City commissioners in Dothan approved a two-year continuation of a contract with a lobbying firm at their most recent meeting on August 15. According to the resolution passed by a 5-2 vote by the Dothan City Commission, Dothan taxpayers will pay Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP $9,000 per month plus expenses through June 30, 2024. The firm was previously under a one-year contract. Kevin Cowper, Dothan City manager, said at the August 15 commission meeting that “we utilize the firm to help us gain access to Senators, Representatives, and to help us gain access to funding sources to make those connections.”

"We think it’s going to take a little time for them to know us and everything that we’re trying to get accomplished and to kind of connect dots so we can gain access to some of the federal dollars that are out there.”" Hmmm, the lobbying group has had a YEAR at $9,000+/mo to "know " them & learn what they are trying to accomplish - that could have been done in the first 3 months! Highly suspicious to me....

They should “gain access” the same way I do: write an email, letter, or make a phone call. The taxpayers should recall every one of those idiots and end their relationship with that den of thieves. What is amazing is that the median income in Alabama is around $27,000 per year. So, these idiots have no problem spending one third of the average citizen of Alabama’s income per month to a bunch of connected legal sleaze.

Such is the predictable outcome of a nation that collects, through taxation, trillions of dollars. Much of those dollars are then returned to the localities through a myriad of programs designed by the tax collectors. Since those programs are too often the result of raw politics, the distribution of the loot is also rawly political. Therefore middlemen, sometimes honest but often greasy, become the conduit between the Feds and the people. It is, unfortunately, the American way.

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing is just "the left's new way of imposing their worldview on the country," according to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. ESG is an approach to evaluating how a corporation aligns itself to social goals beyond earning a profit for its shareholders. These goals often pertain to environmental sustainability but also to advocacy for certain social movements and commitment to "diversity, equity and inclusion" (DE&I).... Other critics have called ESG investing a "wokeness report card" and compared it to China's social credit score system.

One Alabama embalmer will perform his job in silence no longer. Richard Hirschmann has been the impetus for recent disturbing pathology reports of abnormal blood clots found and removed by embalmers from the corpses they embalmed. Hirschmann claims this pattern has only emerged in his line of work since the onset of COVID-19 and the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccines. Hirschmann lives in the southeastern part of Alabama and has practiced there as a private contractor for the past 20-plus years. The embalmer said he started to notice this unusual substance in his work in the summer of 2021.

Years ago, I read a book by J.P. Moreland called, “Love Your God with All Your Mind.” It was written by an evangelical to fellow evangelicals, arguing that we were not doing a very good job of thinking biblically. I have to conclude that he was right, and I join in his call for fellow evangelicals to do the part of the Great Commandment that we may have been neglecting: loving God not just with our hearts and souls but also with our minds.

The letter was published by the New Yorker on Monday in an excerpt of an upcoming book by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser,…

Arizona lawmakers heard from True the Vote last week, amid a lengthy and detailed investigation into possible fraud in the 2020 election. Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote, and her associate Gregg Phillips presented their findings to eight Republican lawmakers in a live-streamed meeting at the Arizona state Capitol. The group used GPS data to identify cell phones they say were repeatedly in close proximity to ballot drop boxes and also made repeated visits to nonprofit organizations that True the Vote claims could be involved in illegal ballot collection activities.

The primary function of any school is to focus on the academic growth of students. This is where it starts and where it should end. Marxist-Liberal Democrats have taken control of public schools and teach children lies about their bodies and their rights — to children as young as kindergarten. Having been given over to their reprobate mind, Marxist-Liberal Democrats have schemed a well-orchestrated plan to further their degenerate thinking by pushing conversations about transgenderism upon five-year-old children.  CORRECTION*

As we deal with the aftermath of the tragic school shooting in Texas, we also face predictable and insensitively timed cries for gun control. I’ve always been surprised and bothered that Conservatives don’t respond with their own policy suggestions. In the face of such wickedness, when our laws seem to fail at deterring crime, we must ask what needs to change and return to the source of our principles: God’s justice. How does God command we deal with murderers? The death penalty is actually the second command God gives humanity in the Bible.  CORRECTION*

The Katie Britt campaign for Senate announced on Wednesday that Britt will not be participating in any of the planned debates ahead of the Republican primary runoff for U.S. Senate. Her opponent, Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL05), accused Britt of hypocritically flip-flopping on her previous debate pledge...Mike Durant, who at one time was the leader in the polls in this race, also refused to debate and was denounced by Britt for his decision. Now Durant is out, and Britt is the frontrunner and has adopted the same anti-debate stance.

Durant, sensing he would not make the runoff, said on the eve of the primary that he would support Brooks in the expected runoff. “I’m not going to vote,” Durant said in an interview with 1819 News.

A long-held secret. Instead, new car owners would only be able to procure a new car loan if there are expensive lithium batteries propelling the wheels.

In President Joe Biden’s 2007 memoir, Promises to Keep: On Life and Politics, he wrote that the late Sen. Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.) gave him the best advice he ever received: “Joe, never attack another man’s motive, because you don’t know his motive.” Judging from Biden’s increasingly belligerent speeches, he has forgotten Mansfield’s eminently wise counsel. This was rendered abundantly clear during his Thursday speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Standing before a backdrop that looked as if it had been designed by Leni Riefenstahl, he attacked the motives of half the electorate.

So far, Texas has forked out nearly $13million to Wynne Transportation—the charter service that is taking migrants to the various cities. Around 44 migrants got off Sunday's bus, which was ordered to New York by El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser.

President Joe Biden rolled out a new nickname for MAGA Republicans on Labor Day during a lively speech where he also walked back comments suggesting Donald Trump's supporters believe in 'semi-fascism.' During his speech in Wisconsin on Monday, the president denounced the former president's followers as 'Trumpies' and claimed politicians on the 'extreme right' of the GOP are 'coming for your social security' and destroying worker pensions. At one point Biden was interrupted by a heckler—though he told Secret Service to 'let him go.' 'Everybody's entitled to be an idiot,' the president said to scattered laughter. We've been hearing an awful lot, even from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) himself, that Republicans taking back control of the Senate isn't as likely to happen, due to "candidate quality." It's worth noting that forecasters still have it as a "Toss-Up," or for Democrats only slightly favored to keep control of the chamber, as many races are tight in key seats. One of them, surprisingly enough, is in Washington state, where Sen. Patty Murray, the Democratic incumbent, is just a few percentage points ahead of her Republican challenger, Tiffany Smiley. This is according to a recent poll from the Trafalgar Group.

At a national level there is a unique policy priority that almost every politician, on both sides, will avoid discussing. At a national level a single policy priority determines all other national policy issues. That policy is the national economic policy. The national economic policy of a presidential candidate determines all other national policies that flow from the presidential candidate. The national economic policy impacts the obvious policies like energy and trade, and also determines the lesser obvious policies like regulation and even foreign policy. It is specifically because a candidate’s national economic outlook impacts all other issues, that most national politicians never talk about it.
