The White House announced plans on Sunday to spend $200 billion on solar projects in Angola, an undersea telecommunications cable linking the Far East with France via Egypt, and nuclear power production in Romania as part of a huge G7 infrastructure plan designed to compete with China's massive Belt and Road initiative.
The proposals were unveiled on the first day of the G7 summit in Germany, where world leaders met to discuss the global economy and Russia's war in Ukraine.
In all, G7 nations will commit $600 billion to the effort over the next five years, President Joe Biden announced, calling the investment a humanitarian, economic and security concern.

The United States does not build solar farms, vaccine plants, and communications links. Corporations do. So which corporations will be getting 200 billions dollars that we do not have? Vaccine plants? Pfizer anyone? Solar farms? it's a guarantee people in our government are invested in solar energy since it is green. Conflict of interest? Don't know who the 'goto' corporations are for communications these days, but Washington will be heavily invested.
Negating Chinese influence isn't a bad thing, but the US government is corrupt. For all we know the companies we 'invest' in have connections to China and the US government knows it.

This proves for sure that Obama (Biden) doesn’t give Damn about you, or you, or any of us! Our government is attacking the USA because our government works for another unknown entity? Who is it? The WEF? Soros and his cabal? Obama and the deep state? I’m not sure how effective ballots are at removing this kind of cancer. We have to find out who is behind all of this. Rush Limbaugh warned about this in his final days.

Solar panels all made in China. Vaccine plants which will require all sorts of medical gear all made in China to protect us from more Chinese viruses, and communication gear probably made in China as well. That'll teach China to mess with the west.

He should listen to putin if he wont listen to us; quit printing money. Ironic if he doesnt have it printed he will borrow it from china; sounds as effective to tamp down china as his russian sanctions.

Divide 600 billion by G7 and our share should be 860 million. Who's doing the math? And why are we subsidizing Romania's nuclear power production when we're shutting down ours?

The G7 doesn't understand Belt and Road. These developed nations will do what they do...hand out money for politically motivated (mainly, it appears, green) projects that will be badly executed from beginning to end, with the investment (that's not in the pockets of political fixers and VIPs) dissipated. The Chinese operate on a simple basis - they lend the money, then supervise development, construction, operations and management, taking their cash off the top from Day One. Not only do they "spread influence", but they make money doing it.

And yet we continue to buy Chinese manufactured goods rather than keep jobs in the U.S. We have a whole generation of middle aged adults who don't know that Americans used to go work everyday.

The cost of the unaffordable border wall was nowhere near $200 billion. The same Republicans who made sure to thwart the wall will also stand powerless to prevent this outright theft because they'll get a healthy share of the take, which is what modern American politics is all about.
