All part of a pilot project to draw people into the warehouse district, near Target Center. “We’re running this project for them, the people who are already here,” says Ben Shardlow, Urban Director with the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District. “We’re starting with engaging with the people who are here and giving them a good experience, and hoping to grow this project in the future.”

Khalid Bedel Hassan, 18, is charged with third-degree assault, fifth-degree assault, threats of violence and two counts of first-degree criminal property damage. The hustle and bustle of downtown Minneapolis is home to Ninth Street and Nicollet Mall.
“It’s a busy corner. Here’s a lot of foot traffic and buses that come through here,” said Justin Miller, who works downtown. (snip) “I’m really on high alert. I won’t even walk on this side of the street,” Cohns said. “Plenty of drugs, all ages selling it and buying it and a lot of stealing out of Target.”
