Sen. Joe Manchin's deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for an oil and gas permitting bill in exchange for the West Virginia senator's support for the White House's $739 billion climate change spending and tax hike, signed into law last week by President Biden, is in jeopardy, as progressives say they are not bound by any agreement and vow to oppose the legislation.
Critics say that Manchin gave up leverage to get the permitting bill through the House by helping Democrats first pass the Inflation Reduction Act through a party-line process known as budget reconciliation.
"Manchin was so eager to side with President Biden that he shoved spending down America’s throat

Democrats playing the same old gotcha game yet again. Manchin and Schumer just fooling those who believe everything they say. That would firstly be the media who is the Dems public voice. It's all just more crap.

Manchin may indeed have been stabbed in the back, but Republicans do not need a person so stupid that he actually trusted Chuck the Schmuck.
This bill was bad from beginning to end and no deal could filter the stink off it.
Manchin folded up like a cheap suit.

This just gives Manchin deniability - they made him an offer he couldn't refuse, but he gets to look like the loser. Laughing all the way to the bank.

Remember the old Bugs Bunny cartoons where Bugs or another character was "flunmmoxed" or "bamboozled," and their image would be replaced with (1) the southern end of a northbound mule or (2) a lollipop with the word "SUCKER" written across the face.
That's Joe Manchin.

Manchin had to have known that Schumer would have zero leverage in the House to get this passed. If he actually believed Schumer he is a fool. Time for W Virginians to find an actual conservative to represent them.

Manchin is about to get a very hard knocks history lesson. Since at least the Reagan administration, specifically Reagans disastrous immigration amnesty, the democrats MO has been to bargain all bills as a quid pro quo. They ALWAYS promise that if the Republicans just this one time help the dems the dems will pass something for the repubs later. In Reagans amnesty it was pass amnesty now and we will close the border. Yeah, we are still waiting for that closed border.
Every bill the left passes is scored by the CBO on a 10 year basis. Obamacare is a great example. The CBO said it would cost less than a trillion dollars and that was the headline and rationale to pass it. Except that what the bill really did was spend Trillions of dollars in the first 4 years and ALL of the savings were supposed to show up in the last 2 or 3 years. Of course in the intervening years the left has managed to spend those imaginary "savings" several times over, and in reality those wished for "savings" never actually appeared anyway.
Manchin was played, he was promised that if he just gave the left this little teensy tiny thing that they would help him out after it passed. Guess what?
He has been suckered by the lament of the fool who parlays with the Dems "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today....."

Schumer: "Sorry, Joe, nothing I can do about it."
Manchin: "We had a deal!
Schumer: "I don't control the House Joe. You need to speak to Pelosi."
Manchin walks away grumbling.
Schumer: "What a schmuck."
