The Davos crowd are a menace to humanity.
(Hmm, that reminds me, I have to write a post on the World Economic Forum as a VIP column! So subscribe!)
This episode in James Bond-villainy is brought to you by Petteri Taalas, secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organization. The WMO is the UN weather agency, for people like me who didn’t know that until right now.
GENEVA — The head of the U.N. weather agency says the war in Ukraine “may be seen as a blessing” from a climate perspective because it is accelerating the development of and investment in green energies over the longer term — even though fossil fuels

Scott wrote earlier today about the first day’s testimony in the trial of Igor Danchenko. I want to elaborate on the most significant point that emerged from the testimony of FBI supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten: the FBI offered Christopher Steele $1 million if he could come up with evidence to support the wild allegations in his “dossier” on Donald Trump. This at a time when the FBI knew that, to date, Steele had nothing.
TechnoFog has a summary and partial transcript of Auten’s testimony, which is worth quoting at length:
Auten was asked about the FBI’s efforts to corroborate the Steele allegations

More than 2,600 federal officials either own or have traded stock in companies their agencies oversee, according to a damning report by the Wall Street Journal.
The report also found that officials frequently traded stock in companies shortly before their agencies announced enforcement actions that affected the price of those companies.
At the Department of Defense for example, some officials held stock in Chinese companies that the U.S. was considering blacklisting. Tech stocks seem to be particularly popular for federal officials to trade, with the Wall Street Journal finding over 1,800 officials who own or traded Google (through parent company Alphabet), Amazon, Apple, and Facebook (now known as Meta), a trend that coincides

A Los Angeles city councilwoman stepped down Wednesday following days of calls for her and two of her colleagues to resign after they were caught on a leaked audio recording disparaging other city leaders and constituents with racist and offensive remarks. Nury Martinez issued a statement to her fellow council members, staff and county residents saying that it was "with a broken heart" that she was leaving her post to "look inward and reflect."
Numerous local and state leaders, and even President Biden, have called for Martinez and council members Kevin de León and Gil Cedillo to step down. Martinez stepped down as council president on Monday and said

Alex Jones has been ordered to pay a total of $965 million in damages to the plaintiffs of the defamation trial surrounding his lies about the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. The 15 plaintiffs of the case included the relatives of eight Sandy Hook victims, as well as a former FBI agent suing Jones.
A Connecticut jury reached a unanimous verdict Wednesday afternoon before the judge read aloud a detailed report of the various damages owed to each plaintiff by Jones and his media company, Free Speech Systems.
Jones had already been found liable for defamation for spreading disinformation about the shooting, which killed 20

You may recall an incident last year in which Leftists from Biden, all the way down to your neighbor with the “In This House We Believe” sign became absolutely apoplectic over the cruel and sadistic border agents riding down Haitian immigrants and whipping them. Whipping them, I say! Comparisons were even made to antebellum slavery as the Left worked itself into a full-on foaming-at-the-mouth rage.
Except, of course, that wasn’t the case. The agents were using the reins to control the horses and no immigrants were harmed. There even were pictures of immigrant children petting the horses. The truth eventually came out and of course was largely ignored by the media,

The Treasury Department is auditing the migrant flights authorized by Governor Ron DeSantis to assess whether the expenditures were appropriate.
In response to a petition from Democratic lawmakers, the department’s inspector general wrote in an October 7 letter that the agency would investigate whether Florida misused federal funds to relocate illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard. The DeSantis administration has maintained that the trips were approved on a bipartisan basis by the state legislature in a budget package many months ago.
Richard K. Delmar, deputy inspector general for the Treasury Department, told Senator Ed Markey and five other Democrats that he intended “to get this work underway as soon as possible”

A flight inbound to Nantucket that local police anticipated would drop off migrant passengers is actually carrying business executives, local police confirmed.
After Nantucket Police made preparations for an influx of migrants similar to that which arrived in Martha’s Vineyard weeks ago, they reported Monday that the plane, scheduled to arrive Tuesday, “will be carrying executives from an investment company.” Police confirmed the situation with the charter company directly, according to the Boston Herald.
“We believe this information to be credible,” police said in a statement.

Journalists, leftists, and members of the establishment media collectively trashed NBC News Correspondent Dasha Burns for highlighting Pennsylvania Democrat U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman’s impairments due to a previous stroke.
During Tuesday’s broadcast of NBC Nightly News, Burns noted Fetterman’s stroke has impaired him in a variety of ways, from his comprehension to his basic speech, to the point of him needing a closed captioning system during their in-person interview. “Fetterman’s campaign required closed captioning technology for this interview to essentially read our questions as we asked them,” she told fellow reporter Lester Holt. “In small talk before the interview, without captioning, it wasn’t clear he was understanding our conversation.”

The cost-cutting at Warner Bros. Discovery continued on Tuesday, with the latest casualty being a long-running TV workshop devoted to fostering diversity, according to multiple reports.
Executives have shut down the Warner Bros. Television Workshop, which sought out and nurtured diverse talent among TV writers and directors who then moved on to create or work on new TV series. Among the shows that reportedly benefited from workshop talent was the woke HBO flop Lovecraft Country, which was canceled last year after just one season. As Breitbart News reported, the genre-bending Lovecraft Country was a darling of the entertainment news media for the way it portrayed the United States as a racist country swarming

A report in today’s Wall Street Journal depicts Joe Biden’s Keystone Kops administration in action:
Days before a major oil-production cut by OPEC and its Russia-led allies, U.S. officials called their counterparts in Saudi Arabia and other big Gulf producers with an urgent appeal—delay the decision for another month, according to people familiar with the talks. The answer: a resounding no.

Saudi officials dismissed the requests, which they viewed as a political gambit by the Biden administration to avoid bad news ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, on which control of Congress hangs.

Last week, Saudi Arabia announced, in conjunction with OPEC+, that it would be cutting oil production in the face of dropping prices. That decision came in spite of the Biden White House’s lobbying in favor of increased production, which included a sycophantic visit by President Joe Biden to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. In response to the Saudi announcement, the White House quickly announced that the United States would be reevaluating its relationship with the Kingdom. Meanwhile, the White House announced that it would be “preparing to scale down sanctions” on Venezuela’s tyrannical regime, according to The Wall Street Journal. The goal: increased oil production from the Marxist dictatorship
