Biden scolds reporter on beach for asking
if recession is inevitable

Original Article

With most Americans fearing an economic slowdown, President Biden lashed out at a female reporter Monday for asking about the possibility of the US economy lurching into a recession as rising interest rates chase soaring inflation. As the president strolled on the sand near his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Del., he was asked about economic experts “saying a recession is more likely than ever.” “Not—the majority of them aren’t saying that. Come on, don’t make things up, okay?” responded Biden. “Now you sound like a Republican politician. I’m joking. That was a joke.” The president, who on Saturday fell off his bike nearby, proceeded to call for higher taxes

Comments:

America's figurehead then reached out for the reporterette, maybe to cop a cheap feel. He stopped short of taking a swing at her; when he takes that next step, it will not be televised.

It annoys me that the NY Post says the high gas prices are caused by the war in Ukraine. That may be a cause, but it is NOT the only cause. Were we energy independent as we were under the previous administration, prices wouldn't need to be so high and we wouldn't be taking resources from the strategic oil reserves. This POTUS is flying by the seat of his Depends.

"economic experts saying a recession is more likely than ever.” “Not — the majority of them aren’t saying that." I can't find one Last quarter was negative and the quarter that ends in 9 days will be negative as well. That is the definition of a recession. With the second-quarter data already available, the only way to avoid it is if the Bureau of Economic Analysis lies and then prints a correction moving it to negative six months later.

UK health officials are set to offer monkeypox vaccines to gay and bisexual men who are deemed to be the most “at-risk” of catching the virus. The UK Health Security Agency said men who have sex with other men have the highest chance of contracting the disease, and vaccines will help flatten the curve of the virus as the UK’s cases soar to nearly 800.(Snip)Doctors may advise vaccination for someone who has several sexual partners, participates in group sex, or attends “sex-on-premises” venues, the agency added. The monkeypox virus is understood to spread through close contact with an infected person.

An Air Force service member has been arrested by military police for an alleged insider attack at a US base in Syria in April that left four US service members injured, officials said. The unidentified airman was arrested in the United States on June 16 after allegedly setting off explosives during the attack in Green Village Syria, Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek told CNN. “After reviewing the information in the investigation, the Airman’s commander made the decision to place him in pretrial confinement,” Stefanek said. No other details about the individual have been released. “We won’t release the individual’s name unless charges are preferred,” Stefanek said.

The United States is pushing to “strengthen international coordination” against the Chinese government’s human rights abuses, with a specific focus on banning products made with forced labor in China‘s Xinjiang region, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday. The U.S. and some human rights groups accuse Beijing of genocide against ethnic Uyghurs in the predominantly Muslim region, and Mr. Blinken sought to highlight the issue as U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials began implementing a law prohibiting imports made by forced labor into the United States. President Biden signed the “Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act” into law in December after it passed through Congress with overwhelming bipartisan support

Jerusalem—Israel’s outgoing coalition government will fast-track a bill this week to dissolve parliament, setting up the country for its fifth elections in three years, a Cabinet minister said Tuesday. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced on Monday that he would disband his alliance of eight ideologically diverse parties, a year after taking office, and send the country to the polls. A series of defections from his Yamina party had stripped the coalition of its majority in Israel’s parliament, known as the Knesset. Bennett cited the coalition’s failure earlier this month to extend a law that grants West Bank settlers special legal status as a main impetus for new elections.

Armed police reportedly waited nearly an hour outside the classroom that the gunman was in during the May 24 massacre. “I have great reasons to believe (the door) was never secured,” Col. At some point President Biden’s delay in building any significant new sections of border wall will cross the line into being an illegal obstruction, congressional Republicans warned in a letter Tuesday to the White House demanding answers about the stall. Mr. Biden halted construction more than 500 days ago, making good on his campaign vow that “not another foot” would be built on his watch. But his administration insists he hasn’t actually blocked the money Congress approved but is instead figuring out how it should be spent. That explanation no longer holds water, said Republicans on the House Budget Committee, led by Rep. Jason Smith of Missouri.
