A beach pier in Ocean Grove destroyed during Superstorm Sandy is being rebuilt by a local religious organization, but the new shape has some residents concerned it too closely resembles a cross.
Members of the small seaside town’s LGTBQ+ community and allies are saying the cross crosses a line, but many are afraid to voice their grievances with the Camp Meeting Association, said Douglas Grote, a local resident and retired Presbyterian pastor.

A straight dock looks too much like a D***, so I HAVE a problem with that. People got to just tell these freaks to go find another pier and jump off of it.

Oh my God!! In the shape of a Cross! We must tear up street intersections and make sure that streets cross (oh my God I said that word!) at something other than 90 degree angles. These poor peepull will feel all ill at ease at every red light.

So, the malibu pier is in the shape of a long phallic symbol. I'd rather see a cross.
Besides, a cross only has spiritual meaning if you impart spirituality onto it....otherwise it is just two lines that intersect at right angles.

Oh, but it's ok for the LGTBQ+ community to indoctrinate your children and to shove their sick agenda down everyone's throats, but don't ever build a pier in the shape of a cross. A bunch of pathetic freakin whack jobs.

They should be happy a new pier is being built and will be accessible to the public. Instead a handful of people want to complain and pretend they are 'victims'.

Yeah, the demons will burst into flames if they have to look at a cross.

Christian Nationalism is the new Boogie Man for the leftists. Any symbol of Christianity will be called Christian Nationalism and attempts will be made to remove it from public view. You don't want drag queens in the schools and libraries? You are a Christian Nationalist. You don't want children being given body altering drugs and body mutilating surgeries? You are a Christian Nationalist. You are against displays of perversion in parades and public celebrations? You are a Christian Nationalist. You believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and that killing the unborn is wrong? You are a Christian Nationalist. It will never end.

So, a cross shaped fishing pier will make us all fishers of men also?
Even so, it appears to be a much more practical and durable fishing and recreational pier than one going straight out to sea.

To the non-majority hacks and you know who you are. You persons mush over the stupidest stuff ever. So what. The dock is in the shape of a cross. People crossing this dock don't care. They don't give you a nanosecond about your hurt feelings. They are not thinking about you. You worry over the dumbest things. Like the NYker who was afraid to drive in "red states" because they are all racists. Locals in red states might throw a tomato at them. Get a life morons.

4 times the amount of usable Rail Space for fishers and watchers...triple the amount of space a T-Head would have provided while utilizing the same number of piers/pilings.

Ocean Grove is an oasis from the chaos that is Asbury Park. It's always been a religious community. Leave it alone.

I'm glad that New Jersey has solved all of its other problems so that they can worry about the shape of a pier that has nothing to do with its function.

An LGBTQ activist is feeling afraid of and bullied by...a pier going out into the ocean? I think this person has bigger issues than a pier if he is afraid of a structure. Are lesbians afraid of the Empire State Building because it looks like and erect man part? Are others afraid and bullied by London's The Gherkin because it looks like a big vibrator? Nope, because we realize that they are buildings/structures and pose no threat to our sexual identity. LGBTQ activists need to get over themselves and stop being offended by everything.

Just tell the whiny little numpties that it's a giant "T" and be done with it. Some people think everything is about them and their sexual proclivities. Frankly, I am sick of hearing from them!!

Build it into any shape, and I will find someone who is offended.
Put up a statue of anyone, and I will find someone who is offended.
Fly any flag, and I will find someone who is offended.
