American Stasi

Monday's shocking images of police sirens blaring outside Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump's magnificent Palm Beach, Florida, estate, will not soon be forgotten. Much has already been said and written about the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago that precipitated those sirens: "outrageous," "unprecedented," a "crossing of the Rubicon" moment. Regrettably, all of that is true. The siccing of the national law enforcement apparatus to execute a pre-dawn raid on a top partisan rival — especially when that rival is the head of state's predecessor and perhaps-likely future opponent — is a contemptible act of raw political bloodlust.

If there was such a thing as shame anymore, every one of the jackbooted thugs who gleefully flipped on the sirens and pushed their way into Mar-a-Lago, should be ashamed of themselves and their shredding of their Oath. They are all scum.

Rushdie, 75, remained in serious condition but was said to be “talking (and joking)”, fellow author Aatish Taseer tweeted. Rushdie’s agent Andrew Wylie confirmed the update, a day after saying author was likely to lose an eye. The author also suffered a damaged liver and severed nerves in his arm, the agent said.

The writer and historian Victor Davis Hanson is one of the most serious thinkers of our time. When he says something, people should listen. Following the raid on Trump’s Florida home, Hanson is saying that the FBI is beyond redemption. That it cannot and should not be saved in its current form. To hear Hanson saying this should alarm people. He is not the type of man who engages in outrageous talk. He means this, for real.Victor Hanson: ‘We Don’t Have Rule of Law in Washington … FBI is Beyond Redemption’ When asked about the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s home in Palm Beach, Fla., professor, author, and

Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson slammed New York City Mayor Eric Adams, telling the mayor he needs to address the "root cause" of the border crisis after his feud this week with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott over bussing migrants to New York City on "One Nation." REP. RONNY JACKSON: It's absolutely comical. I mean, if this guy wants to address the issue, he needs to go and do what Kamala Harris said she was going to do at the very beginning: Address the root cause. The root cause is right down the hall from where she sits in the White House. It's in the Oval Office.

Donald Trump has lashed out once again over the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago that uncovered classified material, calling the court-approved search a 'hoax and scam'. 'Like all of the other Hoaxes and Scams that they've used to try and silence the voice of a vast majority of the American People, I have TRUTH on my side, and when you have TRUTH, you will ultimately be victorious,' Trump wrote Saturday in a post on his Truth Social network. Trump is under federal investigation for possible violations of the Espionage Act, which makes it unlawful to mishandle classified information, including sharing it with people not authorized to receive it, a search warrant made public

A Texas police department refused to kotow to a woke mob after an officer posted a photograph of himself posing with Kyle Rittenhouse to the force's Facebook page. In the photo, Rittenhouse, who posed with an unidentified officer from the Thrall Police Department, could be seen grinning from ear to ear in front of a patrol vehicle. 'Make those stops, you never know who you might meet,' the post initially read. 'Today it was Kyle Rittenhouse, welcome to Texas.' Rittenhouse, 19, became notorious for his murder trial and subsequent acquittal after shooting three men, two fatally, in what he testified was self-defense during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August 2020,

Time to get off. Wherever you think this is going, it’s not. Trump stole Top Secret documents. He’s put a target on the backs of cops. This is getting ugly. The raid on Trump’s home last Monday was the high water mark of Merrick Garland’s politicization of the Department of Justice. That act of weaponizing the DOJ was shocking in that it violated accepted norms. Serving a search warrant and using the FBI as its enforcers were entirely unnecessary. A subpoena or even a phone would have sufficed, but a subpoena or a phone doesn’t send a “we can do whatever we want” message. A 9-hour-long rummage through desks, sock drawers, and Melania Trump’s closet do. Merrick Garland and his Justice Department aren’t done poking Trump in the eye. The DOJ recently offered up one more act of petty political vengeance

It is possible (not certain, but possible) that within the next 20 years or so, the United States will no longer exist. That would be a great setback for human liberty. The end of the American republic would most likely mean the end of self-government all over the globe—the beginning of a new dark age. The United States, even now, is the world’s greatest example of constitutional democracy, and if the cause of freedom fails here, it probably will not survive anywhere. More than that, however, the end of liberty on these shores would most likely mean the end of any memory of America.

