no longer fear being assaulted with communist verbiage. It has lost its power. Everything is racist. Everything is homophobic (if such a thing even exists). I know what I am. I know what I believe. The only thing that is left is for them to prove it, which they cannot. When we live in a society where the accusation is the proof of fact, then we no longer live in a free or just society. We are one rung from a state of nature - civil war where those who abuse us will discover quite quickly that the power to terminate trumps their feelings.

McCarthy is a liar and will do nothing in the end. Every time he opens his pie hole you know what spews forth is a torrent. So arrogant that McCarthy is acting like he is already Speaker of the House. Such a corrupt organized crime oligarchy we are now ruled by and the republicans in Congress are made members. Where to turn and what to do is the big question.

In 1994, after the Republicans made a sweep of the House elections, I recall they held out an olive branch to democrats to allow them to share committee leadership positions. We should have just kicked them in the teeth. They are snakes. Metaphorically, we need to crush their heads. No more playing nice. We need to crush them. We need to politically destroy them. And if that does not work, then maybe we don't need to be using metaphors.

I'll believe it when I see it. Let's see what McCarthy does when he gets slammed by the usual suspects in the MSM, Will he have the coglioni to stick to his decision or "take the high road" and back off. If he does that, he'll feel the wrath of MTG and never get the votes to be Speaker. The word is that he took money from Bankman-Fried to use against Republicans he didn't like in the election.

#17, I believe they thought they were doing the "right thing" back then, plus they had not lead in such a long time, I believe they thought it was the right thing to do, back then. Today, Nancy Pelosi, established a new precedent with her J6 committee, which enables SOTH-elect McCarthy to say what he wants and appoint who he wants on whatever committee(s) he wants. Schiff is a major leaker, Swalwell looks to be very compromised, and outside of hearing comments like Omar stated in this article, she does not seem to offer much. It also neutralizes them for campaign cash, or any use within the Intel community if they're not on the committee. Certainly hope Schiff is investigated for how he acted and conducted the two impeachment schemes, particularly how Republicans were regularly not allowed access to their private meetings. Expose the process and how they "obtained" their information.

25, I think you are right on that but the fact remains... conservatives who are principled are playing on an uneven field with liberals who are not. Liberals have such a paucity of moral conviction about them... they will lie, cheat and steal to get what they want and, frankly, we need to look to the greater good and play their game better than they do. First step... McCarthy puts them as far down the legislative food chain as is humanly possible.

At least Trump is smart enough to not threaten to leave the Republican Party twice every week. If he wanted to go, he'd be gone. I don't know McCarthy from Adam but his record as Speaker if he becomes Speaker will speak loudly enough starting in January. For the record, I think it a sign of weakness to for a would-be Speaker to broadcast his/her intentions prior to taking the gavel. It's like the overwhelming need too stick a wet finger in the air to gauge public reaction before sticking your neck out and only getting firmly behind things that are popular in the polls, the hallmark of a populist not a conservative Republican. Both Tip and Newt, from opposite ends of the political spectrum during their tenures, were consistent enough as members of Congress over time, such that it wasn't necessary to advertise their intentions. Tip was consistently liberal but not a communist. Newt was the post-Reagan voice of conservatism. Since the mid-terms, this site has become rife with Republican haters, and conservative bashing, which excluding Trump, is tolerated, even as the term "conservative-populist" has become more common and popular. I've never met a conservative-populist, as populists tend to follow the windsock of popular opinion, heavily influenced by the media. There are current Republican members of Congress that I'd much rather see take the gavel, based on their records as members. Paul Ryan appeared to me to be to the left of Sam Rayburn, an old school Classical Liberal, which isn't especially liberal at all and dang sure isn't progressive. I hope to live long enough to see both houses of Congress and the Executive Branch return to conservative control. Only then, I believe, will America be made great again.

After a four-year reign, California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff’s days as chair of the House Intelligence Committee, marked by abuse and grotesque politicization, are finally numbered. But it’s not just Schiff’s chairmanship headed out the door with the incoming Republican majority; it’s his seat on the committee altogether. On Sunday, GOP House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy made clear a trio of liberal lawmakers were on the chopping block for their assignments after the chamber took the unprecedented step of dictating minority committee appointments under Democrat rule. Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene was kicked off of her committees just a month after her congressional inauguration.

The Biden family’s influence peddling has always been a scandal left to the eye of the beholder. For some, it was dismissed as Russian disinformation or, more recently, simply the result of a drug addicted son of the president. Neither is true, but Hunter Biden has always been an example of motivated perception, or perceptual bias, where we tend to see what we want to see and turn a "blind eye" to what we do not want to see. Next month, Tesla plans to deliver the first of its electric Semi trucks — able to haul a full 40 ton-load some 500 miles on a single charge. These massive batteries-on-wheels may accelerate the transition to electrified transport, but those responsible for delivering the power are starting to ask: Are we ready for this? Probably not, according to a sweeping new study (snip) conducted by utility company National Grid. (snip) As more electric trucks hit the road, the projected power needs for a big truck stop by 2035 will equal that of a small town. Even the authors who planned the study were caught off guard

Is there any point in voting if we can’t trust the system -- or whether the liberty-denier Democrats will abide by the rule of law or basic decency? (snip) That terrible sick-in-your-stomach sensation when scam artists laugh and you realize they’ve done it again? When all of our hopes for the conservation of liberty have been destroyed by the same type of schemes that we all should have seen coming a mile away? How does a party trying to destroy our constitutional republic for two years with poll after poll screaming that we are on the wrong track avoid a humiliating defeat at the ballot box?

The appearance will likely be the top doc's final time at the podium, before his planned retirement at the end of the year.

Hey, their Akin strategy worked in New Hampshire, didn’t it? And in Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania too, for that matter. Democrats spent a reported $53 million boosting what Joe Biden calls “ultra-MAGA” candidates into nominations for key Senate and House races in order to protect vulnerable incumbents or open seats. And since that strategy largely worked, we can expect Democrats to try it again in 2024. And who better to promote than the ultra-MAGAiest MAGA of all? Especially since it is beginning to dawn on Democrats than almost any other Republican with active respiration will beat Biden like a bongo drum.

Former members of the charismatic Christian group, People of Praise, claim Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett, a member of the community, can not be impartial in the upcoming 303 Creative LLC v Elenis case, which will determine if a graphic design firm must include same-sex weddings on the wedding websites it designs. The ex-members, who consider themselves to be “survivors” of the People of Praise, are calling on Barrett to recuse herself based on her continued affiliation with the group, according to The Guardian. Her involvement with the group, they argue, indicates that she has participated in anti-LGBTQ+ policies. In 2015, Barrett joined the board of Trinity Schools Inc.,
