WASHINGTON — Pharmacists can prescribe the leading COVID-19 pill directly to patients under a new U.S. policy announced Wednesday that's intended to expand use of Pfizer's drug Paxlovid.
The Food and Drug Administration said pharmacists can begin screening patients to see if they are eligible for Paxlovid and then prescribe the medication, which has been shown to curb the worst effects of COVID-19. Previously only physicians could prescribe the antiviral drug.
The announcement comes as COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths are rising again, though they remain near their lowest levels since the coronavirus outbreak began in 2020.

Another way to get the world population down to 500 million.
They need 7 billion dead bodies.

Someday the truth will come out about how America was duped by Big Pharma and the Feds. A lot of money went into a lot of pockets to pull this one off and they’re still at it. There are a few dollars left to be squeezed. The baby shot didn’t really catch on but they have other ideas.

Last year my doctor told me this drug was only available to a few people, so people-of-color were getting priority.
I took that cue and made sure I had plenty of ivermectin.
Good move as Paxlovid causes covid to mutate and evade Paxlovid.
But ivermectin allows you to develop your own natural immunity while fighting covid with your body.
Who do you sue when Paxlovid kills someone you love?
Your pharmicist?

Blatant corruption and cronyism. We already have ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine. They're cheap, safe and they work! And they are already sold OTC throughout much of the world.

When I heard this on the news last night, I just about blew a gasket!!
Now pharmacists are allowed to directly prescribe Pfizer's pill, but they'll refuse to even FILL a doctor's prescription for ivermectin (assuming one can even find a doctor to prescribe it)!!
That is outrageous!!!! I can't even.....

My pharmacist does not have a stethoscope, and is not trained in diagnosing anything.
This is absurd.

Wait, the pill that made maximally vaxxed Anthony Fauci even sicker than he already was with COVID? Along the lines of PT Barnum's assessment of the American public, it's easy to imagine people lining up around the block for some of this action. "I tested positive!" People are almost proud to say this, despite being fully vaxxed.

Nothing that they can do would make me take that drug.
Besides, my moderate levels of D3 a day, with zinc and K2 have kept me and my wife safe for the whole Dem-panic without every hiding out and with minimal use of their stupid masks. Keep you D3 blood levels up around 50 at least, and you'll either not get it at all, or have a mild case.

IMHO, the FDA should define a "Safe but Unproven" approval type. Let the market sort out whether snake oil works.

Has anyone looked into the possible side effects of Paxlovid? My wife and I took a 5 day dose and my Covid went away within the five days. Hers lasted another week or so.
Seems to me that this drug should have been studied more thoroughly before being approved.

Re #17: From an online "drug info" source....
Paxlovid side effects are -
* Blurred vision
* dizziness
* headache
* nervousness
* pounding in the ears
* slow or fast heartbeat
Paxlovid is a protealysis inhibitor. Protealysis is particular chemical process in the reproduction of viruses, so inhibiting protealysis can inhibit viral replication.
I have had a different protealysis inhibitor in stock for many years. It was FDA approved as safe decades ago for another use, and at dosages higher than used for antiviral effects. A MD drug researcher colleague from Ukraine recommended it for treatment if I were to get the Wuhan flu. She has used it on her Wuhan virus patients with excellent results. My protealysis inhibitor is also useful as a 5% solution nasal spray to prevent airborne transmission of viral infections. My wife and I have been using the nasal spray for almost a year prior to going to events with large numbers of people.
Unfortunately, you have to be your own physician these days, too. Only a small subset of docs actually will use their medical knowledge proactively and are willing to buck the dysfunctional "system" for the benefit of patients.