Buying a home in the US is the least affordable it's been in 33 years as mortgage rates soar this year and home prices hit record highs. The National Association of Realtors revealed Friday that its housing-affordability index - a metric that uses median existing-home prices, median family incomes and average mortgage rates to calculate home affordability - fell to 98.5 percent in June, the lowest level since 1989. An index of 100 means the average family has more than enough income required to buy a home, with a dip below that mark suggesting households are struggling to enter the housing market.

Deep State types such as Susan Rice are likely behind the FBI’s raid of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, Carl Paladino, a Republican upstate New York businessman who is running for Congress in New York’s 23rd Congressional District, told Breitbart News Saturday. He contended that it would have to be someone other than President Biden, who “isn’t there” but, rather, is vacationing “all the time.” “RINOs” do not want change in Washington, DC, Paladino said as he described the current Republican Caucus in the House as a “disaster,” pointing to the Trump era as an example of how to get things done.

At this point, it’s become sort of ridiculous, and anyone following along knows that anytime they come up with anything crazy, you should wait a couple of days until the true story comes out and blows out yet another claim. They have shifted into overdrive of late with the FBI raid and the Jan. 6 efforts. It’s driving the left into paroxysms of nuttiness — with folks like the former CIA Director Michael Hayden implying that Trump should be executed and soap actress Nancy Lee Grahn suggesting Ivana Trump should be dug up because

One thing we must give Democrats credit for is their unity. Yes, certain members of the party such as Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) will occasionally diverge from the party line and oppose particularly radical pieces of legislation, but when it comes to big moments and key votes – on impeachment, for instance – Democrats circle the wagons. Contrarily, Republicans tend to fracture at the most inopportune moments, which is why it was refreshing to see virtual unanimity amongst the GOP after Monday’s outrageous raid on former President Donald Trump’s residence Mar-a-Lago. Almost all notable Republicans supported Trump after the ordeal; all except for one.

It is helpful to think of political developments as moves on the chessboard made to advance an objective. In chess, the objective is to win the game, chess being zero-sum. Politics is like that, too, though participants often claim it's not, that they're acting for the greater good, principles at the foundation of democracy, motherhood and apple pie and all that — which is true in some cases but never if Democrats are in the game. This brings me to Attorney General Garland's claim that the Mar-a-Lago home invasion wasn't a raid at all.

The post–George Floyd racial reckoning has hit the field of medicine like an earthquake. Medical education, medical research, and standards of competence have been upended by two related hypotheses: that systemic racism is responsible both for racial disparities in the demographics of the medical profession and for racial disparities in health outcomes. Questioning those hypotheses is professionally suicidal. Vast sums of public and private research funding are being redirected from basic science to political projects aimed at dismantling white supremacy. The result will be declining quality of medical care and a curtailment of scientific progress.

The Senate-passed Inflation Reduction Act is expected to have almost zero impact on inflation, according to a new analysis. A University of Pennsylvania Penn Wharton analysis released Friday revealed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 would do little to reduce the annual rate of inflation in the midst of the economic recession. The bill would only reduce annual inflation by 0.1 percentage point over the next five years. The study estimated that the small inflation reduction would begin only "once major deficit-reducing provisions of the legislation are fully implemented, but the Act would have no measurable impact on inflation after 2028.

The story of Peloton Interactive, Inc is one that in normal circumstances Americans could be extremely proud of. The company was founded only ten short years ago in New York City, the brainchild of five ambitious and daring young entrepreneurs who were looking to reimagine ways for people to stay physically fit. They were a hybrid of traditional technology and a modern fitness company, and they jumped out to an exceptionally quick start. By the time the COVID pandemic took hold in March 2020 and changed the world forever, Peloton was poised to reap the rewards of a brilliant idea and impeccable timing.
