“Blame Donald Trump” is the name of the game after the long-promised red wave turned into a red ripple Tuesday night. Republicans appeared likely to narrowly recapture the House, with the Senate still a toss-up.
The former president received the brunt of the blame by some Republicans for the underperformance, with several high-profile Trump-backed candidates on the ballot failing to capture key races and deliver a GOP sweep of both houses of Congress.
Some conservatives argued it’s time for the GOP to dump Mr. Trump and rally around the man who many now view as the future of the party: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“We need a Republican overhaul.

It's too easy and lazy to blame Trump for everything.

No, I do not blame Trump for everything but the fact remains that his endorsement was not the magical touch everyone wanted, We simply cannot afford to nominate someone with so much negative baggage in '24 however great DJT's Presidency once was.

it is another manifestation of their fear of, and desperate need to destroy, DJT.
Carville knows Trump is the greatest threat to the dims.

It is interesting to me that Trump is being blamed after he has a 174 to 9 success rate in his endorsements. Does McConnell own any of the losses, after all, he pulled funding from candidates to make sure his pet, Murkowski, was flush with cash. Doesn’t this push by the establishment GOP and their like-minded talking heads to pronounce DeSantis as the new leader of the party give you pause? I believe that the GOPe had a lot to do with some of the losses we suffered simply because they refused to demand that election laws be revamped to prevent the chaos we are witnessing right now. No one in this country wants Donald Trump sidelined more than the establishment. They know that if he is elected in 2024, the whole rats nest in DC is going to come under scrutiny. Old China Mitch may be vulnerable along with many others who have been lapdogs of the Chinese and who knows what other countries or corporations they have been shilling for their entire careers. Their focus certainly has not been the American people else they would have made election integrity a priority and pushed their states to clean up the rolls and work to prevent this never ending counting.
I fear we are heading right back to the future and, once again, the same Rinos that have been benefiting themselves through graft and corruption will continue down that path much to the detriment of this country and its people. Another thing, if you believe DeSantis is the warrior that Trump is you are mistaken. He is an excellent governor but he does not have what it takes to go toe to toe with the deep state. Mark my words, as good as he is, he is not going to buck the system. He has been absorbed into the borg.

I don't blame Trump for anything. He did a great job as President. I voted for him twice!! What I don't like is him going after Gov. DeSantis. I watched him destroy his opponents during the last Campaign and I don't like it. It's not necessary for Trump to do that. He should run on his accomplishments and let the other people make their case. Governor DeSantis is the Best Governor we've had in the 20 years we lived in Florida. Obviously, others agree judging from his huge Win! So, I don't think it's in Trump's best interest to try to take down Gov. DeSantis because he just might LOSE Florida if he is the Republican Candidate. There are a lot of people here who won't take kindly to you talking trash to the Governor we think a lot of! I'm one of them. We just might have to have a whole Bunch of People out in the streets burning our Trump Shirts to get our point across!! If Trump and DeSantis both run in 2024, so be it. May the Best Man win. I will vote for the Last Man Standing!

I don’t blame Trump but if there were a “red wave” he certainly would have raked the credit.

The Dems did their best to make the election about Trump, and as much as I hate to say it, it seemed to work. I sure hope he don't announce his 2024 candidacy, if he decides to run, until the Senate situation is settled. Nobody energizes Dems and a lot of independents like Trump.

I think the swamp and GOPe LET DeSantis win. They would like nothing better than PDJT and RD going after each other.

# 6, if you believe that DeSantis' record of standing up to entrenched interests is of no account because he did an appearance for a fellow Republican in Colorado, then you don't understand the real world of politics at that level.
I am a Floridian. I love President Trump - best president of my lifetime. But times are changing, the other side has powerful tools at its disposal and I don't think PDT could win a national election in 2024.
And we need Governor DeSantis here in FL for the next four years.
The GOP and conservatives need to look to the future, outside the box. Either Mike Pompeo or Senator Cotton might prove to be a very good presidential candidate for 2024.

Substitute "Tea party" for "Trump" in any of the hit pieces and it's just a rerun of what they did a decade ago. All lies, all the time, much of it underwritten by people who are supposed to be on "our side" - while it's becoming less and less clear what "our side" means

Trump generally endorses candidates who like him. Not necessarily candidates who can win.
