MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace suggested Monday that the United States might need a “Democracy commission” or some other organization that could save America from the Republicans — and she thought that former President Barack Obama could potentially spearhead such an effort. Wallace, who hosts “Deadline: White House” on the left-leaning network posed the question to former Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) — and even McCaskill quickly dismissed the idea that a “commission” of any sort was necessary. Broadcasting from Martha’s Vineyard? What an absolutely awful idea. It seems MSNBC has not taken any lessons from Netflix’s failed attempts to make the Obamas into superstars. Can you imagine a hotline run by Obama, whose favorite word is “me”?

A fringe minority in the Republican Party could topple the country’s democracy, claiming an outsized influence on politics and the future of the nation, according to a controversial former Democratic attorney general. Former President Barack Obama’s AG Eric Holder told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on Tuesday that a small demographic of the Republican Party wants to be a “minority party” with “majority power.” “Can it get any worse for the American people in the Supreme Court’s new term?” Amanpour asked the 82nd Attorney General of the United States who served from 2009 to 2015. “I say that because a lot of their rulings have been

President Joe Biden is scheduled to campaign for Democrats in Oregon as their candidates are struggling in a normally safe state. The president will campaign in Portland on behalf of Democrat candidates on Friday, participating in a grassroots volunteer event. He will also participate in a fundraiser and deliver a speech about the importance of lowering costs for American families. Biden’s visit is a political effort to boost Tina Kotek, a Democrat candidate for governor who is in danger of losing to Republican Christie Drazan. “The DC political class is in full panic mode to rescue Tina Kotek’s failing and flailing campaign,” Drazan’s communications director told local media ahead of the president’s visit.

McMullin says he will not caucus with either party if elected. Romney, who cited his friendship with McMullin to explain his neutrality in the race, is the only Republican senator not to endorse Lee.

A federal judge on Wednesday rejected former President Donald Trump's attempt to delay answering questions under oath next week in a defamation lawsuit brought by journalist E. Jean Carroll. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York denied Trump's request to substitute the U.S. government into the case as a defendant, on the grounds that the alleged defamation occurred when he was president. That request is a "second bite at the apple," Kaplan said. Wednesday's ruling clears the way for Trump to be deposed Oct. 19.

After Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom's state Energy Commission accused Valero Energy of price gouging and ordered an "explanation" from the company on the high price of gas in California, Valero sent a lengthy letter putting Newsom in his place and explaining why his answer is waiting in the mirror. In doing so, the energy producer also exposed the true goal of Democrats' pain-is-the-point energy agenda. "As the Commission knows, and as countless investigations have demonstrated, market drivers of supply and demand, together with government-imposed costs and specifications, determine market price," Valero's letter begins, explaining the basics of Econ 101 since apparently Newsom missed that lesson
