California is battling its worst wildfire this year with more than 51,000 acres burned and evacuations mounting. Chaotic weather is threatening to make matters worse. Crews battling the McKinney Fire in northern California were bracing for thunderstorms and hot, windy conditions that created the potential for additional fire growth Sunday. (Photo) The McKinney Fire was burning out of control in northern California's Klamath National Forest, with expected thunderstorms a big concern Sunday just south of the Oregon state line, said U.S. Forest Service spokesperson Adrienne Freeman. The brother of a friend at church had their house burned down in the fire and lost everything. The community is turning out to help. Prayers are being answered. Help is on the way. God is opening doors and providing for them.

Muggy and overcast in our region today. The fire is approximately 100 miles northeast of our location over mountains. TK is monitoring Cal Fire radio. There is no containment. They're expecting dry lightening tonight. The fire line has moved just north of the town of Yreka on I-5. They are evacuating. Pray. Pray hard. Catholics, rattle the beads.

Based upon history and current events a person could get the idea that the US Forest Service is incompetent just like the rest of the government.

Our small community lost around 300 homes two years ago. This fire is East of us a few miles. There are also fires near Seiad Valley, 20 miles from us. Living on hwy 96 can be quite the experience with snow and ice in the Winter and fires in the Summer. At least it keeps the pansy Libs away. Have a blessed day.

Best wishes for TQ and TK to be safe, and their home to be spared. Four years ago an illegal alien Danish doper let an illegal cooking fire (there was a fire ban), from his illegal squatter's camp (is there a theme here?) get out of control and started a huge wildfire in SE Colorado. The fire teams fought it on the ground and in the air, repeatedly cutting fire lines in front of it, and having the fire jump it many times. After traveling 16-18 miles from the origin, and burning from late June into early September, it burned more than 150 square miles, destroyed 140 homes. And they fire fighters stopped it 200 yards from our cabin in the mountains. The fire fighters deserve a lot of credit for doing a very difficult job. And they saved many homes by crews coming in at the last minute and dropping trees near homes to clear fire breaks around the homes, and other direct actions to protect homes. I hope the California fire fighters do as good a job as the ones in Colorado did four years ago. Much sympathy for the people who are near this fire. And, again, I wonder if this is climate crazies working to make their religious fanatic predictions "come true".

I remember a good many years ago when the looney lefties won a court case to that forced the CA government and the US Forest Service to stop a variety of forest management practices, things like prescribed burns, that reduced the 'deadwood' fuel load, and which had the purpose of preventing such large wildfires. Looks like their 'Chickens have come Home to Roost'. I just wish that the leftist 'activists' that forced the end of the fire-prevention programs were the people who had their homes burned up by the fires that their legal machinations caused to happen.

Our prayers are with the folks in CA. New Mexico has suffered major fires too, which had much to do with prescribed burns. Wind is an issue here and it seems they can't forecast that for squat.

The January 6 Committee has promised since the start of their hearings that they would produce the evidence to nail President Donald Trump. But as anyone can tell you, all they’ve produced is bad television that people have been avoiding like the plague because they know it’s a biased witch hunt. But after nine hearings, they have not produced evidence to support criminal charges, according to George Washington law school professor Jonathan Turley. As he notes, even former prosecutor (and Senator) Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) thought it would be “very tough” to get an indictment legally. Instead, what we’ve gotten is a witch hunt “show trial” with a controlled Democratic effort,

Indiana's legislature became the first in the nation on Friday to pass new legislation restricting access to abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Other states have already banned abortion, thanks to pre-existing 'trigger laws' that went into effect when Roe was repealed, but Indiana is the first to usher in a new law. The measure now goes to Republican Governor Eric Holcomb, who has not indicated whether he will sign it. The ban includes limited exceptions, including in cases of rape and incest, and to protect the life and physical health of the mother.

A cloud of thick smoke hangs over the occupied city of Kherson in Ukraine. Its very stench is evidence of Russian war crimes, on a scale almost too sickening to contemplate. The smoke comes from mobile incinerators that are running night and day. Vladimir Putin's paranoid soldiers are burning the corpses of Ukrainian citizens tortured and murdered on suspicion of helping the resistance. And they are dispatching the bodies of their own comrades too — hundreds of them. The Russians are killed by the constant pounding of Ukrainian shells from artillery placements surrounding the city and by highly organised, secret units of freedom fighters.

When WNBA star Brittney Griner was convicted on drug charges Thursday, she was not merely sentenced to nine years in a normal jail or prison. Russia's penal colonies are descendants of the notorious Soviet-era gulags where prisoners have been subjected to harsh treatment and poor conditions. Prisoners in the system have been beaten by other inmates, endured torture and forced to watch Russian propaganda for hours every day in what's known as "awareness raising." Following several days of Griner's trial, which stemmed

While the Republicans look to retake control of Congress in the 2022 midterm elections — which are only 95 days away — after being in the minority for roughly four years, the most recent Rasmussen Reports survey showed that 46 percent of likely U.S. voters would elect a Republican, compared to the 43 percent who said they would vote for a Democrat.
