Sarasota school board vice chair Tom Edwards this week proudly bragged that there are school board members who are “woke” and “working from the inside” to indoctrinate children, making the remarks ahead of the August 23 primary, as voters have a chance to flip the school board in favor of pro-parents and pro-students conservatives.

Indiana's legislature became the first in the nation on Friday to pass new legislation restricting access to abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Other states have already banned abortion, thanks to pre-existing 'trigger laws' that went into effect when Roe was repealed, but Indiana is the first to usher in a new law.
The measure now goes to Republican Governor Eric Holcomb, who has not indicated whether he will sign it.
The ban includes limited exceptions, including in cases of rape and incest, and to protect the life and physical health of the mother.
At least 10 people have died after a fire tore through a home in Pennsylvania on Thursday night where fourteen people were living.
Crews were called to the home in the early hours of the morning in the township of Nescopeck, Luzerne County, 50 miles south west of Scranton. Four people made it out alive but ten - including children - are feared dead.
It's unclear what started the blaze, but Pennsylvania State Police said they had launched a 'complex criminal investigation'.
The fire broke out at 2:42 am during a family gathering, police said. The cause of the fire remains a mystery.

Madison County, North Carolina, is planning to put semi-automatic rifles in each of its six schools heading into the 2022-2023 school year for enhanced security in the case of an active shooter threat.
County Sheriff Buddy Harwood announced that the rifles will be stored in secured safes at each of the county’s elementary, middle, and high schools. The six schools will also store breaching tools and ammunition in the safes that law enforcement could access in the case of an emergency.
“We were able to put an AR-15 rifle and safe in all of our schools in the county,” Harwood told the Asheville Citizen Times.
